Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal

Inhibition of the setting of putty poly(vinyl siloxane) impression materials has been reported when using latex gloves. The mechanism is from the free sulfur and its derivatives remained in the gloves reacted with chloroplatinic acid catalyst in the impression materials. This study was to evaluate the effect of gamma-ray and sulfur vulcanized latex gloves on the setting of 5 poly(vinyl siloxane) impression materials (Express, President, Elite, Provil, and Extrude). จุดประสงค์หลักในการรักษาคลองรากฟัน คือการทําความสะอาดคลองรากฟันรวมทั้งเตรียมคลองรากฟัน ให้อยู่ในสภาพที่สามารถอุดได้แน่นและเต็ม ดังนั้นการเตรียมคลองรากฟันจึงเป็นขั้นตอนหนึ่งซึ่งสําคัญสําหรับการ รักษาคลองรากฟัน ซึ่งในคลองรากที่โค้งมักก่อให้เกิดปัญหาในการเตรียมคลองรากฟันมากกว่าคลองรากฟันที่ตรง บทความนี้จะกล่าวถึงลักษณะโค้งของคลองรากฟัน การทําความสะอาด ตกแต่งรูปร่างของคลองรากฟัน การขยายคลองรากฟันส่วนต้น วิธีการใช้เครื่องมือ เทคนิคต่าง ๆ ที่ใช้ในการเตรียมคลองรากฟันที่โค้ง การเปรียบเทียบเทคนิคต่าง ๆ รวมทั้งข้อผิดพลาดที่อาจเกิดขึ้นได้และวิธีแก้ไข

ผลการยับยั้งการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อสเตรปโตคอคคัสมิวแทนส์ ด้วยแคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ในการรักษาคลองรากฟัน, อัญชนา พานิชอัตรา, Ratanau-Bol K., Kunsi B.

จากการศึกษาถึงผลการยับยั้งการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อสเตรปโตคอคคัส มิวแทนส์ ด้วยแคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ ซึ่งใช้ในการรักษาคลองรากฟัน 4 ชนิด คือ แคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ผสมน้ำ แคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ ผสม ซี.เอ็ม.ซี.พี. ไวตาเพกซ์ และพัลป์เดนท์ โดยใช้จานเพาะเลี้ยงเชื้อผสมเลือด จํานวน 30 จาน เจาะหลุมขนาดเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 4 ม.ม. จํานวน 5 หลุม ในแต่ละจาน เพื่อใส่วัสดุทดสอบ 4 หลุม หลุมที่ 5 จะเป็นหลุมควบคุมนําจานเพาะเชื้อที่เตรียมแล้วไปอบในแคนเดิลจาร์ ที่อุณหภูมิ 37 องศาเซลเซียส แล้วนํามาวัดขอบเขตการยับยั้งการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อในวันที่ 2,7 และ 14 ตามลําดับ พบว่าวัสดุทุกชนิดมีความสามารถในการยับยั้งการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อสเตรปโตคอคคัส มิวแทนส์ได้โดยวัสดุทุกชนิดมีความแตกต่างกันในการยับยั้งการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อสเตรปโตคอคคัส มิวแทนส์ ยกเว้นเมื่อเปรียบเทียบระหว่าง แคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ผสมน้ำกับพัลป์เดนท์ซึ่งไม่มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญ และพบว่าแคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ผสมซี.เอ็ม.ซี.พี. ให้ผลยับยั้งต่อสเตรปโตคอคคัส มิวแทนส์มากที่สุด โดยที่ไวตาเพกซ์ให้ผลยับยั้งน้อยที่สุด ซึ่งในการทดลองนี้ได้เลือกใช้เชื้อสเตรปโตคอคคัส มิวแทนส์ เนื่องจากเป็นเชื้อที่พบได้ในคลองรากฟันที่มีการติดเชื้อ และสามารถเพาะเลี้ยงได้ง่าย

