ASEAN Journal on Science and Technology for Development

Sugar has been linked to obesity and chronic diseases. Unfortunately some "healthy products," such as flavored milk, contain high sugar. In the Philippines, such an issue is made worse by local brands not putting nutritional labels on their products. Thus, a cheap, home-based method to measure total sugars should be beneficial. In this paper, we have shown that after incubation with invertase and lactase, a glucometer can be used to measure total sugars in flavored milk on-site. All experiments except the weighing of invertase and lactose were done in a home setting for actual proof of concept. The total sugar …

The Past And The Promised Future Of Supersonic Flight, Rowan Seskin

Emerging Writers

The commercial aviation industry is extremely competitive, and constant innovation is an essential part of its success. In 1976, the Concorde raised the stakes by more than doubling the cruising speed of existing airliners. However, a handful of issues plagued the aircraft until its eventual retirement in November of 2003. Since then, no airliner has successfully taken its place, but the tides are turning. In my research, I investigated the factors that led to the Concorde's demise and examined the steps currently being taken to overcome those challenges.

The GO nanoparticles concentrations are 50,100 and 150 ppm dispersed in different diesel-WCO biodiesel blends are pure diesel fuel (B0), 20% WCO biodiesel and 76% diesel fuel (B20), and 40% WCO biodiesel and 56% diesel fuel (B40). In addition 4% toluene in all blends which used as a surfactant. The diesel engine fueled with these blends and operated at various engine loads are 2, …
