These care plans provide patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or their caregivers the opportunity to identify individualized needs that are imperative for healthcare providers to provide personalized care and accommodations. These ACPs identify baseline characteristics, behavior patterns, communication techniques and management strategies for the patient with ASD during hospitalization. Corrections professionals experience some of the highest levels of chronic stress compared to other occupations. This leads to poor mental and physical health, increased mortality, negative job performance, and increased economic costs, such as work-related injuries, sick leave, worker’s compensation claims and disability. Improving health and safety among this occupation requires identifying the factors contributing to stress and the associated economic impact. We assessed corrections professionals (n=296) working at six different Oregon Department of Corrections facilities near the Portland-area of varying security levels. According to the CDC, deaths from legal intervention are defined as deaths caused by injuries inflicted by law enforcement officers. Although some studies have examined high rates of fatal legal intervention shootings among African Americans, rates for Native Americans have not been adequately examined, despite similar racial biases and stereotypes. This study aims to examine national data and examine the association of fatal legal intervention shootings and Native communities.

PhD students have unique needs and require different resources and services from the library than undergraduates, which is especially true of professionals in a nursing program. As clinicians, many do not have experience with the research and writing intensive requirements of a doctoral degree. The majority have not taken classes for years, and their master’s degrees were more hands-on, clinically-based. They often do not feel confident in their ability to search the literature, read closely, or write expansively. The mannose-6-phosphate/insulin-like growth factor 2 (M6P/IGF2) receptor is a transmembrane protein with the ability to sequester growth factors from the extracellular matrix. This behavior links the receptor to tumor suppression. On a structural level, the extracellular portion of the protein is segmented into 15 homologous repeats, which can be divided further into 5 triplet domains, labelled 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, and 13-15. Each triplet receptor displays its own unique ligand binding affinity, including the ability to form dimers with triplets on a second M6P/IGF2 receptor. They experience many safety and health hazards on the front-line that can lead to injuries, chronic illnesses, and even death. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) outlines various methods and variables for defining food deserts, in attempts to standardize what constitutes a food desert or their characteristics. The USDA identifies the state of Nebraska as having both rural and urban food deserts, with an increase of food insecurity from 1.1% – 3.0% between 2007 and 2012 and warns of further increase of food deserts and its impact if measures are not taken. Introduction: Combined Spinal Epidural (CSE) is often used as the primary anesthetic for Total Knee Arthroplasties (TKA) (4). Intrathecal morphine (ITM) is associated with pruritus, post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV), and respiratory depression(3). Our institutional preference for TKA includes an opioid free CSE with Adductor Canal (AC) block. The objective of this study is to ascertain if CSE with AC block is beneficial as compared to CSE with ITM for TKA. We hypothesized improved side-effect profile and non-inferior pain control.

Patients with immune dysregulation polyendocrinopathy enteropathy X-linked (IPEX) syndrome usually present with autoimmunity, but are also prone to significant infections. In this case report, we introduce a 21-year-old gentleman with IPEX syndrome who presented to our ED with witnessed episodes of tonic-clonic seizures that likely represented aseptic meningitis secondary to Ehrlichia infection.

We determined that our patient’s clear exposure history to animals likely carrying zoonotic diseases fits the clinical picture of aseptic meningitis that was triggered by systemic tick-borne infection.
