Brachycephalic airway obstructive syndrome (BAOS) is an anatomical abnormality of the upper airway commonly found in brachycephalic breeds, leading to clinical signs and physical capacity impairment. The degree of stenotic nares was reported to be related to BAOS severity in French bulldogs. This study aimed to compare clinical signs and physical capacity in French bulldogs before and after BAOS surgery using modified Roedler questionnaires and a 6-minute walk test (6-MWT). Twenty-seven French bulldogs were enrolled in this study (non-BAOS control (n=7), non-severe stenotic nares BAOS dogs (n=8), and severe stenotic nares BAOS dogs (n=12). The most frequent abnormalities: the shallow trochlear groove and tibial tuberosity medialisation are corrected surgically with trochleoplasty and tibial tuberosity transposition, respectively. Gastrointestinal infectious diseases caused by bacteria have been a major problem in the swine industry, including Thailand. Porcine proliferative enteropathy (PPE), also known as porcine ileitis, is an enteric infectious disease caused by Lawsonia intracellularis – an obligate intracellular bacterium. PPE has been an economic threat to the global pork production system due to various types of diarrheas. Mammary tumors are the most common neoplasm in dogs, with a high mortality rate. The development of canine mammary tumors (CMT) is multifactorial, but different incidence rates between breeds suggest the effects of genetic risk factors. Flavonol quercetin (Q), found in vegetables and fruits, demonstrates the most potent anti-inflammatory effect. The preventive effect and cellular mechanisms of Q (Q1, Q10, and Q100 µM) on IL-1β induced leaky gut via the signaling molecules of inflammatory pathway, NF-κB p65-iκB/or p38/ERK1/2/MLCK/phospho(p)-MLC were investigated in Caco-2 cells. The cytotoxic effect of Q was initially determined by MTT assay. Surgical sterilization stands as a key solution to address the overpopulation of dogs and cats, with numerous influencing factors impacting the success of population control efforts, including species, gender, and financial conditions. The emergence of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), or COVID-19, in 2020 has significantly altered human life and impacted pet animals. The chemotherapy for canine cutaneous epitheliotropic T cell lymphoma (CETL) might cause unpleasant side effects or fail to produce positive results. We attempted a different approach with a more tolerable treatment option. We administered a high dose of oclacitinib (1.6 mg/kg/twice daily) to a patient diagnosed with CETL through histopathological examination and immunocytochemical staining. The patient had previously shown a poor response to chemotherapy and severe side effects to steroids. Within one month of starting oclacitinib treatment, we observed significant improvement in clinical symptoms, followed by improved appetite, increased activity, and weight gain after 2.5 months. A young male Dachshund dog who came to the animal hospital was diagnosed with conjunctivitis on clinical examination. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius was identified as a result of culture and bacteriological examination of the conjunctival swab, and then antimicrobial susceptibility test. Methicillin resistant S. pseudintermedius identified with the VITEK-II Compact device was also confirmed by molecular methods so that susceptible antibiotics were selected for the treatment of the patient and reported. In accordance with the antimicrobial susceptibility results, the patient was treated with an eye drop preparation containing neomycin. A 3-year-old mixed-breed dog presenting with a recurrent maxillofacial tumor was diagnosed with recurrent rhabdomyosarcoma. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a left maxillofacial mass, left cervical lymph node enlargement, epidural mass dorsal to the 6th lumbar vertebra compressing the cauda equina, soft-tissue mass ventral to the 6th lumbar vertebra, multiple subcutaneous nodules and signal changes in the paravertebral muscles. The left maxilla, lumbar spine and ilium exhibited diffuse signal changes and contrast enhancement upon magnetic resonance imaging. This is, to our knowledge, the first reported case of bone marrow and epidural-space involvement of a canine rhabdomyosarcoma.

