Tomography is an imaging technique to develop a representation of the internal features of material using a penetrating wave, such as an electromagnetic wave. The calculation method used is an example of an inverse problem, which is a system where the input and the output are known but the internal parameters are not. As a critical part of the transportation network, pavements offer a safe means for vehicular traffic. Pavements are subjected to many forms of stress during their service life, and they are susceptible to environment related cracking and failures. There is extensive experimental evidence of the decrease in the shear stress at failure at increasing effective depths in concrete beams reinforced with glass fiberreinforced polymer (GFRP) bars without shear reinforcement. An important practical implication is that extrapolating strength values from typical laboratory-scaled experiments to design larger members may be misleading. The complexity of the underlying mechanics is reflected in the difficulty of using commercially available numerical tools to accurately estimate shear strength irrespective of beam size. Hampton Roads is a populated area in the United States Mid-Atlantic region that is highly affected by sea level rise (SLR). The transportation infrastructure in the region is increasingly disrupted by storm surge and even minor flooding events. The purpose of this study is to improve our understanding of SLR impacts on storm surge flooding in the region. We develop a hydrodynamic model to study the vulnerability of several critical flood-prone neighborhoods to storm surge flooding under several SLR projections. This study addresses the effectiveness of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling on project delivery. Specifically, the on-time completion of projects with and without a CPM schedule is explored. The paper uses data from 2,097 South Carolina transportation projects let after February 2008 and substantially completed by August 2015. The delay analysis uses the original contract completion date as well as the completion date adjusted by change orders. Chi-Squared tests are used to examine the relationship between CPM scheduled projects and delayed projects, and t-tests are used to compare the mean delay (in days) between CPM scheduled and unscheduled projects. Storage of spent nuclear fuel has become problematic in past decades due to delayed completion of long-term repositories for various reasons. Temporary storage containers called Dry Cask Storage Systems (DCSS) made of stainless-steel and surrounded by reinforced concrete have been in use but are exceeding their designed usage periods. Defects in canisters can be exacerbated in climates susceptible to high humidity and salinity levels. Finite element methods for the simulation of dynamic fracture in plane structures are presented. The method is a modified extended finite element method (XFEM) for dynamic fracture simulations with a new methodology to construct the XFEM basis functions for discontinuities. In contrast to conventional XFEM in which the extended interpolation is defined to only capture the discontinuities, the proposed method describes the enrichment functions so that they reproduce both the discontinuities and the polynomial bases of sufficiently high order which are critical for finite element convergence. This thesis presents an efficient numerical technique capable of handling the stress analysis of three-dimensional cracked bodies strengthened or repaired by adhesively bonded patches. The proposed technique is implemented within the framework of the coupling of the weakly singular boundary integral equation method and the standard finite element procedure. The former is applied to efficiently treat the elastic body containing cracks whereas the latter