Regular Algorithms Of Local-Optimal Stabilization Of Control Objects With Incomplete Information, U.F Mamirov
Regular Algorithms Of Local-Optimal Stabilization Of Control Objects With Incomplete Information, U.F Mamirov
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
The problems of constructing stable algorithms for locally optimal stabilization of controlled dynamic objects under conditions of incomplete observations and non-measurable perturbations are considered. Algorithms for the formation of locally optimal control objects on the basis of pseudo-inversion concepts of matrices are presented. For a stable pseudo-inversion of matrices, we use the Tikhonov regularization method for extremal problems with the choice of the regularization parameter by the generalized residual principle. In determining the desired solution, we use the procedure for reducing the regularized system to a set of three diagonal systems of linear algebraic equations that are solved by the …

Information Mathematical Model Of Diagnosing Of The Operational Mode Of The Tractive Electromotor, M.S Yakubov, J.S Fayzullayev
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
Information mathematical model of diagnosing of the operational mode of the tractive electromotor on the basis of the analysis of ranges of amplitude-modulated current of the stator caused by failure of its elements and nodes is made. Parameters of the optimum filter are determined by criterion of a maximum of the relation signal/noise of current of the stator on which it is possible to identify technical condition of an object. It is shown that diagnostics, processing and the analysis of results of technical condition of the tractive electromotor on the basis of the analysis of spectral components of current of …

Algorithms Of Regular Synthesis Of Adaptive Observer For Linear Stationary System, А.Х Rasulev
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
The problems of formation of algorithms for regular synthesis of an adaptive observer for a linear stationary system are considered. Regularized algorithms are provided that allow identification of the parameters and state vector of the controlled object. Retrospective and iterative computational algorithms for simplified regularization are used as a basic regular scheme. The above expressions allow us to realize a stable procedure for estimating unknown parameters and the state of a linear stationary system in the course of its normal functioning.

Oligomeric amyloid structures are crucial therapeutic targets in Alzheimer's and other amyloid diseases. However, these oligomers are too small to be resolved by standard light microscopy. We have developed a simple and versatile tool to image amyloid structures by using thioflavin T without the need for covalent labeling or immunostaining. The dynamic binding of single dye molecules generates photon bursts that are used for fluorophore localization on a nanometer scale. Thus, photobleaching cannot degrade image quality, allowing for extended observation times. Super‐resolution transient amyloid binding microscopy promises to directly image native amyloid by using standard probes and record amyloid dynamics …

Dft Study Of Water Assisted Hydrogen Dissociation On Gold Nanoparticles, Jia-Li Chen, Xia-Guang Zhang, De-Yin Wu, Zhong-Qun Tian
Journal of Electrochemistry
The gold nanoparticles (GNPs) show special activity toward hydrogen (H2) dissociation, comparing with bulk gold. Such activity is significantly affected by the existence of water. To inspect the influence of water on GNPs catalyzed H2 dissociation, we carried out density functional theory (DFT) calculations along the reaction paths for water clusters (H2O)m (m = 1, 2, 3, 7) assisted H2 dissociation on gold clusters (Aunδ, n = 3 ~ 5; δ = 0, 1). Our calculated results show that water benefits to the H2 dissociation. The dissociation mechanism varies …

Preparations And Electrochemical Performances Of Carbon Coated Silicon/Graphite Composites, Tian-Yi Gao, Zheng-Liang Gong
Journal of Electrochemistry
In this work, the carbon coated silicon (Si@C) composite materials were synthesized based on the industrial silicon powder (600 meshes) via a high energy ball milling combing with in-situ carbon coating (carbonization) method. The Si@C/graphite (Si/C) composite anode materials were prepared by a simple mechanical ball-milling approach. The effects of carbon coating and the ratio of Si to graphite on electrochemical performances of Si/graphite composite materials were investigated systematically. Compared with the nano-Si/graphite composites, the Si/C composites showed higher reversible capacity, better rate capability and cycle performance. The Si@C materials composited of amorphous carbon and crystal silicon with the primary …

