Alteration Of Gut Microbiome Diversity And Composition Following Treatment In Chronic Liver Diseases, Thananya Jinato
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Chronic liver diseases (CLD) have become a significant global health challenge due to their potential progression towards hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), resulting in increased morbidity and mortality rates worldwide. The major etiologies of CLD and HCC include viral infections such as hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV), as well as environmental factors such as high caloric intake and lifestyle changes, which contribute to the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In recent years, evidence has highlighted the association between these factors and the alteration of the gut microbiota, or dysbiosis, and its impact on health status and …

Cannabis root has been used as traditional medicines for a long time but root part has so far received less attention. Two triterpenoids, including friedelin and epifriedelanol, have been mainly found in cannabis root and they showed the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Although the root has a long history of medical use, it was overlooked. Also, it could be contaminated from the soil. Thus, it is important to find the alternative way to solve these issues. In this study, hairy root (HR) was induced and investigated the potential enhancement of four elicitors containing salicylic acid, methyl jasmonate, chitosan, and yeast …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has adversely affected global health due to high spreading and virulence. Moreover, the emergence of new variants found in multiple countries has been a major concern recently. Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Osteoporosis associated with old ages has emerged in 21st century as an increasing issue. To stimulate the mineral deposition in bone cells, Jagged1 (Jag1) protein has been demonstrated to trigger mineralization via Notch signaling pathway by binding to Notch2 receptor. Therefore, the Jag1 protein is one of promising candidates for osteoporosis treatment. However, Jag1 consisting of 1218 amino acids is infeasible to apply in clinical uses. Here we engineered Jag1 into truncated proteins containing key domains, Delta–Serrate–Lag-2 domain, N-terminal C2 domain and several epidermal growth factor–like domains which could be responsible for the binding of Notch receptor. To ensure the …
