Objective: Identify associated factors with emergence delirium in children in the Post-Anesthetic Recovery Unit of a Pediatric Health Specialized Institute in Peru. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in children from 2 to 6 years old, physical status classification I and II, in elective procedures under anesthesia. The main variable was the presence of emergence delirium evaluated with the Pediatric Anesthesia Emergence Delirium scale greater than or equal to 10 points. To identify the factors associated with delirium, the Poisson regression model was applied and a p value < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Of the 150 children, it was found that the incidence of emergence delirium occurred in 10.6%. Of these, 81.4% were under 5 years of age, pain was significantly associated in 37.5% with PR = 3.63, 95%CI [1.20, 10.1] and it was observed that 68, 8% required palliative care. Conclusion: Pain was associated with delirium of postanesthetic emergence in children. Prevention and treatment of emergence delirium should focus on postoperative pain control and careful monitoring of patients after surgery.

Early diagnosis of primary lung and pleural malignancies is a challenge because it is extremely rare in children. The patient often presents with metastatic disease and non-neoplastic lesions. Clinical detection and imaging studies are nonspecific findings and may be indistinguishable from other lung malformations, resulting in a delay in diagnosis and treatment and an increase in tumor morbidity and mortality.

We present four cases of children whose clinical presentation and initial imaging had suspicious abnormalities and were eventually revealed to be primary lung and pleural malignancies. The literature on primary lung and pleural malignancies is also reviewed.

Constructive play is a creative process-oriented activity that promotes children’s engaged learning through building and designing with materials. This study investigated a parent-implemented intervention to promote active engagement in constructive play for preschool-aged children at risk for developmental delay. This study utilized a single-subject multiple-baseline across-participants design with four participants. Visual analysis of the data identified a functional relation between the temporal, physical, and social–emotional environmental support provided by the parents and the children’s active engagement in constructive play. Neighborhood socioeconomic context where Latinx children live may influence body weight status. Los Angeles County and Orange County of Southern California both are on the list of the top ten counties with the largest Latinx population in the USA. This heterogeneity allowed us to estimate differential impacts of neighborhood environment on children’s body mass index z-scores by race/ethnicity using novel methods and a rich data source. Objectives: We sought to determine risk factors associated with seizure recurrence following initial withdrawal of anti-seizure medications (ASM) among children with epilepsy.

Methods: This was a retrospective observational study of children aged between 2 and 18 years with a diagnosis of epilepsy who underwent withdrawal of anti-seizure medication following remission of seizures. All eligible medical records between January 2011 and December 2019 were included. Demographic, clinical, imaging and electroencephalography data of all eligible patients were analyzed against seizure remission within 24 months after withdrawal of ASM, using appropriate parametric and non-parametric tests.

Introduction: Children's early development is affected by caregiving experiences, with lifelong health and well-being implications. Governments and civil societies need population-based measures to monitor children's early development and ensure that children receive the care needed to thrive. This study aims to assess the relation between carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and cardiovascular risk factors in obese children.
