This study investigates how sodium tungstate concentration (20–46 wt.%) and current density (40–60 A/dm²) affect the microstructure, wettability, mechanical properties, and tribological behavior of electrodeposited Ni-W coatings. Results show that increasing current density markedly raises crack density (from <100 to >400 cracks/cm²), while tungstate concentration has minimal effect. XRD confirms Ni-W solid solution formation, with higher tungsten content refining grains and increasing hardness—peaking at 900 HV at 50 A/dm² (an 80% rise from 500 HV at 40 A/dm²). However, excessive stress at 60 A/dm² leads to microcracking and hardness plateauing (~650–700 HV). Higher crack density improves wettability (contact angle ~17°), enhancing lubricant …100>

Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals
This study investigates and compares the effects of the starting microstructure on the double intercritical annealing (DIA) process on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 0.11%C-2.39%Mn-0.45%Si dual phase steel. The specimens were austenitized, followed by water quenching (WQ) or air cooling (AC), then DIA at 730°C. For the WQ method, high cooling rate results in the formation of a high strength martensitic structure. Conversely, AC method yields a moderate cooling rate, forming a bainitic structure. After single intercritical annealing (SIA), the microstructure transformed into ferrite and martensite. WQ method specimens contain high stress concentration, leading to earlier recrystallization compared to …

The illegal dumping of AD and the high cost for AD waste disposal have been problems for long time in Thailand. Therefore, the feasibility of using AD (0 wt% to 100 wt%) in the geopolymer production had been carried out to find the alternative way to resolve these problems. The alkaline solution of NaOH 7 M and Na2SiO3 with the ratio of 1:3 was used for the geopolymerization reaction. It was found that the addition of AD caused the ammonia gas …

The emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 variant XBB.1.5 has triggered a global health crisis by enhancing viral entry into cells via its spike protein. This study addresses the urgent need to develop neutralizing nanobodies (Nbs) to counteract the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Our aim was to identify a lead Nb and enhance its binding affinity to the receptor-binding motif (RBM) on the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (S-protein) using computational methods. A total of 29 Nbs were screened against the XBB.1.5 RBD using the HDOCK server to select a lead Nb. This investigation revealed that Nb_7KGK exhibited the highest binding …

This study proposes a hydrometallurgical approach to valorising industrial waste by producing SnO2 nanoparticles (NPs) from waste solder dross obtained by skimming off of tin solder baths from electronic dipping processes. The process involves leaching the dross with aqueous hydrochloric acid solution and hydrogen peroxide, followed by precipitation with ammonium hydroxide and purification with aqueous nitric acid solution. The optimised leaching conditions were determined to be 4 mol∙ L‒1 HCl, 11% v/v H2O2, 25℃, and a leaching time of 15 min. SnO2 NPs were successfully precipitated at pH 4 using 25% v/v NH4OH and purified with 1 mol∙ L‒1 HNO3. …

Most aircraft derive the design of their wings, fins, and horizontal stabilizers from this construction approach, incorporating curved surfaces to enhance the lift-to-drag ratio during flight. Over the past decade, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has become the leading tool for designing components and processes involving fluid or gas movement across industries such as aviation, automotive, and manufacturing. This study examines the aerodynamic characteristics—including pressure, density, and temperature distribution, as well as lift and drag forces—of two different angles of attack based on the M13 and Eppler 1233 airfoils. The analysis considers an airfoil with varying chord thickness while maintaining a …
