Most animal breeding experiments are based on more than one economically important trait measured in each individual. In the statistical analysis of the resulting data, traits recorded in the same individuals are often considered one at a time. Usually we are interested, however, not only in the mode of inheritance of a particular trait but also in its relationships with other traits. Multivariate analyses are required to make inferences about genetic and phenotypic correlations between traits, but point estimates of such parameters can be poor even when breeding data on hundreds of animals are used. In this research, which investigated the quantitative histomorphologic development of the parabronchi and atria of lungs at 1, 3, 7, 15, 30 and 60 days old, 60 male quail were used. The interparabronchial septa were absent among the lung units which consist of parabronchi, atria and gas exchange tissue. It was observed that on the 1^{st} day of hatching, the lungs had the same properties as adults and that there was no structural difference between the right and left lungs. This study was carried out in Kıvırcık ewes to increase reproductive performance and synchronize oestrus by using progestagen pessaries (40 mg FGA) and different doses of PMSG (0, 500 and 700 IU) during the breeding season. A total of 473 sera from hens of different age groups and different breeds and a total of 430 eggs were collected from 11 breeders and egg producers in the districts of Adapazarı, Afyon, Ankara and Konya. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS), heat-extract (HE) and flagella antigens were tested in the standardizing ELISA technique. Flagella antigen was found useful in the screening of field samples. Of the 48 (10.2%) rapid plate agglutination positive sera, 7 were negative in ELISA. One hundred and seventy-three (36.6%) of the 473 sera and 76 (17.7%) of the 430 egg yolks were found to be positive with ELISA. …

The chicks were divided into four groups,one control and three experimental groups (II,III,IV). Zinc was given to the experimental groups at doses of 125, 500, 1000 mk/kg respectively, in their ration for 60 days.The electrocardiogram recordings were performed on chicks on the 60 th day of the experiment. In this study transferrin polymorphism was investigated in hair goat breeds raised in the Bursa region by using 148 blood samples of hair goat. The separation of transferrin types was carried out using horizontal starch-gel electrophoresis. The frequencies of transferrin alleles were calculated to be 0.54 ±0.029 and 0.46 ±0.029 for Tf A and Tf B , respectively. Differences between the expected and observed number of transferrin genotypes were insignificant.

The aim of this study was to examine the extent of the seasonal variation in concentrations of luteal ß-carotene in cows. The Navajo Area Indian Health Service, Health Promotion Program administered a modified version of the New Mexico 2000 Middle School Youth Risk Behavior Survey in April, 2000. The survey was developed to monitor priority health-risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of mortality, morbidity, and social problems, among youth and adults in the United States. A comparative study was conducted on the attitudes toward older adults between Counselors and Non Counselors. The participants included 50 Licensed Professional Counselors from the state of Missouri, who are registered members of the American Counseling Association (ACA), and 33 Graduate students from Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Missouri, who are enrolled in graduate programs unrelated to professional counseling. The participants completed a demographic questionnaire and the Facts on Aging Quiz' (FAQl). This investigation examined the conditional day-to-day relationship between alcohol use and workplace absenteeism among participants (N = 302) employed full-time in one of three large companies located in the northeastern U.S. Semi-structured interviews were used to gather information from employees on their daily use of alcohol and other drugs during a 1-month period. Employees' absenteeism and work injury data during the same target time period were gathered from personnel files residing in the companies' human resources departments. In rats, long daily wheel access produces an escalation to excessive levels of running while short daily access results in low stable levels of running. paralleling patterns of cocaine- taking (Lattanzio et al., 2000). Experiment I explored the effects of previous running experience (Phase l) on fixture running and feeding (Phase ll). The allocation and rationing of health care resources is, no doubt, one of the most pressing issues confronting contemporary society. These issues considered from a micro and a macro level of economic analysis are linked inextricably to utilitarianism which, in turn, relies upon a cost-benefit analysis which balances reasonable individual needs against the availability of medical resources within the larger community. This pilot study compares the mental models of a patient constructed by nurses and physicians while reading an electronic medical record. Preliminary results suggest that the participants' summaries were both quantitatively and qualitatively different. The physician made more inferences and focused on deeper relationships in the record, whereas the nurse focused on the descriptive surface structure of the record.

We display a poblational and transversal cohort study with 402 male and female patients of 55 years old or than oldness, from Santa Lucía Maracaibo City Parroquial. Neuropsychologic essays were performs for recent memory evaluation; as a result we obtain two groups: with recent memory disturb and recent memory normal. Weight (kg), tall (m), body mass index (w/t2) and fortituos blood pressure with Dynamap Critikon were performs too. Objectives: To find the predictive value of apolipoprotein E (apo E) and ambulatory measure of blood pressure in adolescents.

Methods: We performed ambulatory monitoring of blood pres- sure (AMBP) in 176 adolescents (13.18 years old) of both genders who came to the Center of cardiovascular Disease at the University of Zulia (Venezuela). The beta-blockers comprise a group of drugs that are mostly used to treat cardiovascular disorders such as hypertension, cardiac arrhythmia, or ischemic heart disease. Each of these drugs possesses at least one chiral center, and an inherent high degree of enantioselectivity in binding to the b-adrenergic receptor. For beta-blockers with a single chiral center, the (-) enantiomer possesses much greater affinity for binding to the b-adrenergic receptors than antipode. The enantiomers of some of these drugs possess other effects, such as antagonism at alpha-adrenergic receptors or Class III antiarrhythmic activity. This study set out to determine the reasons for underreporting of occupational injuries and exposures in the American health care environment. A cross sectional survey was used to report the responses and opinions of nurses who failed to report all occupational injuries and exposures, and the type of injuries that are least likely to be reported.