Demonstration Of The Gas Assisted Gravity Drainage (Gagd) Process In Carbonate Rocks., Alok Jiteshkumar Shah
LSU Master's Theses
The Gas Assisted Gravity Drainage (GAGD) process was developed and patented by Dr. Rao at LSU in the early 2000s. The process involves the use of several existing or new vertical injection wells to inject gas and use the natural segregation of reservoir fluids from the density difference and the gravitational forces to displace the trapped oil and mobilize the oil downwards to be produced by a horizontal producing well. The GAGD process can be implemented as a secondary or tertiary oil recovery method. Several physical model experiments have been conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the GAGD process for …

This study investigates two water balance models from different levels of complexity to recognize the impacts of climate change on water resources. The main objective is to examine the capacity of future runoff calculations of a parsimonious simple water balance model compared to a more complex model under the climate change variables. The selected water balance models are the simple one-parameter Budyko-type model using the Zhang’s equation with single parameter (a) and the more complex model (HELP3) applying Soil Conservation Service (SCS) curve number method to calculate future runoff predictions. The study has a twofold focus, first on explaining the …
A Quantitative Analysis Of Shape Characteristics Of Marine Snow Particles With Interactive Visualization: Validation Of Assumptions In Coagulation Models, Palak P. Dave
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The Deepwater Horizon oil spill that started on April 20, 2010, in the Gulf of Mexico was the largest marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry. There was an unexpected and prolonged sedimentation event of oil-associated marine snow to the seafloor due to the oil spill. The sedimentation event occurred because of the coagulation process among oil associated marine particles. Marine scientists are developing models for the coagulation process of marine particles and oil, in order to estimate the amount of oil that may reach the seafloor along with marine particles. These models, used certain assumptions regarding …

Chemical Stability Investigations Of Catalyst Layer In Pemfc, Yan-Yan Gao, Ming Hou, Yong-Yi Jiang, Dong Liang, Jun Ai, Li-Min Zheng
Journal of Electrochemistry
This work was intended to study the effect of free radicals on the chemical stability of catalyst layer via ex situ accelerated stress test (AST). Fenton reagent was used as the free radical provider in this research. Apart from the decomposition of Nafion in catalyst layer, the agglomerated Pt nanoparticles and the corroded carbon support were also observed after being treated in Fenton reagent for 100 h. Firstly, the existence of fluoride (F) ions evidenced the chemical decomposation of Nafion after being attacked by trace radical species, which was supported by the intensity decrease in the C-F stretching and vibration …
Heuristics For Client Assignment And Load Balancing Problems In Online Games, Shawn Michael Farlow
Heuristics For Client Assignment And Load Balancing Problems In Online Games, Shawn Michael Farlow
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
Massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs) have been very popular over the past decade. The infrastructure necessary to support a large number of players simultaneously playing these games raises interesting problems to solve. Since the computations involved in solving those problems need to be done while the game is being played, they should not be so expensive that they cause any noticeable slowdown, as this would lead to a poor player perception of the game. Many of the problems in MMOGs are NP-Hard or NP-Complete, therefore we must develop heuristics for those problems without negatively affecting the player experience as a …

Defect Laden Metal Oxides And Oxynitrides For Sustainable Low Temperature Carbon Dioxide Conversion To Fuel Feedstocks, Debtanu Maiti
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The current energy and environmental scenario in the world demands acute attention on sustainable repurposing of waste CO2 to high value hydrocarbons that not only addresses the CO2 mitigation problem, but also provides pathways for a closed loop synthetic carbon cycle. Difference in the scales of global CO2 emissions (about 40 Gtpa, 2017) and the carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) facilities (estimated cumulative 40 Mtpa, 2018) provokes active research on this topic. Solar thermochemical (STC) and visible light photocatalysis are two of the most promising routes that have garnered attention for this purpose. While STC has the advantages of high …

A Study Of Pulse Electrodeposition On Suppressing The Formation Of Lithium Dendrite, Wen-Jun Guo, Zi-Qiong Li, Ruo-Hao Ke, Dong-Fang Niu, Heng Xu, Xin-Sheng Zhang
Journal of Electrochemistry
A pulse charge method was used to suppress the formation of lithium dendrite on the copper electrode in 0.5 mol·L-1 LiBr/propylene carbonate (PC) electrolyte. The surface variation of lithium deposition was investigated by scanning electron microscope and impedance measurement. The SEM test showed that the lithium dendrites were formed on the copper electrode during the traditional process of electrodeposition. However, the formed dendrite was suppressed by pulse charge method. The results of the impedance measurement confirmed that the pulse electrodeposition could suppress the dendrite under the optimized duty ratio (0.5). The long single pulse deposition time decreased the resistance …