Mycoplasma synoviae antibodies detection using rapid serum agglutination (RSA) assay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is considered as the suitable screening tool in chicken flocks. Both RSA assay and ELISA have performed an ability to detect an antibody formation during mycoplasma infection due to their sensitivity in detecting both IgM and IgY. However, the IgY is the major antibody isotype transferred from the hen to the newly hatched broiler chick via egg yolk. The study aimed to investigate the effect of tannic acid (TA) on total antioxidant power (FRAP), malondialdehyde (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), nitric oxide (NO), and the viability of broiler blood cells (BBC) exposed to high ambient temperatures. The BBC from a broiler chicken was exposed to temperatures ranging from 41.5°C to 46°C and incubated with TA at concentrations of 0 (the positive control group, TPCG), 5, 10, 15, and 20 μg/mL. The second degree burn wound was performed using 1 cm in diameter, on 100 °C heated cylindrical brass bar applied to the dorsum of pig skin. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of dexmedetomidine (DEX) alone on pain mitigation following cautery disbudding in calves. A total of 21 calves were randomly divided into three groups: sham-disbudded control with placebo (S, n = 8); hot-iron disbudded after placebo (D, n = 6); hot-iron disbudded after 0.01 mg/kg of DEX (DeD, n = 7). The aim of this study was to report the clinical and radiographic outcome from using an interlocking nail (ILN) technique for the stabilization of long bone fractures in 15 calves. Forty-eight calves with fractures were presented to the large animal hospital. The veterinary curriculum includes an anesthesia and surgery course that utilizes live animal laboratories and euthanasia, potentially causing stress in students. We used a validated psychology questionnaire to assess their stress levels, confirming that live animal laboratories induce significant stress. Antimicrobial agents are a cause of the increase in antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) bacteria. We investigated the prevalence and characteristics of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing bacteria in captive wild animals before and after exposure to antimicrobial agents. Sixty-six fecal samples were collected from captive animals (spotted deer, Rusa deer, geese, chickens, rabbits, and guinea pigs) at the Mahasarakham University Mini Zoo in Thailand on three sampling occasions: October 2021, January 2022, and April 2022. Transmissible viral proventriculitis (TVP) is an infectious disease-causing retarded growth in chickens. In Thailand, many stunted chickens have been found on commercial broiler farms since 2017. Significant post-mortem lesions are found only in the proventriculus. This study aims to investigate the causative agents of TVP outbreaks focusing on chicken proventricular necrosis virus (CPNV), the possible significant cause of TVP. CPNV was reproduced in specific pathogen-free (SPF) chickens. Affected chickens that have undergone proventriculitis are CPNV-positive by RT-PCR and nucleotide sequencing followed by phylogenetic analysis. Freeze-drying (FD) is a sperm preservation method that eliminates the need for liquid nitrogen. However, the FD process can expose sperm to free radicals and temperature variations. This study aimed to determine the impact of rosmarinic acid (RA) as an antioxidant, initial sperm motility, and storage temperature on the DNA integrity of freeze-dried dog sperm. The present study evaluates the clinical effects of early post-partum prostaglandin administration on milk output, vaginal discharge and mastitis in sow. Two groups of sows were used: sows (n = 25) treated with prostaglandin F-2alpha (PGF-2α) intramuscularly 36 h after farrowing and a control group (n = 48) that did not receive any treatment. Seventy-two hours after farrowing, all animals were scored for rectal temperature, respiratory rate, feed ingestion, milk output, vaginal discharge and mastitis. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) causes impaired kidney function in humans. However, this occurrence has not been well investigated in PAH dogs. Serum symmetrical dimethylarginine (SDMA) is one of the early biomarkers of kidney impairment. The present study aims to evaluate SDMA levels of first diagnosed PAH (n=14) compared with healthy dogs (n=12) and to analyze the correlation between SDMA levels and significant echocardiographic parameters of PAH dogs. The thymus generally presents as a sail-shaped soft-tissue opacity on thoracic radiographs in young, pre-pubescent dogs. After puberty, lymphatic tissue is replaced by adipose tissue and can usually no longer be identified on radiographs; however, thymic remnants have often been observed in adult dogs. The objective of this retrospective descriptive study was to investigate the incidence of thymic remnants using thoracic radiographs and to analyze the incidence in dogs by age, sex and breed.
