This study was done to supply information for librarians about special periodicals of the Northwest States which could be used in teaching secondary social studies. Complete bibliographic information and descriptive annotations were included for each periodical. Suggested usage of these periodicals for a unit in Washington State history was included as an example.

It is the purpose of this study (1) to investigate various examples of paintings and sculptures in which the artist claimed to have revealed himself or to have had a spiritual experience in the creation of the work; (2) to present several select statements by artists and theologians who claim revelation is the dynamic, sustaining force in all creation; (3) to correlate art and religion, emphasizing that the common thread which underlies them both is revelation.

The Ambiguity Of “Weeping” In William Blake’S Poetry, Audrey F. Lytle

There is a pattern to Blake's ambiguity. The complexity and intricacy of the images in the earlier manuscripts demand careful reading of all of Blake's works before interpretation. There are many examples, as this study attempted to show, of deliberate and effective ambiguity in the images of weeping.

Because literature teachers have little understanding of the art of film, they often consider the film to be a frill rather than an aid to learning. The author contends in this study that literature teachers must be convinced that the motion picture is an art, and that the motion picture teaches the student to appreciate and understand literature more thoroughly. The problem is to convince the literature teacher of the art and the power of the film.

Portugal has the largest empire remaining in Africa. Portugal's history there dates to the Columbian period, and its government boasts that a colonial philosophy different from the other colonial powers in Africa is at work. The Portuguese speak of a "civilizing mission," "cultural assimilation," and the "Lusitanization of its colonies. The determination of Portugal to see its policies through and the determination of Angolan nationalists to exact independence and freedom from the Portuguese warrant an investigation of the current revolution and the basis of Angolan nationalism.
