Bladder compliance expresses the relationship between bladder volume and detrusor pressure and is generally regarded as a measure of bladder stiffness or distensibility. Based on the varied selection criteria during the urodynamic study, differences in bladder compliance often exist. This casereport describes a patient with chronic pain due to piriformis myofascial pain syndrome related to lumbar facet joint lesion. The purpose is to demonstrate the elimination of the underlying etiological lesion by lumbar facet joint injection with steroid suspension for a complete and effective treatment of piriformis myofascial pain syndrome in order to obtain a permanent pain relief. Background and Objective: Several evidence-based treatment programs for improving upper extremity functions such as constraint-induced therapy (CIT)/modified CIT (mCIT) and bilateral movement training (BMT) have been developed recently. The mCIT program combines restraint of the unaffected hand with intensive training of the affected hand, and BMT involves intensive bilateral training with symmetrical functional training. Intravenous pyelography (IVP) is a common tool for evaluating the upper urinary tract in spinal cord injury patients. To obtain a proper image, bowel preparation is required. Among the regimens for bowel preparation, polyethylene glycol (PEG) electrolyte lavage solution has a good cleansing quality and fewer side effects. Nonetheless, adverse effects of the regimen, though rare, have been reported. A 21-year-old man had progressive weakness and numbness of bilateral lower extremities and sphincter dysfunction after a traffic accident. The image and electrodiagnostic study showed no significant abnormal findings. Conversion paraplegia was suspected due to unusual clinical presentation, which cannot be explained by neuropathologic lesions. After intensive rehabilitation, patient's functional performance improved significantly and he could walk independently without device. Wilson disease is a rare autosomal recessive inherited disorder of copper metabolism. The genetic defect, localized to chromosome arm 13q, has been shown to affect the copper-transporting adenosine triphosphatase gene. The major pathology is excessive deposition of copper in the liver, brain, and other tissues. The most common presenting neurological features are tremor, dystonia and ataxia that influence the motor control and gait. The diagnosis is confirmed by measurement of serum ceruloplasmin, urinary copper excretion and hepatic copper content as well as the detection of Kayser-Fleischer rings.The subject in our case study is a 25-year-old, female patient with Wilson disease. …

Background: Retroperitoneal liposarcoma is one of the common soft-tissue tumors that occur in the retroperitoneal cavity. It often invades adjacent structures and causes symptoms of gastrointestinal or urinary tract infection. However, it rarely causes sciatica by compressing the lumbosarcral nerve roots. Although health promotion issues specific to people with physical disabilities have received much attention in the last ten years, related clinical trials studying the efficacy and viability of these programs are lacking. In this pilot study, we implemented a short-term health promotion intervention for overweight/obese post-polio survivors. The study design included a three-month intervention containing exercise, diet education and health behavior modification, a before-and-after comparison, and a 12-month follow-up.Thirty one subjects were enrolled. The main causes of cervical spine injury vary among different age groups. Elderly people have a tendency to sustain injuries due to falls, which is a low energy mechanism of injury. Here, we report a case of a 76-year-old woman who fell down from sitting and suffered severe dislocation of the C5 on the C6 vertebra and locking of the bilateral facet joints. She showed spontaneous reduction of the dislocation on a magnetic resonance image taken 3 h after the injury. Segmental zoster paresis is a rare complication of cutaneous herpes zoster. Clinical diagnosis of segmental zoster paresis depends upon a history of painful vesicular eruptions in a dermatomal distribution, followed by muscle weakness in the related myotomes. We report the case of a 45-year-old woman with opticospinal type multiple sclerosis with recent cutaneous herpes zoster and right shoulder girdle weakness. Differential diagnosis included multiple sclerosis relapse, zoster myelitis, segmental zoster shoulder paresis, cervical radiculopathy, and shoulder joint or soft-tissue disorders. High-resolution ultrasonography is a useful tool for the localization of non-palpable soft-tissue foreign bodies. A 21-year-old female underwent a routine health examination, during which chest radiography revealed a radio-opaque linear foreign body. Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is a common clinical problem for patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) at the cervical or high thoracic level when they move from the supine position to the upright position. Patients with severe SCI frequently suffer from symptoms of OH during head-up tilt, ranging from slight lightheadedness to full syncope. Finger Tapping Test (FTT), a neuro-psychological test, is thought to be associated with dopamine. We report a case of an adult patient with post-traumatic hydrocephalus who was treated using a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt with a fixed pressure setting valve. Slit ventricle syndrome was found two months later and an antisiphon device (ASD) was added. A fixed pressure valve with ASD was found not to be optimal in terms of improving his neurological symptoms and a programmable valve system was therefore implanted with a pressure setting of 140 mmH2O in the beginning. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of high voltage galvanic stimulation (HVGS) on blood chemistry, sleeping quality and HRQL among hemodialysis patients.Methods: This is an experimental one way repeated measure design. This study investigated whether a stroke patient with left hemianopsia, which was confirmed by the perimetric test, may also have hemineglect. The relationship between hemineglect and hemianopia in patients with right hemispheric stroke was evaluated. Eleven subjects with left unilateral neglect underwent three testing sessions separated in time. The three test sessions, including cancellation and static perimetric tests, were performed at approximately 3 months, 4 months, and 7 months post the onset of the stroke. Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) refers to skeletal muscle pain that follows strenuous and unaccustomed physical activity. The intensity of discomfort peaks at 24 to 48 hours, and subsides within 5 to 7 days post-exercise. It appears that DOMS occurs most frequently following unaccustomed eccentric exercise. However, it is not clear whether sensitivity to pain is uniform over the surface of the muscle, or whether some locations become more sensitive following eccentric exercise. The objective of this study is to determine the reliability and validity of a clinical measurement for functional leg-length discrepancy (LLD) using the level and paper thickness correction (LPC) method to determine intra-rater and inter-rater reliability and validity. We induced a simulated LLD (5-30 mm) for each subject twice in a block-simulating group (n=17), none of whom had an apparent LLD. Plugged ducts are a common problem during lactation. They often occur when the breast is not emptied properly, or when there is local pressure on the breast. Plugged ducts usually occur three to four weeks postpartum. Symptoms include a sensitive lump with well-defined margins in the breast. There may be pain and tenderness in the affected area, although this is not necessarily accompanied by systemic symptoms such as high-grade fever. The bicipitoradial bursa is located between the distal biceps tendon and the radial tuberosity. The bursa functions as a buffer to reduce the friction between tendon and bone during pronation of the forearm. Bicipitoradial bursitis most frequently results from repetitive mechanical microtrauma by supination and pronation movements of the forearm, and it may cause painful swelling at the antecubital fossa. The aim of this study was to investigate the immediate effects of upper extremity loading exercises on conduction in the median and ulnar nerves in the wrists of hemiplegic patients. Seventeen hemiplegic patients without past history of carpal tunnel syndrome or other confounding diseases and seventeen healthy and physically-matched control subjects were recruited.
