The purpose of the present study was to investigate the improvement of articulation skills of children who received speech services through collaborative classroom-based intervention versus those who were provided services through traditional pull-out therapy. Nine children in first and second grades were treated using a collaborative classroom-based model and eleven first and second grade children were provided treatment in a pull-out setting. All twenty students were assessed using the Secord Contextual Articulation Tests (S-CAT) (Secord & Shine, 1997) at the beginning and end of the study. Objective: Development of integrated questions for undergraduate medical students and assessing students’ capability to retain and apply basic concepts in an integrated way.
Method: Multiple choice questions, attempting to probe understanding and application of different concepts, affiliated with different subjects and topics, were developed. As a pilot these were administered to the students of third year and final year at the end of their certifying examinations as a mock test. A non-aqueous titration method was developed to assay Loratadine bulk active and a High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method was developed to determine Loratadine's manufacturing impurity. The HPLC method was also suitable for simultaneously assay and related substance determination of Loratadine pharmaceutical preparations. In the tritation method, glacial acetic acid was chosen as an amphiprotic solvent. Loratadine ionised in glacial acetic acid; the conjugated base of acetic acid (Ac·), was then titrated with standardised perchloric acid. The relationship of anemia as a risk factor for child mortality was analyzed by using cross-sectional, longitudinal and case-control studies, and randomized trials. Five methods of estimation were adopted: 1) the proportion of child deaths attributable to anemia; 2) the proportion of anemic children who die in hospital studies; 3) the population-attributable risk of child mortality due to anemia; 4) survival analyses of mortality in anemic children; and 5) cause-specific anemia-related child mortality. Clenbuterol is a β₂ agonist/antagonist bronchodilator, and its identification in post-race samples may lead to sanctions. The objective of this study was to develop a specific and highly sensitive serum quantitation method for clenbuterol that would allow effective regulatory control of this agent in horses. The survey was developed to monitor priority health-risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of mortality, morbidity, and social problems, among youth and adults in the United States. There is very limited information available on the effects of gymnastics skills on spinal hyperextension. Eleven young female gymnasts between the ages of 11 and 15 participated in this study. The subjects height and weight were taken then they were screened for musculoskeletal injuries, normal abdominal and back extensor strength, normal hip flexor and hamstring flexibility, spondylolisthesis, and scoliosis. Hyperextension of the spinal column was measured during normal standing, hyperextending the spine in standing, and during four different gymnastics skills, using the Peak5 motion analysis system. This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts in diarrhoeic calves in Kars province. The study was conducted between February 1999 and June 1999, involving 140 diarrhoeic calves from 8 different localities (Kars-Central district, Karakaş, Bulanık, Karakale, Hacıhalil, Boğazköy, Susuz-Central district, and Arpaçay). These localities were visited once during the study period, and fresh faecal samples were taken from the rectums of the calves up to 3 months old. This study was carried out in Malatya and vicinity to determine the seroprevalance of Babesia ovis in sheep. A total of 220 sheep sera were tested against B. ovis using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). In addition, peripheral blood smears from these sheep were prepared and examined for B. ovis. The ELISA test showed that 55.9% of sheep were seropositive for B. ovis infection. The infection rate was 49.2% in sheep which were 1-12 months old and 59% in sheep which were older than one year. In the microscopic examination of blood smears, four out of 220 sheep were found …

Some characteristics related with the fattening performance of Tushin lambs reared in the Research and Application Farm of Ataturk University and subjected to intensive fattening were determined. The inital fattening weight, final fattening weight, and total and daily weight gain during the fattening period were 19.71 kg, 38.07 kg, 18.35 kg and 203.48 g respectively. An 8-year-old cow admitted to the Veterinary Faculty, Internal Medicine Clinic (University of Fırat, Elazığ/TURKEY), was diagnosed with intussusception, and the diagnosis was confirmed by experimental laparotomy. Intussusception was corrected by enterectomy and intestinal anastomosis. Defecation on the day following the operation indicated normal intestinal flow. The animal was kept under observation for ten days after the operation, and had a full recovery.

This study was conducted in two stages to determine the ensiled qualities of corn, alfalfa and sugar beet pulp, and the effects on food intake and nutrient digestibility of corn and alfalfa silages used alone, together and with sugar beet pulp silage in lambs. In the first stage, corn, alfalfa and sugar beet pulp were ensiled and silos were opened after 45 days. Silage samples were taken for determination of silage quality and the samples were analysed. This study investigated the improvement of narrative language arts curricular goals in 140 school-aged children in first and second grade from an east central Illinois elementary school. The progress of non-communication disordered children as well as children with documented speech-language deficits was evaluated. Five classrooms (3 first and 2 second grade) received collaborative classroom-based lessons from the speech-language pathologist (SLP) and classroom teacher. Narrative curricular goals were targeted during whole-class collaborative lessons provided once a week for 30 minutes and incorporated children's storybooks as the theme. This study investigated the effectiveness of gesture to facilitate communication in young children with language delays. Two children with expressive language delays, ages 18 and 22 months, served as participants. The children were exposed to intervention which targeted six vocabulary words verbally and through gesture, in two 45-minute treatment sessions weekly over a six-week period. Parent education and a home component were also included. A single subject multiple baseline across behaviors design was used to evaluate the effectiveness of gesture in intervention. This study investigated the efficacy of current medication treatment procedures for chronic schizophrenics on neuropsychological measures. A total of twenty participants from the Coles County Mental Health Center, who met DSM-IV criteria for chronic schizophrenia, volunteered to be administered the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST)-64 card version as a means of assessing neuropsychological executive functioning. This study examines communication between adult children of alcoholics and the social support systems that result from their relationships with their alcoholic parents. These relationships may form either with the alcoholic parent or with others around them. Surveys and a focus group were used to draw information from participants concerning social support systems, communication patterns, coping methods, and critical incidents that occurred during childhood. Adult children of alcoholics were also found to suffer from interpersonal problems, dependency problems, poorer communication skills, approval seeking tendencies, and intimacy problems. Increasing access to safe abortion services is the most effective way of preventing the burden of unsafe abortion, which is achieved by increasing safe choices for pregnancy termination. Medical abortion for termination of early abortion is said to safe, effective, and acceptable to women in several countries. In Ethiopia, however, medical methods have, until recently, never been used.
