Journal of Electrochemistry

The photoelectrochemical behaviors of the TiOnanostructured porous film sensitized by cyanine dye were investigated in this paper. The results showed that the excitaed state level matched the conduction band edge of TiO2 nanoparticle. Therefore the sensitization of the dye can increase the photocurrent intensity of the TiOnanostructured electrode obviously and results in a red-shift of optical absorption from the ultra-violet region to the visible. As a result, the light-to-electricity conversion efficiency was improved evidently, the maximum value of IPCE has reached 12.1%.

Investigation Of Sodium Hypophosphite Anodic Oxidizing Behavior In The Process Of Acid Electroless Nickel Deposition, Mei-Yuan Wang, Ya-Fei Kuang, Yan Xu

Journal of Electrochemistry

The anodic oxidizing behavior of sodium hypophosphite in the process of electroless nickle deposition (pH=5.5) was investigated with the linear potential sweep method and alternating current impedance. The results indicated that, the oxidation of NaH2PO2 was a complicated electrochemical process and affected by the concentration of NaH2PO2, the temperature of the bath, the sweep rate and the existence of nickel ion. The NaH2PO2 electrooxidation reaction was very likely preceded by heterogeneous interface transformation process, which might be the control step of the whole anodic process.

Deactivation Of Nickel Oxide/Hydroxide To Electrooxidation Of H2Po2 Anions On Nickel Electrodes In Alkaline Solutions, Tai-Xiang Jiang, Hui-Huang Wu

Journal of Electrochemistry

Electrooxidation of hypophosphite anions on polycrystalline nickel in alkaline solutions has been investigated by cyclic voltammetry and open circuit potential measurements. The results are explained based on the mechanism that the first step of hypophosphite oxidation is the adsorption of hypophosphite ions on nickel, followed by the homolysis of its hydrogen bond with the formation of radicals. The oxidation of hypophosphite on nickel in alkaline medium occurs at lower potentials between ca. -0.8 V— -1.1 V (SCE) and phosphite ion is the only oxidation product. There is no indication of hypophosphite oxidation at higher potentials. Severe deactivation of the surface …

Calculation Of Corrosion Rate Of Passive Metals With Charge Curve Analysis Technique, Yuan-Sheng Zhang, Min Gong

Journal of Electrochemistry

This work contains two parts: (1) A charge curve equation having no appro-ximation for passivated metal corrosion systems is derived and compared with the routine charge curve equation, which is virtual only when the polarization is minim(linear range). (2) It is simpler to analyze charge curve data by from of charge differential equation than from charge curve equation. After the charge curve data are measured, the slope of charge curve is computed by numerical differentiation method, then the charge differential equation may be transformed to a set of linear equations using polynomial approximation. The electrochemical parameters of corrosion system would …

The Effects Of Metallic Cobalt Abbition On The Performance Of Pasted Nickel Electrodes, An-Bao Yuan, Jian-Qing Zhang, Wan-Chun Ding, Shao-An Cheng, Chu-Nan Cao

Journal of Electrochemistry

The Ni-foam pasted nickel electrodes prepared by coprecipitated Ni1-XZnX(OH)2 with and without cobalt power addition have been studied. The electrode with addition of metallic cobalt showed a higher performance both in discharge capacity and cycle life. It is known from the experiment results that the addition of Co can remarkably increase the active material utilization which is suggested to be improvement of discharge depth due to the conducting CoOOH formed in the first activation charging. The superior capacity during cycling could be attributed to the synergistic action of zinc and cobalt addition ,especially to the …

The Influential Factors On The Triboelectrochemical Behaviors Of The Passive Alloys, Dong-Bai Sun, Tao Li, Hong-Ying Yu, De-Jun Yang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The tribocorrosion process of Fe-Cr alloys with different Cr content in H2SO4 solution was investigated. The influence of applied load, friction velocity, Cr content and concentration of H2SO4 in solution on the triboelectrochemical behaviors of the alloys was analyzed. It is shown that applied load and friction velocity have singnificant influence on the tribocurrent density in passive region when friction process occurs on part of the surface of alloy. Increasing the corrosion resistance of alloys or decreasing the aggressive of the solution can reduce the alloy removal velocity.

A Study On The Cathode Protection Potential Against Pitting Corrosion, Chun-Chun Xu, You-Ping Liu, Xiao-Bo Zhang, Xu-Hui Zhao May 1999

A Study On The Cathode Protection Potential Against Pitting Corrosion, Chun-Chun Xu, You-Ping Liu, Xiao-Bo Zhang, Xu-Hui Zhao

Journal of Electrochemistry

The methods have been developed to determine the protection potential against pitting corrosion. They are based on the theory that the pitting protection potential (Ep) is actually the transition potential of the direction of current between the occluded cell and the external surface (ET). ET lasts from -220 mV to -440 mV (SCE), the lowest of which can be considered as cathode protection potential. The Ep values determined with cyclic potentiodynamic polarization method is included in the ET with above methods.

The Influence Of Heat On The Measurement Of Photocurrent At The Anodic Film Of Nickel Electrode, Hang Chen, Zhi-Yu Jiang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The influence of heat on the measurement of photocurrent for nickel electrode in 1 mol/L NaOH solution was investigated by using the photocurrent, photothermal and thermal current methods. It was found that the appearance of photocurrent in potential region of -0.75~0.20 V (vs. Hg/HgO electrode) was due to the p-type semiconductor properties of Ni(OH)2 film in which is agree with the previous report. In the Ni(OH)2/NiOOH redox potential region, the increase of temperature at the surface of working electrode during irradiation significantly promoted the electrochemical reaction strongly. The photocurrent observed in potential region 0.20~0.57 V is mainly …