เนื่องจากมีผู้ให้เหตุผลสนับสนุนและคัดค้านการใส่ยาในคลองรากฟัน บทความปริทัศน์นี้จะแสดงให้เห็นถึงข้อสรุปของการใส่ยาในคลองรากฟัน ซึ่งยังมีความจําเป็นอยู่ เนื่องจากมียาหลายชนิดที่ใช้กันอยู่ในขณะนี้และยังไม่มียาชนิดใดมีคุณสมบัติตรงตามอุดมคติ การเลือกใช้ยาจึงควรพิจารณาตามคุณสมบัติที่ต้องการตามแต่กรณี ในการรักษาคลองรากฟันโดยทั่วไป คุณสมบัติหลักที่ต้องการ คือคุณสมบัติในการต้านจุลชีพ แคลเซียมไฮดรอกไซด์ นับว่ามีความเหมาะสมมากที่สุดในขณะนี้ เนื่องจากมีคุณสมบัติในการต้านจุลชีพที่ดีและออกฤทธิ์ได้นาน ช่วยละลายเนื้อเยื่อ นอกจากนี้ยังกระตุ้นการสร้างเนื้อเยื่อแข็ง และควบคุมการละลายรากฟันจากการอักเสบ กรณีที่ต้องการบรรเทาปวดหลังรักษานั้นยาในกลุ่มสเตียรอยด์สามารถลดปวดได้ในฟันเนื้อเยื่อในที่มีชีวิต

การรักษาฟันน้ำนมที่ผุทะลุโพรงประสาท โดยวิธีพัลโพโตมี ด้วย ซิงค์ ออกไซด์ ยูจีนอล ซีเมนต์ ทําการศึกษาทางคลินิก และภาพถ่ายรังสี ในผู้ป่วยเด็กที่มาทําการบําบัดทางทันตกรรม ในกลุ่มงานทันตกรรม โรงพยาบาลกลาง จํานวน 67 ราย อายุเฉลี่ย 6 ปี โดยเลือกศึกษาเฉพาะฟันกรามน้ำนมที่มีอาการผลึกใกล้ถึงโพรงประสาทหรือทะลุโพรงประสาทขนาดเล็ก ไม่มีการอักเสบบริเวณปลายรากฟัน จํานวน 122 ซี่ ติดตามผลระยะเวลา 12, 18 และ 24 เดือนตามลําดับ ได้ผลเป็นที่น่าพอใจ 96.7% และไม่น่าพอใจ 3.3%

The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is one of those benign tumors which are formed in odontogenic tissue or originated from the epithelial lining of odontogenic cyst. This is a case report of a 12 years old Thai boy who visited a dentist with the enlargement at his left ala of the nose for 2 weeks. The clinical preoperative diagnosis was dentigerous cyst. Surgical enucleation was performed under general anesthesia. No recurrence has been found after surgical removal for a 20 month follow up period. The healing process was found to be satisfactory. การให้การบําบัดทางทันตกรรมแก่ผู้ป่วยที่ได้รับการฉายรังสีเพื่อรักษาโรคมะเร็งบริเวณศีรษะและลําคอค่อนข้างลําบาก เนื่องจากรังสีทําให้เกิดมีอาการแทรกซ้อนค่อนข้างสูงกับตัวฟัน เนื้อเยื่อรอบรากฟันและกระดูก ขากรรไกร มีอุบัติการของการเกิดการผุของฟันและอวัยวะรอบรากฟันถูกทําลายเพิ่มมากขึ้น ถ้ามีการถอนฟันในตําแหน่งที่สัมผัสโดยตรงต่อรังสีจะมีการทําลายของกระดูกบริเวณนั้นตามมา การหายของแผลจะช้า การให้การบูรณะฟัน รักษาคลองรากฟัน การรักษาโรคปริทันต์ต้องทําด้วยความระมัดระวัง บทความนี้จะกล่าวถึงการให้การ รักษาโรคฟันแก่ผู้ป่วยที่เป็นโรคมะเร็งบริเวณใบหน้าที่ได้รับการบําบัดโรคมะเร็งโดยการฉายรังสีเสร็จเรียบร้อยแล้ว รวมทั้งข้อเสนอแนะบางประการในการดูแลรักษาผู้ป่วย เพื่อให้ผู้ป่วยได้มีสุขภาพในช่องปากที่ดีซึ่งจะส่งผลให้ร่างกายผู้ป่วยสมบูรณ์และแข็งแรง สามารถดํารงชีวิตได้ตามปกติ

