Reference evapotranspiration (ETo) is an essential variable in agricultural water resources management and irrigation scheduling. An accurate and reliable forecast of ETo facilitates effective decision-making in agriculture. Although numerous studies assessed various methodologies for ETo forecasting, an in-depth multi-dimensional analysis evaluating different aspects of these methodologies is missing. They provide post-hoc explanations through identification of the most pertinent areas of an input medical image. Road network extraction from remote sensing imagery is crucial for numerous applications, ranging from autonomous navigation to urban and rural planning. A particularly challenging aspect is the detection of unpaved roads, often underrepresented in research and data. These roads display variability in texture, width, shape, and surroundings, making their detection quite complex. This dissertation presents several novel deep-learning (DL)-based approaches for classifying digitally modulated signals, one method of which involves the use of capsule networks (CAPs) together with cyclic cumulant (CC) features of the signals. It is widely reported that deep neural networks outperform most competitors for a range of applications. The state-of-the-art neural networks have built-in inductive bias of architectural choices, regularizations, optimizer types, and initialization methods. Using inductive bias is intuitive to enhance the model approximation. Deep neural networks are mostly dense and heavily overparameterized. They tend to be biased towards low-rank solutions to reduce complexity and improve generalization performance, known as implicit regularization. Levees are earthen structures constructed to mitigate flooding in low-lying areas. Although levee systems can reduce flood risks, they cannot completely eliminate them. Failures within flood control systems due to inadequate maintenance or strong water currents can lead to significant property damage and catastrophic loss of life, as was seen during Hurricane Katrina. Background

Gastrointestinal cancers exhibit a high mortality rate compared to other cancer types. Among these, pancreatic cancer ranks as the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The five-year survival rate remains alarmingly low at a mere 9%. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), another aggressive form of cancer, is rapidly becoming the primary cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States.
