Specification And Verification Of Generic Cell Rate Algorithms In Pvs, Huseyin Ozgungor Jul 1997

Specification And Verification Of Generic Cell Rate Algorithms In Pvs, Huseyin Ozgungor

Electrical & Computer Engineering Theses & Dissertations

Formal verification methods have been considered as a powerful complementary approach to define standards and to prove correctness of the systems. In this work, formal specification of Generic Cell Rate Algorithms are defined and proved. The specification process enables standardization for constructing Generic Cell Rate Algorithms. Standardization is an important process in the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks. By employing formal methods, the necessary standards could be constructed to allow different algorithms to be employed which still meet system requirements. Those system requirements are quantified in the Quality of Service (QOS).

Congestion management is a vital concept for networks in …

The Study Of Wave-Blocking And Current Effects On Nonlinear Interactions Of Shallow-Water Waves Using Advanced Boussinesq Models, Qin Chen Jul 1997

The Study Of Wave-Blocking And Current Effects On Nonlinear Interactions Of Shallow-Water Waves Using Advanced Boussinesq Models, Qin Chen

Civil & Environmental Engineering Theses & Dissertations

The first part of this work focuses on the derivation of enhanced Boussinesq-type equations for the combined motion of waves and currents in shallow water areas.

The strategy proposed in this work is to couple two known methods which are the sponge layer concept suitable for short waves and Sommerfeld radiation condition for currents. This coupling method provides satisfactory non-reflective boundaries for the simulation of fully coupled wave/current motion as demonstrated by the numerical experiments. We verify the model against the well known solutions based on the existing theories and good agreement has been observed. The numerical results confirm the …

Analysis Of Design Wind Speed Distribution Of Taiwan Area, Jing-Jong Jang, Jeng-Ru Lee Jun 1997

Analysis Of Design Wind Speed Distribution Of Taiwan Area, Jing-Jong Jang, Jeng-Ru Lee

Journal of Marine Science and Technology–Taiwan

This paper thoroughly examines the basic design wind speed according to wind loading of building codes in Taiwan. The first part of this study contains Chi-Square test and K-S (Kolmogorov Smirnov) test on four common wind speed probability distribution models. The data to be tested are sampled from the annual maximum 10-minute average wind speed recorded by 25 weather stations of Taiwan Central Weather Bureau during the period from 1951 to 1990. The Type I Extreme Value model is determined and recommended as the best wind speed probability distribution model for Taiwan area. This paper then explores the probability of …

On The Rigid-Ideally Plastic Deformation Of Cantilever Bean Subjected To Tip Impact, Ming-Te Liang, Bon-Jofei Lee, Sen-Shyang Yang Jun 1997

On The Rigid-Ideally Plastic Deformation Of Cantilever Bean Subjected To Tip Impact, Ming-Te Liang, Bon-Jofei Lee, Sen-Shyang Yang

Journal of Marine Science and Technology–Taiwan

This paper presents to study the resemblance and discrepancy between the rigid-plastic and elastic-plastic deformation of cantilever beams subjected to tip impact. For this, the theory of Ting's analysis [3] and calculation parameter obtained from Parkes [1] and Symonds and Fleming [4] are used for numerical computation. These results obtained from rigid-plastic deformation are compared with those results calculated by Reid and Gui [8] who used the non-linear finite-clement code ABAQUS for presenting the numerical solution of the elastic-plastic deformation of cantilever beams. No matter what rigid-plastic or elastic-plastic deformation, the kink phenomena of the plastic hinge arrest mechanism is …

Visual Inspection Of Keystone Block Wall And Embankment Slide At Mist Lake Plaza In Lexington, Kentucky, L. John Fleckenstein, David L. Allen

Kentucky Transportation Center Research Report

The Kentucky Transportation Center was requested by Bhate Engineering Corporation and A.B. Shopping Center Properties, Inc. to evaluate and monitor apparent movement in the Keystone Block retaining structure and the earth embankment located next to the Walmart Department Store at Mist Lake Plaza in Lexington, Kentucky. This report summarizes work that has been conducted to date. This work includes inspection of surface drainage, inspection of subsurface storm water drainage, inspection of the embankment, and inspection and photologging of current wall distress. At present, control monitoring points are being established (to be completed by the first of June).
