Researches On The Fruitfulness Of Some Grape Varieties Grown In Amasya, Hüseyi̇n Çeli̇k
Researches On The Fruitfulness Of Some Grape Varieties Grown In Amasya, Hüseyi̇n Çeli̇k
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
This study has been carried out to determine the bud fruitfulness (number of bunches/bud) according to their rank on the one year old cane of nine grape varieties grown in Amasya, in 1997 and 1998. For this aim, the first ten buds from base to the top of the cane were shooted under vineyard condition. It has been determined that the maximum bud fruitfulness (number of bunches/bud) differed between 2^nd and 4^th buds and the basal first bud of Antep, Asılasma, Bursa, Horozyüreği and Kızılsirke grape varieties has lower than one bunch. It was determine that the buds on 3^rd …

Determination Of Monthly Areal Rainfall Depths Using Geostatistical Techniques In The Eastern Mediterranean Region And Stochastic Modeling, Mahmut Çeti̇n, Fati̇h Topaloğlu, Kazim Tülücü
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The purpose of this study was to generate monthly areal rainfall depths in the Tarsus Plain using geostatistical techniques, and to determine the stochastic structure of areal rainfall series generated geostatistically. Data were obtained from rainfall observation stations located in the eastern Mediterranean region and the surrounding areas. Monthly spatial dependence structures of rainfall depths at the observed points were depicted using a spherical semivariogram model. The areal rainfall series was estimated using block kriging procedure. The trend, periodic and stochastic components of that series were tested statistically and modeled stochastically. Monthly areal rainfall depth-recurrence interval curves were developed for …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The aim of this study was the fertility analysis of soil and leaf samples collected from areas under ohlorotic and healty peach trees, and the determination of the periodical relationship between the soil properties and nutrition status of trees. The effects of soil moisture on the amounts of DTPA-extractable Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn in soil collected from these areas were also determined by incubation study. The plant and soil analysis conducted at two different stages of the growing season showed that the active Fe content of chlorotic peach leaves was low, and there was a significant negative relationship between …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Potassium, calcium, phosphor, manganese, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc contents were determined for seven different classes of tea produced by orthodox and Çaykur methods in 3 shooting periods of the 1995 production season. Forty-two (2x3x7) samples were used in the analysis. While the Ca, P, Cu and Zn contents of the samples were affected significantly (p>0.01) by shooting period, method and class, K and Fe contents were affected only by shooting period and class, Mn content was affected only by method and Mg content was affected only by shooting period.

Investigations On A Frost Hollow, İdri̇s Oğurlu, Mustafa Avci
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The study area, in Isparta-Pürenova, is covered by a plantation with seven-year-old Anatolian Black Pine Pinus nigra and Lebanon Cedar Cedrus libani trees. In the plantation which is subject to frost damage, there are widely failed planting patches. Since it has known that the fact that the area is a frost hole is the cause for failing with planting, in the study, effects of frost on different parts of the area and on both tree species were observed. For the purpose, several observations and measurings were carried out on transects covered failed areas as well as partly and fully successfull …

The Effect Of The Duration Of Alkali Treatment On The Solubility Of Polyoses, Mualla Balaban, Güneş Uçar
The Effect Of The Duration Of Alkali Treatment On The Solubility Of Polyoses, Mualla Balaban, Güneş Uçar
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Holocelluloses from the wood of pine and oak species growing naturally in Turkey were extracted with 5% KOH solution under specified conditions, and soluble polyoses and lignin were examined. The extractions of both pine and oak wood holocelluloses followed the mechanism of second order reaction. While the glucomannan of pine was poorly dissolvable during the extraction, xylan, the main polyose of hardwoods, was removed very efficiently upto almost 90 %. The solubility of xylane also obeyed the some kinehes. By the equation [ A ] 1- n - [ A 0 ] 1-n = ( n-1) kt, where n=2, for …

Use Of Peak Discharges In Flood Frequency Analyses, Fati̇h Topaloğlu, Ali̇ Yücel, Kazim Tülücü, Mahmut Çeti̇n
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Hydrological data such as daily, monthly, and yearly peak discharge rates, ... etc., are being used in flood frequency analyses. Because the phenomena have inherent random character, the value to be observed in the future can only be determined by probabilistical and statistical laws. This kind of data should show independent, homogeneous and random behavior so that it can be used in the simulation and frequency analyses. In this study, initial stage studies needed to be done and some simple basic statistical analysis techniques have been examined so that observed discharge data in an example river basin could be used …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In this study, some cytological characters of orchardgrass were examined naturally growing in Erzurum. Plants assessed for their chromosome number were tetraploid (2n=28). In metaphase I stage the most prevalent pairing was bivalents (avg. 8.37). This was followed by quadrivalent (avg. 2.81), univalent (avg. 0.04) and trivalent (avg. 0.015) pairings. All combinations of bivalents and quadrivalents were recorded. In most of anaphase l cells examined chromosomes distribution to poles were even (14: l4), however some cells had laggings and bridges. In addition, 95. 17% of observed tetrads had no micronucleus.

The Effect Of Interesterification Reactions On The Tocopherols And The Sterols In Fats, Azi̇z Teki̇n, Muammer Kayahan
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In this study, interesterification which has been used in developed countries for years and tried in Turkey recently, was applied to a sunflower oil and beef tallow blend (80:20). 25 sample fats were obtained by applying interestification at different temperatures and times by adding 0.3% sodium methoxide. The changes in the tocopherols and sterols of these fats were investigated. It was determined that the reaction was completed at 70°C in 45 minites and at higher temperatures and longer times using lipase hydrolysis. In conclusion tocopherols and sterols were esterified more quickly as time and temperature increased. Therefore, they were more …

The Effect Of Water Content On The Penetration Resistance Of Different Soils, And Regression Models, Cevdet Şeker
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The purposes of this study were to determine the relationships between soil water content and soil penetration resistance, and to develop regression models for comparing penetration resistance in different soils. A field study was conducted on four different soils in Entisol on the Konya plain. Significant relationships were found between soil water content and soil penetration resistance (r^2= 0.77 to 0.99). The results of regression analysis showed that the regression equation was Y=a+bX^3, in which Y was penetration resistance (kPa) and X was soil water content (%), a and b were constants changing with soil and different layers of the …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In this study, morphology of chromosomes was determined via karyotype and idiogram analysis in Nutria 7272 line of hexaploid (2n=42) triticale obtained from CIMMYT. On the bases of the presence or absence of satellites and the arm ratio, the chromosome complement was divided into four groups; satellited, median, submedian and subterminal chromosomes. Of the 42 chromosomes present in Nutria 7272 karyotype, 4 were satellited, 14 median, 18 submedian and 6 subterminal. The chromosome length and the arm ratio were 4.844 \mu (M_7) - 8.066 \mu (SM_1) and 1.091 (M_7) - 2.125 (SM_1), respectively. The satellite length of SAT_1 and SAT_2 …
