Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Faecai specimens from 172 diarrhoeic and 130 healthy cattle were examined for the presence of Crytosporidium spp., Eschricia coli K99 and Rotavirus in Ankara, Turkey. The prevalence of the Crytosporidium spp. infection in diarrhoeic and non-dierrhoeic cattle was 63.3% and 69.2%, respectively. Crytosporidium positive faecal specimens were examined for the presence of E. coli K99 and Rotavirus. E. coli K99 was isolated from the feaces of 35 diarrhoeic (32.1%) and 23 healthy (25.5%) animals. Rotavirus was not detected in any of feacal samples. In vitro drug sensitivities indicated that E. coli K99 was sensitive to Nalidixic acid in both diarrhoeic …

The Effect Of Atp-Dependent Potassium Channel Blocker, Glimeprid, On The Arrhythmiasobserved Following Ischemia And Reperfusion In Anesthesized Rats, Ömer Bozdoğan, Istvan Lepran, Julius Gy Pap Jan 1998

The Effect Of Atp-Dependent Potassium Channel Blocker, Glimeprid, On The Arrhythmiasobserved Following Ischemia And Reperfusion In Anesthesized Rats, Ömer Bozdoğan, Istvan Lepran, Julius Gy Pap

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In recent years, it has been discussed intensively whether the potassium channel openers or blockers have antiarrhythmic effect during ischemia and reperfusion. Although there are many in vitro studies suggesting the potassium channel blokers especial-ly glibenclamide have antiarrhythmic effect, there is a very few in vivo expertiment to support the same result. In the present study, left arteria coronaria descendence (LAD) was ligated in 6min and following reperfusion was made by relasing the ligature. ECG and arterial blood pressure were recorded during the ischemia and reperfusion. The heart rate, the length of arrhythmia, the score of arrhythmia and the number …

Estrous, Ovulation And Pregnancy Rates Followingpgf_{2\Alpha} Injections In Mares, Mürsel Demi̇rel, Ahmet Semacan, İbrahim Taşal

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Prostaglandin F2a was commonly used for synchronisation in mares. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of single and double doses of PGF2a on estrous, ovulation and pregnancy rates. Therefore 43 Thoroughbred mares, between 4-17 years old, were used. Thirty mares 10 mg PGF2a (Dinoprost Tromethamine, Dinolytic) was injected intramuscularly, regardless of the stage of the estrous cycle, for synchronization. Estrous behaviors and follicular development were examined with daily teasing and rectal palpation every other day, after PGF2a injection and ovulation times determined daily rectal palpation during estrous. The ma-res which in estrous (n: 11) natural service …