Channel Camouflage And Manipulation Techniques In Wireless Networks, Song Fang
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The security of wireless networks and systems is becoming increasingly important as wireless devices are more and more ubiquitous nowadays. The wireless channel exhibits the spatial uncorrelation property, which is that the characteristics of a wireless channel become uncorrelated every half carrier wavelength over distance. This property has prompted an emerging research area that utilizes wireless channel characteristics to achieve location distinction, to detect location changes or facilitate authentication of wireless users, and to establish shared secret key between legitimate communicators. This dissertation includes two work toward the security improvement of existing wireless networks and systems. With the discovered channel …

Imaging The Three-Dimensional Orientation And Rotational Mobility Of Fluorescent Emitters Using The Tri-Spot Point Spread Function, Oumeng Zhang, Jin Lu, Tianben Ding, Matthew D. Lew
Electrical & Systems Engineering Publications and Presentations
Fluorescence photons emitted by single molecules contain rich information regarding their rotational motions, but adapting single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM) to measure their orientations and rotational mobilities with high precision remains a challenge. Inspired by dipole radiation patterns, we design and implement a Tri-spot point spread function (PSF) that simultaneously measures the three-dimensional orientation and the rotational mobility of dipole-like emitters across a large field of view. We show that the orientation measurements done using the Tri-spot PSF are sufficiently accurate to correct the anisotropy-based localization bias, from 30 nm to 7 nm, in SMLM. We further characterize the emission anisotropy …

Expediting The Consolidation Of Clayey Soils Utilizing Microwaves, Thilini Jayatissa
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Post-construction settlement has been an issue in the field of construction due to the excessive time taken for the dissipation of pore water pressure. This is significant for construction carried out on clayey soils primarily due to the low permeability of clayey soils. Therefore, attention has been directed at finding means of increasing the rate of pre-consolidation. Recent research has focused on the effects of temperature on consolidation. It has been shown that elevated temperature increases the hydraulic conductivity of pore water due to both the reduction of viscosity and differential volumetric expansion of soil and water. This results in …
Modeling Recombination In Solar Cells, Paul Chery
Modeling Recombination In Solar Cells, Paul Chery
Macalester Journal of Physics and Astronomy
Solar cells are a competitive alternative to nonrenewable energy sources such as fossil fuels. However, the efficiency of these devices is limited by photogenerated carrier recombination. We use a finite difference numerical model to study recombination phenomena in the absorber layer of solar cells including alternate recombination models and the effects of spatial distribution of recombination centers. We compare the effect of using the constant lifetime approximation for recombination to the full Shockley-Read-Hall expression in Silicon solar cells and find that the constant lifetime approximation holds for high defect densities but not for high photon flux densities. Finally, we simulate …
Progress On Luminescence Coatings For Temperature Mapping On Turbine Engines, Christopher Pilgrim
Progress On Luminescence Coatings For Temperature Mapping On Turbine Engines, Christopher Pilgrim
Thermal Barrier Coatings V
As the operating temperature of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) increase to accommodate the higher firing temperatures of new gas turbine developments, the need for accurate temperature measurements is becoming increasing critical. Furthermore, the increasingly aggressive operating conditions also limit the number of suitable temperature measurement methods.
Thermocouples are practically very challenging to implement to measure TBC temperature, therefore, are not widely used. While infrared cameras enable the measurement of temperature profiles over the surface of components, the transparency of TBCs in the infrared range lead to significant errors. The technique is also susceptible to emissivity changes, which can occur during …

Surface electrical stimulation has the potential to be a powerful and non-invasive treatment for a variety of medical conditions but currently it is difficult to obtain consistent evoked responses. A viable clinical system must be able to adapt to variations in individuals to produce repeatable results. To more fully study the effect of these variations without performing exhaustive testing on human subjects, a system of computer models was created to predict motor and sensory axon activation in the median nerve due to surface electrical stimulation at the elbow. An anatomically-based finite element model of the arm was built to accurately …
