The wine opener (in the red case) was given for DeVito's participation in the 10th Annual Classic Wines Auction, a benefit sponsored by Metropolitan Family Services. The Portland law firm of Gevurtz, Menashe, Larson, Kurshner & Yates, P.C. gave away the openers.

This assortment of objects represents Phillip DeVito's wine expertise. DeVito's long Oregon wine career included being the maître d’hôtel and cellar master for the fine dining and wine program at Salishan Lodge in Gleneden Beach, Oregon from 1972 to 1994.

The goblet was given to DeVito for his role in getting Salishan Lodge nominated as the 1986 Oregon Restaurant of the Year.

The silver cup was presented to DeVito as a Master Sommelier (or "Maestro") on June 1, 1975.

In the summer of 2014, Linfield College and Whitman College archivists Rachael Woody and Melissa Salrin teamed up to document the history of the Walla Walla wine industry. While collaboration in the archives isn’t new, Woody and Salrin offer their perspective on the benefits of such partnerships even when the institutions wish to acquire the same materials and work with the same donors. The authors argue this project can serve as a blueprint for other repositories that wish to document community history and/or work collaboratively with a competing institution. This harvest report for the Oregon wine industry from 2014 explains how growers and winemakers experienced a nearly perfect season, resulting in exceptional quality and high yields for much of the state. Some sites were impacted by a freeze in December of 2013, however, which resulted in some vine and bud damage in select areas. The record for heat accumulation during the 2014 growing season was broken due to higher than normal overnight temperatures throughout the year.

Vintners were surprised by record rainfall one weekend in late September after a warm and dry summer. The rains, remnants from a typhoon in Japan, mostly affected the Willamette Valley, but effects were variable even within that region; southern and eastern Oregon were less affected by the storm.
