In America today there is great concern about obesity. In an attempt to balance a busy daily life with a healthy diet, consumers are now relying on artificial sweeteners to help them make a small step to a better lifestyle. With this notion in mind, there is the question of whether these artificial sweeteners are healthy. This paper discusses the effects of artificial sweeteners on weight and caloric compensation, and considers some hypotheses regarding the reasons for weight gain.

Individuals with fragile X syndrome (FXS) often exhibit increased internalizing problem behaviors that substantially impact functioning. Research suggests that maternal depressive symptoms can increase the development of internalizing problem behaviors in their children. The present study examined whether (1) maternal depressive symptoms related to the degree of internalizing behaviors exhibited in their sons with FXS, and (2) age as an influencing factor for the development of internalizing behaviors. Child internalizing behaviors were measured in 49 male children with FXS (range 1.08-5.75 yrs). This study is a cross-cultural exploration of consumer hoarding behavior during Covid-19; specifically, a comparison between Sweden and the United States. This research analyzes whether Swedish and American consumer hoarding behavior factors of prosocial orientation, consumer resilience and consumer risk-taking propensity reflect identical relationships during less predictable environmental forces (i.e., Covid-19 or global pandemic). Results from Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) show that consumer prosocial orientation is negatively related to consumer hoarding and prosocial orientation is positively related to consumer resilience. Tracheal stenosis may arise from congenital malformation, trauma, prolonged intubation, or malignancy. Surgical correction of such lesions poses a major challenge, especially when airway management becomes difficult due to the location and extent of narrowing.

Case Summary:

We report a case of a 64-year-old male with circumferential thickening of the trachea at the D2–D3 level, exhibiting a 1.3cm long segmental narrowing. The patient underwent tracheal ring resection with veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) support. Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are congenital vascular anomalies that can be present with seizures or hemorrhage. Management strategies vary based on Spetzler-Martin (SM) grading.

Case Presentation

I report a case of a 22-year-old female presenting with recurrent seizures due to an unruptured AVM (SM Grade 3) located in the left medial temporal lobe. Diagnosis was established using MRI and Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA).

Intervention

The patient underwent single-fraction stereotactic radio-surgery (SRS) with curative intent using a TrueBeam linear accelerator.

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a rare genetic disorder marked by progressive fibrofatty replacement of the right ventricle, causing life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death (SCD). It is predominantly seen in young adults. As the substrate often involves both RV endocardium & epicardium, conventional ablation is often not successful. One of the effective therapies is combined endo- epicardial ablation, which gives good arrhythmia control and reduction of AICD (Automated Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) shock. Angka kematian bayi (AKB), khususnya kematian neonatal, merupakan indikator fundamental dalam menilai kualitas pelayanan kesehatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi AKB di 24 kabupaten/kota di Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Variabel independen yang dikaji mencakup dimensi layanan kesehatan, kondisi sosial ekonomi, pendidikan perempuan, sanitasi, air bersih, dan indikator demografis. Background: Clinical pathways in emergency departments (ED) are designed to standardize patient care and reduce variability in clinical practice. In a rural hospital setting, the ED management of RhoGAM administration in pregnant patients with vaginal bleeding varied by provider with no standard of care achieved. This approach raised concerns about potential patient safety issues.
