Predicting A Quarterback's Fantasy Football Point Output For Daily Fantasy Sports Using Statistical Models, Nicholas Aaron King
Predicting A Quarterback's Fantasy Football Point Output For Daily Fantasy Sports Using Statistical Models, Nicholas Aaron King
Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Theses - Archive
In the new age of daily fantasy sports (DFS), fantasy football has become an enormous revenue generator for DFS sites, such as DraftKings and FanDuel. Both companies are valued over \$1 billion. However, previous analysis done by popular DFS site Rotogrinders has shown that only the top players are consistently winning, the top 10 players much more frequently than the remaining 20,000 players. Using complex statistical models they're able to identify top athletes and value picks (based on an athlete's draft `salary') that the average player might not be aware of. There is a need to evaluate which methods and …
A Multi-Period Facility Location Model For Service Organizations Operating In A Competitive Environment., Sven W. Brose
A Multi-Period Facility Location Model For Service Organizations Operating In A Competitive Environment., Sven W. Brose
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This thesis develops a multi-period, mathematical programming location model for facilities operating in a competitive environment. The objective is to maximize the profit in a variable demand environment. The solution of the problem can either be done in a robust or in a dynamic manner. A robust solution methodology forecasts the demand for all the periods in the planning horizon and provides a robust solution that may be suboptimal for any given period, but optimal when all the periods are taken into consideration. A problem with this approach is that it requires accurate forecast of demand for multiple periods into …

The Effect Of Role Assignment And Personality Subtypes In Simulation On Critical Thinking Development, Situation Awareness, And Perceived Self-Efficacy Of Nursing Baccalaureate Students., Dustin Travis Weiler
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Previous studies have evaluated the effectiveness of high fidelity patient simulators (HFPS) on nursing training. However, a gap exists on the effects of role assignment and student personality subtypes in simulation scenarios. This thesis explored the effects of role assignment and personality on critical thinking, situation awareness, and self-efficacy in baccalaureate-level nursing students. Using researcher-developed tools and altering previously validated tools to fit the simulation scenario, the effects of role assignment and personality were determined. Role assignment and personality were found to have a significant effect on critical thinking and self-efficacy, but not situation awareness. It was determined that roles …
A Multi-Agent System For Coordinating Vessel Traffic, Teck-Hou Teng, Hoong Chuin Lau, Akshat Kumar
A Multi-Agent System For Coordinating Vessel Traffic, Teck-Hou Teng, Hoong Chuin Lau, Akshat Kumar
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Environmental, regulatory and resource constraints affects the safety and efficiency of vessels navigating in and out of the ports. Movement of vessels under such constraints must be coordinated for improving safety and efficiency. Thus, we frame the vessel coordination problem as a multi-agent path-finding (MAPF) problem. We solve this MAPF problem using a Coordinated Path-Finding (CPF) algorithm. Based on the local search paradigm, the CPF algorithm improves on the aggregated path quality of the vessels iteratively. Outputs of the CPF algorithm are the coordinated trajectories. The Vessel Coordination Module (VCM) described here is the module encapsulating our MAPF-based approach for …

Service Consistency In Vehicle Routing, Kunlei Lian
Service Consistency In Vehicle Routing, Kunlei Lian
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This thesis studies service consistency in the context of multi-period vehicle routing problems (VRP) in which customers require repeatable services over a planning horizon of multiple days. Two types of service consistency are considered, namely, driver consistency and time consistency. Driver consistency refers to using the fewest number of different drivers to perform all of the visits required by a customer over a planning horizon and time consistency refers to visiting a customer at roughly the same time on each day he/she needs service. First, the multi-objective consistent VRP is defined to explore the trade-offs between the objectives of travel …
Performance Analysis Of Organizations As Complex Systems., William C. Harrington Jr.
Performance Analysis Of Organizations As Complex Systems., William C. Harrington Jr.
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation provides a method for evaluating the difference in performance after an organization makes a change while considering the stochastic nature in which it operates. A procedure that uses simulation to estimate outcomes by adjusting controllable parameters and leaving uncontrolled parameters unadjusted is proposed. As healthcare organizations are considered as highly complex systems, a case study involving a scheduling tactic change in the mother-baby service line of a hospital is used to demonstrate application of this procedure. The goal in the case study was to reduce delays in transitioning care of mother patients from the labor and delivery unit …

Mapping And Integrating Value Creation Factors With Life-Cycle Stages For Sustainable Manufacturing, P. Bilge, S. Emec, G. Seliger, Ibrahim S. Jawahir
Institute for Sustainable Manufacturing Faculty Publications
Instead of implementing each element individually, engineers must be aware of multiple interactions among all major value creation factors and their life-cycle stages. Interactions are analyzed by a set of factors and hierarchical levels within a production system based on empirical observations and described in analytical models. Such analyses and missing information about the current condition of the system and its parts remain limited to addressing specific aspects of interactions among factors and stages for multiple decision making. To build a case-based scope addressing the interactions among a set of factors and life-cycle stages, a comprehensive approach for mapping and …
