Living donor transplantation (LDT), despite its documented benefits, does not occur as often as deceased donor transplants (DDT). Transplant social workers are an integral part of the transplant interdisciplinary team and are well trained in conducting psychoeducation. This action research study involved examining social work practice challenges that transplant social workers experience that prohibit them from conducting effective LDT education. Individuals from low-income countries such as those in the Asian region migrate to high-income countries and adopt obesogenic behaviors like sedentary lifestyles and high fat and sugar intake. This results in increased susceptibility to obesity, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. Young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) continue to struggle with community engagement despite decades of research and policy initiatives addressing postsecondary transition. Little is known about how patients’ socioeconomic factors, in conjunction with chronic health conditions, impact antibiotic prescribing rates in the United States.
