A Study Of Industrial Arts Teachers' Opinions Of Gifted And Talented Students In Black Hawk County, Iowa, James Robert Wrona
A Study Of Industrial Arts Teachers' Opinions Of Gifted And Talented Students In Black Hawk County, Iowa, James Robert Wrona
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
While the handicapped and disadvantaged have enjoyed the benefit of some unique industrial arts educational programming, relatively little has been done to provide for the special educational needs of gifted and talented students. This may be partially a result of little research completed associating the gifted and talented student with industrial arts. Additionally, legislative support for gifted and talented students has been lacking. It was not until 1978, with the passage of Public Law 95-561, that programs for gifted and talented students have been granted some funding on the federal level. Although this public law can authorize up to $35 …

The Relationship Between Teacher Sex Role Models And Career Aspirations Of High School Industrial Arts Students, Janet Lynn Robb
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Sex role stereotyping has been the focus of a number of research projects trying to determine just where stereotyping lies and ways to eliminate it. Although most of the research points toward role modeling as a major cause, little has been done to test that theory.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between teacher sex role models and the career aspirations of students enrolled in high school industrial arts courses throughout the United States. This study was limited to tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students enrolled in industrial arts programs in high schools in the United …
The Effects Of A Kinesthetic Training Program On The Acquisition Of Industrial Skills Among University Students, John V. Mockler
The Effects Of A Kinesthetic Training Program On The Acquisition Of Industrial Skills Among University Students, John V. Mockler
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Training workers for specific jobs is receiving much attention in industry. The demand for skilled workers is increasing constantly and as this happens newer and more efficient methods of training are sought In the psychomotor/sensory area. skills that appear to offer a wide amount of transferability are those dealing with fine sensitivity, manual dexterity, and coordination. Even though these skills lend themselves well to training, this area is somewhat deficient in current educational and training programs (Sjogren, 1977, p.23). Presently, on-the-job training is widely used for training workers in the actual tasks they will perform during their job.
The process …

An Innovative Instructional Unit On Manufacturing Concepts And Terminology For Junior High Industrial Arts, James K. Martin
An Innovative Instructional Unit On Manufacturing Concepts And Terminology For Junior High Industrial Arts, James K. Martin
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Although educators recognize the need for educational experiences that provide students with a basic understanding of the industrial technologies, too often students are not receiving the "hands-on" experiences related to industry. Numerous curriculum programs have been developed to provide the teacher with the necessary instructional materials and also provide students with educational-occupational guidance for the world of work. Yet, many of these programs are not being utilized by industrial arts educators.
Research has shown that most manufacturing curricula range from one to two semesters in length. In order for the teacher to wholly adopt one of these programs, considerable organizational …

Training Needs For Metal Tradesmen In Iowa, Harlan E. Giese
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
This study was undertaken to assist area schools and the State Board of Public Instruction by identifying the industrial training needs for semi-skilled and skilled metal tradesmen.
One of the problems confronting the administrators of the area community colleges, vocational schools, and high schools in Iowa is that of identifying the industrial training needs of manufacturers and business firms in the state. This need identification is necessary so that students trained in occupational curricula in the area-community colleges and vocational schools, and local high schools will find jobs available in their field of specialization when they graduate.
The area schools …
A Study Of The Work Functions Of Nigerian Industrial Technicians, Olugbenro A. Ajayi
A Study Of The Work Functions Of Nigerian Industrial Technicians, Olugbenro A. Ajayi
Masters Theses
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
A curriculum can be developed in several ways. The simplest method is to use the curriculum of another institution without modification. The hazard of such an approach lies in the possibility that the curriculum may not be a good one or, even if satisfactory for the original institution, may not fit into the conditions of the setting where it is to be used. For example, entrance requirements for institutions vary from country to country and from one institution to another.
Another method is to study a number of curriculums and develop a composite curriculum …
Characteristics Of Instrumentation Personnel In The Aerospace Manufacturing Industry Of The New York Metropolitan Area, Kennith Glenn Gordon
Characteristics Of Instrumentation Personnel In The Aerospace Manufacturing Industry Of The New York Metropolitan Area, Kennith Glenn Gordon
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
As the aerospace manufacturing industry of the New York Metropolitan Area becomes more deeply involved in industrial, scientific, and military activities, it seems reasonable to expect a corresponding growth in the knowledge and understanding of that industry by the engineering and education professions alike . The engineering profession would require an accurate description of the technical character, while the education profession would be concerned with developing a better understanding of the educational ramifications of this new industry. A study of the entire industry would have required the use of resources beyond the power of the writer. However, it was decided …

A Follow-Up Study Of Industrial Technology Graduates From Western Michigan University, Dale Donald King
Masters Theses
Chapter I
The Problem and Its Setting
During the past few years, nationally prominent industrial and educational leaders have been concerned with the present shortages of engineers and technically trained personnel. These leaders appear to be concerned with the utilization of manpower and in present and future educational patterns which will insure an ample supply of technically competent personnel.1
Staff members of Western Michigan University are also concerned with the technician. In fact, 243 students were graduated from thirteen Industrial Technology curriculums during the period of 1955 through 1959. It is believed that the school has been effective in …

A Survey Of Industrial Arts In The Public Schools Of North Dakota, Milo Norman Sulentic
A Survey Of Industrial Arts In The Public Schools Of North Dakota, Milo Norman Sulentic
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
The writer ahs been on the faculty of the State Normal and Industrial College at Ellendale, North Dakota since 1957. During this time he became concerned about the status of industrial arts in the public schools of North Dakota. Since instruction in industrial arts depends to a large extent on the facilities and equipment available for use by the individual teacher and the nature of the ship program, it would seem desirable for those colleges preparing industrial arts teachers to know the status of this subject area in the public schools of their state. Such information could be used to …
