The objective was to enhance OTP knowledge and skills in delivering specialized sleep interventions through the development of an educational resource. The project was implemented across two settings: telehealth and an outpatient pediatric service, integrating both virtual and outdoor environments for occupational therapy (OT). Mckenna Farms Therapy Services is a therapeutic riding center that offers hippotherapy and therapeutic riding services. They also offer therapy services such as: physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy as well. This project focused on creating online occupational therapy resources (e.g., activities, worksheets, handouts). This project also included making a pamphlet that provided inclusive experiences in the Northwest Georgia area for children/families. The deliverables of this project are the online occupational therapy resource binder easily accessible in a google drive, and the physical pamphlet with information on inclusive experiences.

Drowning is the leading cause of death among individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The current study examined water orientation (i.e., comfort level), water safety, and beginning swimming skills of individuals with ASD of ages ranging from 3 to 13 years using the Aquatic Orientation Checklist (AOC) (Kilian et al., 1984). Data were collected during consecutive Fall and Spring semesters. A total of 23 children (n = 15 boys; n = 8 girls) volunteered for the study. In 1985, Thomas and French published results of a meta-analysis that examined sex differences in grip strength in children 5 years of age and older. Their analysis included results from only four studies, and no update has been published. The purpose of the current study was to use meta-analysis to examine sex differences in grip strength from birth to age 16. The analysis included 808 effects from 169 studies conducted in 45 countries between 1961 and 2023. The total sample was 353,676 (178,588 boys, 175,088 girls). Background: Clindamycin resistance among community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) complicates the management of a challenging infection. Little data exist to guide clinicians in the management of invasive clindamycin-resistant CA-MRSA infections in children and studies using oral regimens such as trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) and linezolid for treatment of these infections are limited. We sought to reevaluate antibiotic management among invasive CA-MRSA at a tertiary children’s hospital.

Synthesized knowledge of motor learning strategies could be used to facilitate the motor development of children with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). To map the current research, we followed the established framework and protocol for scoping reviews. Among the 25 papers, the most studied strategies include dual-task and observational learning. The studies predominantly involved children with cerebral palsy, but research is growing among children with intellectual disability, autism and developmental coordination disorder. Most of the studies integrated motor learning strategies in researcher-led interventions that are delivered over several weeks in school, home, or clinic settings. This project focused on career readiness, addressing community concerns by providing resources on career possibilities, educational pathways, and skills training. This Article argues that the abysmal state of children’s mental health in America is in part due to an overreliance on and over prescription of psychotropic drugs inside psychiatric residential institutions in lieu of community based mental health services. This overreliance on residential institutions and psychotropic drugs has allowed a new form of chemical restraint to flourish—the chemical straitjacket. Children post-tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) repair may present with chronic respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms that can affect quality of life.

OBJECTIVE: To identify factors associated with positive findings on triple endoscopy following neonatal TEF repair.

STUDY DESIGN: Case series with retrospective review of patients.

SETTING: Tertiary care center aerodigestive program.

METHODS: Children with neonatally repaired congenital TEF who had a triple endoscopy between 2011 and 2022 were reviewed. The presence of chronic cough, recurrent pulmonary infections, lipid-laden macrophages (LLM), and airway and esophageal anomalies were among the variables analyzed. Chi-square and Kruskal-Wallis univariate analysis was performed.