The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare

Social policy decisions are often made based upon socially constructed models of human behavior. As such, understanding the social constructions in a given policy area is of utmost importance. This study examines three competing models within the substance abuse area: the moral model, the disease model, and the biopsychosocial model. Utilizing survey data from a random sample telephone survey of 1,019 residents of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, the study examines a) the degree to which individual models are internally consistent between beliefs about causes and beliefs about solutions, b) whether the assumptions in competing models are in fact different; and c) …

Incarnating Heaven: Making The Hospice Philosophy Mean Business, Mark A. Mesler, Pamela J. Miller

The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare

Hospice providers in the U.S. are on the horns of a dilemma. Survival of individual programs may require accreditation for third party reimbursement, but this stronger alignment with the business world of medicine may jeopardize their unique philosophy of care for dying persons. Hospice's current business/philosophy dilemma was expressed succinctly by a study participant as attempting to incarnate heaven. Data gathered through an ongoing participant observation study reveals the effects of current third party reimbursement on hospice practice. Further, these effects have implications for current U.S. health care reform efforts which are discussed in conclusion.

Ceasarean Section In Python (Python Molurus Bivittatus), Kaywalee Chatdarong, Sumit Durongpongthorn

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Ceasarean section was performed in a python (Python molurus bivittatus). Anesthesia was induced by using ketamine hydrochloride, 35 mg/kg and maintained by inhalation anesthesia using halothane via endotracheal tube. Celiotomy and salpingotomy were made to remove forty one eggs and the oviducts and skin were subsequently closed. The technique of caesarian section was similar to that of mammals.(ทำการผ่าตัดเอาไข่ออกทางหน้าท้องงูหลาม (Python molurus bivittatus) ซึ่งมีอาการออกไข่ยาก จึงวางยาสลบโดยใช้เคทตามีน ไฮโดรคลอไรด์ 35 มก./กก. รักษาภาวะการสลบ โดยใช้ก๊าซฮาโลเทนผ่านท่อสอดหลอดลม ทำการผ่าตัดเปิดช่องท้องและท่อนำไข่เพื่อเอาไข่ที่เหลืออยู่ออกทั้งหมด 41 ฟอง เย็บปิดท่อนำไข่และผิวหนังเช่นเดียวกับการผ่าตัดเอาลูกออกทางหน้าท้องในสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนม)

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Two hundred and sixty six samples of raw milk were collected at farms and at the corresponding milk collecting centers for bacterial culture. Total bacterial count and coliform count of raw milk collected at farm were significantly lower than of those collected at the milk collection centers (MCC) indicating that the number of bacteria in milk were increased during transportation. The percentage of the samples collected at farm and at MCC with total count less than 500,000 colony forming unit/ml (CFU/ml) were 77.85 and 61.97%, respectively. Coliforms count did not exceed 1,000 CFU/ml in 69.44 and 57.33% of the samples, …

In vitro test on bacteriocidal effectiveness of 2% Sodium Chlorite solution was evaluated. The disinfectant was diluted to 1:10, 1:32, 1:64 and 1:10 v/v. Each dilution was exposed to different bacteria for 1, 10, 40 and 60 minutes at room temperature. It appeared that Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli, Salmonella enteritidis and Sal. typhimurium were completely inhibited within 1 minute at concentration 1:10, 1:32 and 1:64 v/v. Proteus mirabilis was completely inhibited within 1, 1 and 10 minutes at concentration 1:10, 1:32 and 1:64 v/V, 1:64 v/v, respectively. Real-time B-mode ultrasound with 3.5 MHz. convex secton scanner was used for pregnancy diagnosis in 451 sows at 18-35 days of gestation. Sensitivity of this technique was 92.2-98.4% which was closed to the +ve predictive value. The value of the specificity was varied from 33.3 to 100% and it was closed to the -ve predictive value. Embryonic vesicle diameter was 1.8-2.0 cm. at 18-21 days of gestation and it increased rapidly after that. Embryo could be seen around the 19th day of gestation. Two hundreds and sixteen samples of raw cow milk were analysed for major milk components using Milko Scan 133B. It was found that 98.1, 95.5, 81.5, 88.4 and 67.6% of samples tested contained fat, protein, lactose, total solids and solids not fat >3.6, >3.2, >4.4, >12.5 and >8.5%, respectively.