is adopted to handle both the adhesive layers and the patches. This research investigates the axial compression behavior of fire-damaged circular concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) stub columns externally confined with fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets. A total of 38 CFST specimens were tested under axial compression to investigate the load capacity, ductility, stiffness and failure mode of fire-damaged CFST columns before and after strengthening with FRP sheets. This thesis presents the numerical studies of steel hollow section columns connected to corbels under industry crane loads, and the stiffening design using steel plates to enhance the maximum loading capacity against premature local buckling failures. The influences of inelastic material properties and geometry nonlinearity on the overall load carrying capacity of the columns were considered. The inadequate shear strength of the existing old reinforced concrete columns located in the seismically active areas can lead the catastrophic shear failure. This dissertation presents poroelastodynamic fundamental solutions of transversely isotropic poroelastic materials. Analytical general solutions for transversely isotropic poroelastic media under time-harmonic loading are derived for plane strain and axisymmetric problems by applying Fourier and Hankel integral transforms respectively. The fundamental solutions for a homogeneous half-space are then explicitly obtained by solving relevant boundary value-problems based on the derived general solutions. This research presents the development of a unified framework for cold-formed steel warehouse design at variations of clear roof spans. The work involves the advanced finite element analyses of nonlinear arch-shape warehouse structures, namely one that considers 2nd-order nonlinear geometry effects-sufficiently accurate approximation of large deformation responses. An optimum design procedure of 3D arch steel warehouse structures is conducted with the help of a novel algorithm, called mixed ESO-PSO approach. งานวิจัยนี้ได้ทำการศึกษาพฤติกรรมการรับน้ำหนักคงที่ของกระจกเทมเปอร์ที่ติดตั้งด้วยตัวยึดต่อกระจกแบบเจาะรูโดยใช้ลมและน้ำในการทดสอบการบรรทุกน้ำหนักพร้อมทั้งทำการวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบผลการทดสอบที่ได้ด้วยวิธีไฟไนต์อิลิเมนต์ (Finite Element Method ,FEM) โดยใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูป SAP2000 ในการสร้างแบบจำลอง โดยในการทดสอบใช้กระจกเทมเปอร์มีความหนา 12 mm ขนาด 1200x1200 mm ที่เจาะรู 18 mmและ 38 mm อย่างละ 1 ตัวอย่างและขนาด 1200x2400 mm ที่เจาะรู 38 mm 1 ตัวอย่าง เจาะรูที่กระจก 4 จุดต่อแผ่นสำหรับติดตั้งตัวยึดต่อกระจก 2 ผลิตภัณฑ์ เพื่อทำการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการรับแรง ระยะโก่งตัว และการกระจายแรงในแผ่นกระจก โดยศึกษาเปรียบเทียบผลของผลิตภัณฑ์ตัวยึดต่อกระจกที่ต่างกัน ลักษณะการติดตั้งที่ต่างกัน ขนาดรูเจาะที่ต่างกันในตัวยึดต่อกระจกตัวเดียวกัน ขนาดกระจกที่ต่างกัน โดยรวม กระจกเทมเปอร์ ขนาด 1200x1200 mm สามารถรับแรงได้ในช่วง 16,000 Pa ถึง 19,400 Pa และมีการโก่งตัวที่ศูนย์กลางแผ่นกระจกที่ประมาณ 23 mm - 26 mm ขึ้นอยู่กับผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ใช้ และลักษณะการติดตั้งส่วน ขนาด 1200x2400 mm สามารถรับแรงได้ในช่วง 3,400 Pa ถึง 3,600 Pa และมีการโก่งตัวที่ศูนย์กลางแผ่นกระจกที่ประมาณ 93 mm - 98 mm ขึ้นอยู่กับลักษณะการติดตั้งเช่นกัน ในด้านการโก่งตัวที่กึ่งกลางกระจก มีแปรผันตามความสามารถในการรับแรงของกระจกที่เพิ่มขึ้น หรือลดลง และพบว่ากระจกมีความเค้นสูงสุดเกิดขึ้นที่บริเวณ กึ่งกลางระหว่างจุดรองรับ ในทุกกรณีทดสอบ

งานวิจัยมีจุดประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและตรวจสอบทัศนคติของผู้ใช้รถยนต์ที่ส่งผลต่อความตั้งใจในการใช้งานรถยนต์ไฟฟ้า โดยศึกษาจากกลุ่มตัวอย่างผู้ใช้รถยนต์ในกรุงเทพมหานคร ข้อมูลที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ได้มาจากแบบสอบถาม โดยความสัมพันธ์ภายในแบบจำลองมาจากทฤษฎีการยอมรับเทคโนโลยี หรือ Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) ผลการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลจากกลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 401 ตัวอย่าง พบว่าแต่ละตัวแปรในแบบจำลอง ส่งผลอย่างมีนัยสำคัญกับตัวแปรความตั้งใจที่จะใช้งานรถยนต์ไฟฟ้า ผลลัพธ์จากการวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบเชิงยืนยันของแบบจำลองพบว่า ตัวแปรสังเกตได้มีความสอดคล้องกับตัวแปรแฝงเป็นอย่างดี เมื่อพิจารณาความสัมพันธ์โครงสร้างเชิงสาเหตุพบว่า แบบจำลองสมมติฐานมีความกลมกลืนกับข้อมูลเชิงประจักษ์ นอกจากนี้ ความตั้งใจในการใช้งานรถยนต์ไฟฟ้าสามารถอธิบายได้จากตัวแปรแฝงภายใน ได้แก่ ทัศนคติที่มีต่อรถยนต์ไฟฟ้า การรับรู้ถึงความสะดวกในการใช้งาน การรับรู้ถึงประโยชน์ของรถยนต์ไฟฟ้า การยอมรับทางด้านราคา และบรรทัดฐานทางสังคม โดยความสัมพันธ์มีนัยทางสถิติที่ระดับ 0.01 และมีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์อิทธิพลเท่ากับ 0.527, 0.405, 0.403, 0.278 และ 0.259 ตามลำดับ ตัวแปรเชิงทัศนคติสามารถอธิบายความแปรปรวนของความตั้งใจในการใช้งานรถยนต์ไฟฟ้าของผู้ใช้รถยนต์ได้ร้อยละ 42 การทราบและเข้าใจถึงทัศนคติที่ส่งผลต่อความตั้งใจในการใช้งานจะช่วยให้ผู้วางแผนหรือผู้กำหนดนโยบายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับรถยนต์ไฟฟ้าทราบว่าควรจะส่งเสริมหรือควบคุมนโยบายที่เหมาะสมในกลุ่มเป้าหมาย

งานวิจัยนี้ได้เสนอวิธีการสำรวจชั้นดินด้วยวิธีการตรวจวัดคลื่นผิวดินแบบพาสซีฟแบบใหม่ใช้ชื่อว่า Power of Phase (POP) และการวิเคราะห์แบบย้อนกลับที่คำนึงถึงผลการสั่นไหวของโหมดที่สูงขึ้นของคลื่นผิวดิน การสร้างเส้นโค้งการกระจายของความเร็วคลื่นเฉือนด้วยวิธีการใหม่นี้ไม่จำเป็นต้องหารากของสมการเบสเซลจึงไม่จำเป็นต้องใช้ปริพันธ์เชิงเส้นรอบรูปวงกลมที่มีสมมติฐานว่าทุกจุดบนเส้นรอบรูปวงกลมต้องหาค่าได้ หรือในทางปฏิบัติคือ จำเป็นต้องมีจีโอโฟนเพื่อวัดการเคลื่อนที่ของผิวดินทุกจุดบนเส้นรอบรูปวงกลมเหมือนวิธีการที่ได้รับความนิยมในอดีต เช่น SPAC และ CCA เป็นต้น โดยหลักการการสร้างเส้นโค้งการกระจายด้วยวิธี POP คือการหาความสัมพันธ์ของเฟสของคลื่นผิวดินที่ได้จากการตรวจวัด จึงเป็นผลให้เส้นโค้งการกระจายที่คำนวณได้มีความซับซ้อนในการวิเคราะห์น้อยลงและมีความถูกต้องมากขึ้นในงานวิจัยนี้ผู้วิจัยยังได้พัฒนาวิธีการวิเคราะห์แบบย้อนกลับที่คำนึงถึงผลของการสั่นไหวในโหมดที่สูงขึ้นของคลื่นผิวดิน ซึ่งทำให้สามารถวิเคราะห์ชั้นดินที่ความเร็วคลื่นเฉือนไม่ได้เพิ่มขึ้นตามความลึก ทั้งนี้ผู้วิจัยได้ทำการทวนสอบกระบวนการที่ได้พัฒนาขึ้นกับสัญญาณคลื่นที่สร้างจากแบบจำลองชั้นดินตามระเบียบวิธีไฟไนต์เอลิเมนต์และผลตรวจวัดคลื่นผิวดินในสนามที่มีโครงสร้างพื้นดินแตกต่างกัน ซึ่งพบว่าวิธี POP สามารถคำนวณเส้นโค้งการกระจายได้ใกล้เคียงกับเส้นโค้งการกระจายทางทฤษฎีมากกว่าวิธี SPAC และการวิเคราะห์แบบย้อนกลับที่คำนึงโหมดการสั่นไหวของคลื่นผิวดินโหมดที่สูงขึ้นแสดงแยกแยะโครงสร้างชั้นดินได้ละเอียดกว่าการวิเคราะห์จากการสั่นไหวในโหมดพื้นฐานอย่างเดียว

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและพัฒนาคุณสมบัติด้านกำลังของแผ่นประกอบที่เป็นฉนวนโฟมโพลิสไตรีน (Expanded Polystyrene Foam Composite Structural Insulated Panels) ใช้โฟมโพลิสไตรีน (Expanded Polystyrene Foam : EPS foam) เป็นวัสดุแกนกลางประกบด้วนแผ่นซีเมนต์ (Cement Board) ทั้ง 2 ด้านแล้วนำมาทดสอบเพื่อพัฒนาคุณสมบัติด้านกำลังโดยการนำเหล็กรีดเย็นรูปตัว C (Ribbed C-Channel) เสริมที่ขอบของแผ่นประกอบที่เป็นฉนวนโฟมโพลิสไตรีนทั้ง 4 ด้าน หลังจากนั้นนำผนังประกอบที่เป็นฉนวนโฟมโพลิสไตรีนแบบมีเหล็กไปทดสอบคุณสมบัติด้านกำลัง และคุณสมบัติอื่นๆ รวมถึงการนำคุณสมบัติที่ได้ไปเปรียบเทียบกับผนังอื่นๆที่มีในท้องตลาด การทดสอบของแผ่นประกอบที่เป็นฉนวนโฟมโพลิสไตรีนประกอบด้วย กำลังรับแรงเฉือน กำลังรับแรงอัด คุณสมบัติการทนไฟ คุณสมบัติการนำความร้อน และคุณสมบัติการส่งผ่านของเสียง โดยผลของการทดสอบด้านกำลังสามารถพัฒนาคุณสมบัติด้านกำลังของแผ่นประกอบที่เป็นฉนวนโฟมโพลิสไตรีนแบบมีเหล็กได้ และจากการเปรียบเทียบคุณสมบัติของแผ่นประกอบที่เป็นฉนวนโฟมโพลิสไตรีนทำให้ทราบว่าแผ่นประกอบที่เป็นฉนวนโฟมโพลิสไตรีนมีคุณสมบัติการนำความร้อนน้อยที่สุดเมื่อเทียบกับผนังอื่นๆที่มีในท้องตลาด ซึ่งสามารถนำแผ่นประกอบที่เป็นฉนวนโฟมโพลิสไตรีนแบบมีเหล็กมาเป็นผนังทางเลือกที่มีความต้องการความเป็นฉนวนสูงได้
