The project goal is to develop a medication and vitamin management device that will sort and dispense pre-configured amounts of pills at designated times . The main clientele of this device is the elderly community with a secondary client base of the general public. The entire system is designed from scratch, powered by US standard line voltage. The main functionalities of the device are the ability to store multiple types of pills and the ability to accurately handle user input and data transfer. The two engineering specifications that were not met included the desired pill pick up rate and dimensions …

Given the CPU database from Stanford, we wanted to create something that portrayed the data in a more visually pleasing way. The CPU database website wanted a web page that would allow users to create graphs based on the processor data from the database. The web page would allow users to select different data from the database and create the graphs they wanted to gain insight into the decades of processor data.

Software Updates To A Multiple Autonomous Quadcopter Search System (Maqss), Jared Speck, Toby Chan
Computer Engineering
A series of performance-based and feature implementation software updates to an existing multiple vehicle autonomous target search system is outlined in this paper. The search system, MAQSS, is designed to address a computational power constraint found on modern autonomous aerial platforms by separating real-time and computationally expensive tasks through delegation to multiple multirotor vehicles. A Ground Control Station (GCS) is also described as part of the MAQSS system to perform the delegation and provide a low workload user interface. Ultimately, the changes to MAQSS noted in this paper helped to improve the performance of the autonomous search mission, the accuracy …

Electronic Deer Warning System, David Zhuo, Anlang Lu
Computer Engineering
Deer-vehicle collisions (DVCs) are extremely dangerous, often injuring or even killing drivers. Unfortunately, this form of automotive accident is commonplace in the United States. According to the NHTSA, DVCs result in 200 human deaths a year.2
Despite these deadly incidents, there currently are no deployed federal or state systems for preventing DVCs. There are many consumer electronic deer deterrent products, but their long-term effectiveness is questionable.3 In fact, there does not appear to be much research into electronic deer deterrent systems. Aside from constant audio output and electric shock, no other means of electronic deterrent exist. Even if fixed deterrents …

Duck Watch: A Smart System For Public Lap Pools, Daniel Griffith, Jill Thetford
Computer Engineering
This paper presents Duck Watch, a proof of concept for a smart swimming pool. With our system, a swimmer will be able to log on to our website prior to leaving his or her house to help them decide if the conditions are favorable to go to a public lap swimming pool. Our system will inform the user of a number of environmental factors such as water temperature, exterior temperature, and humidity, as well as whether or not there are any open lanes currently.

The Sun Watch was a part of Eli Backer's portfolio in applying to Masters of Fine Art programs around the country. It is a typical-looking wristwatch that does not give the time, but the position of the sun in the sky via a row of LEDs along the edge of the device. It is programmable with a custom programming board that uses pogo-pins to make reliable contact. In using the device, it is the designer's hope that the user will become less addicted to time.

Modeling And Python Scripting In Maya For The Animation Short Style, Gilenn Emille G. Collado
Computer Engineering
The computer animation and graphics industry has dramatically improved over the years alongside the growth of technology. This paper discusses how that came about through a specific tool called Maya. It talks about its features and what it can create for you and the world. It also describes how scripting can simplify a job and make more of it. It highlights the effectiveness of the ability to manipulate code to create something amazing.

In today’s society, we are seeing incredible improvements in terms of creating smaller technological devices that behave more and more like the personal computers of yesterday. Mobile “Smart” devices, in particular, are becoming incredibly powerful not just in terms of processing power, but in the fact that they are able to provide assistance to users in their everyday lives. Application developers are now able utilize the power and size of these devices, to create and realize ideas that would have been previously viewed as impossible. This project applies the fields of digital signal processing, music, and mobile application development, to …

‘FO Fighter is a 2D real-time game for Android and iOS mobile devices. The game utilizes the motion sensors and touch screens built within these devices to give the player a great amount of control over their character’s position and firing direction. This control allows for a reactive environment set in outer space, where gravity is determined by the device’s orientation, while the player must dodge, fight and destroy multiple enemy fighters on each planet in the solar system. ‘FO Fighter has been tested throughout its development cycle on numerous devices on both the Android and iOS platforms, with testers …

The goal of this project is to make a Module that enables anyone watching a person with disabilities to record any seizure that this person has under their care. Then when the Doctor/parent receives their patient/kid they are able to download all the seizures that their patient/kid had while they were away. The Doctor/parent then has the exact time, the duration of the seizure, and the type of seizure for all the seizures that have occurred while they were away from their patient/kid. From this data it is possible that the Doctor may see some sort of patterns that enables …

Wau: Location-Based Photo-Sharing And Friend-Finding Android Application, Tam P. Nguyen
Computer Engineering
Wau (Where are u?) is a location-based photo-sharing and friend-finding Android application. The basic concept of my app is to help people avoid the hassle of having to call/text their friends in order to know where they are. The ability to simply tap on a name and visually see their location in reference to your own would be a huge convenience. Another neat feature is that it allows users to take and upload pictures wherever they are, and the only way for anyone to see the picture is to be within the same vicinity that it was taken. I imagine …

Using Mobile Cameras To Measure Dye Concentration In Bio-Chemistry Experiments, Jackie Fong, Andrew Lau, Anna Katrina Velasquez
Computer Engineering
Many cutting edge chemistry experiments for high throughput assays require measuring colored outputs from specially prepared samples. Absorbance from these samples is usually measured with a specialized piece of equipment that adds to the expense, time, and complexity of obtaining experimental results. To make these experiments more accessible, we looked at developing software to allow cell phones or consumer grade USB cameras to measure these experiments and quantify the intensity of the output.
What we have compiled thus far is research regarding several different color spaces and attempted analysis on the many channels of color spaces such as RGB, HSV, …

Smart Solar Oven, Aaron Gragg
Smart Solar Oven, Aaron Gragg
Computer Engineering
Though solar oven technology provides a green and cost effective means of cooking, it is often not adopted because it fails to meet the demands of speed and reliability that are commonplace in our society. This project explores the modification of a traditional box solar to meet these demands by allowing the oven to report temperature to a user’s phone as well as orient itself towards the sun throughout the day.
