As schools have been required to provide more and more services and as more and more people have left rural areas, school consolidation has become the answer. During the 1990s, it was ruled that the state of public school funding was unconstitutional. To solve this problem the state legislature passed Act 60 of 2003. Act 60 set the minimum enrollment for a school district at 350. This has led to the consolidation of many school districts. These consolidations have been prevalent in the Arkansas Mississippi River Delta. After dropping below 350 students in 2015, the Cookville School District was ordered …

This study examined the perceptions of teacher candidates and site facilitators regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the ArPEP (formerly known as APPEL) teacher preparation program. The study also analyzed the rate for candidates who completed and passed the edTPA and also the rate for those taking and passing the Principles of Learning and Teaching Praxis (PLT). Although there are many alternate teacher preparation programs, ArPEP (APPEL) is the only program in Arkansas void of research noting the advantages or disadvantages of the program. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological research study was to explore the perspectives of Arkansas secondary school administrators regarding the use of co-teaching to deliver special education (SPED) content instruction. Individual interviews and a focus group discussion was used to collect data from nine Arkansas secondary administrators. The findings of this study suggest that Arkansas secondary administrators perceive co-teaching as a beneficial method to deliver SPED content instruction if the co-teaching pair has sufficient training and co-planning time. This study explored the perception of the effectiveness of the McKinney-Vento Act through the lens of the local school McKinney-Vento liaison. The McKinney-Vento Act is over three decades old and has been restructured many times in its 34-year lifespan. The study sample included Arkansas McKinney-Vento liaisons in the 253 local education association (LEA) in the state of Arkansas. This phenomenological study highlighted the perceptions of Arkansas teacher who have exited the profession pre-retirement. The study examined the perceptions of former educators as to the impact of both organizational and personal factors on their decision to leave the profession. The sample for this study was former educators in Arkansas who left the profession pre-retirement. Using a phenomenological approach, each selected participant was involved in an in-depth interview and the researcher transcribed, coded, and synthesized the interviews in an effort to understand the shared experiences of former educators who exit the profession pre-retirement.

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between career and technical education (CTE) participation and students’ decisions to enroll in higher education in Arkansas. This quantitative study anchored by the social cognitive career theory and self-efficacy conceptual framework examined the implications of career development theories on specific influences of CTE participation and students’ decisions to pursue higher education in Arkansas. The purpose of this study was to determine if teachers and parents feel that looping in elementary school better supports student relationships, growth, and academic achievement. The purpose of the study was to examine the job satisfaction levels of adjunct and full-time faculty at community colleges in Arkansas. The study used Herzberg’s Motivation/Hygiene theory as a framework for understanding job satisfaction and factors that lead to job satisfaction/dissatisfaction. The study also examined the difference in overall job satisfaction between adjunct faculty and full-time faculty. The findings of this study support Herzberg’s Motivation/Hygiene theory. Subsequent findings showed that adjuncts are generally more satisfied with their job than their full-time counterparts. Because the civil rights of the LGBT community have risen to the forefront in American culture since the turn of the twenty-first century, this study sought to analyze membership eligibility policies and attitudes of single-sex, Greek-letter, social fraternal organizations in regards to transgender individuals. Title IX of the United States Education Amendment of 1972 provides protection from discrimination by institutes of higher learning that receive federal financial assistance. According to the literature, this concern has grown over the past 20 years.
