Vcu And The 2021 Virginia Course Materials Survey, Jessica Kirschner

In Fall 2021, VIVA, Virginia’s Academic Library Consortium, distributed the Virginia Course Materials Survey to a selection of students at Virginia higher education institutions. The survey hoped to explore:

1. The relationship between educational equity and textbook costs, and

2. Which textbook features most benefited students’ learning experiences.

This report presents the results from this survey, focused on Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). At VCU, the survey was disseminated to a 20% random sample of students. 603 VCU responses were received (10% response rate). Studies into the relationships between learning environment perceptions, approaches to studying, and academic outcomes have largely followed cross-sectional designs. As a result, knowledge is sparse with regards to whether, or to what degree, the established associations are consistent across years of study. This study aimed to (i) examine associations between occupational therapy students’ academic performance, their approaches to studying and perceptions of the learning environment, while in their second and third years of study, and (ii) evaluate the consistency of the results across years of study. In 2023, ACER published the School Improvement Tool (SIT), the second iteration of the National School Improvement Tool (NSIT). A comprehensive review of international research was undertaken to inform the development of the SIT which consists of nine inter-related domains that describe the practices of highly effective schools and leaders. This document provides a summary of research evidence that underpins each of the nine domains of the SIT. Acknowledging interdependencies between domains, it presents a narrative of key evidence and research-based considerations for each domain. Throughout this thesis, I will be discussing some of the pressure and stresses placed upon educators in the traditional school setting in America. Under an educational system that is about rigid routine and control, I examine the ill effects that come from a lack of creativity and autonomy. My overall goal throughout the thesis is to define what joy looks like for our students and staff. I conclude with a program proposal that links the concepts of free play, movement through wandering, and mental wellness to building a better community.

แนวทางการส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มสำหรับเด็กอนุบาล : การวิเคราะห์โมเดลสมการโครงสร้างพหุระดับ, ยุทธชัย ศิลาแลง

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ดังนี้ 1) เพื่อวิเคราะห์และเปรียบเทียบการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มสำหรับเด็กอนุบาลที่มีภูมิหลังแตกต่างกัน 2) เพื่อวิเคราะห์โมเดลสมการเชิงโครงสร้างพหุระดับปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มของเด็กอนุบาลและตรวจสอบความสอดคล้องข้อมูลเชิงประจักษ์ 3) เพื่อวิเคราะห์อิทธิพลของตัวแปรในระดับห้องเรียนที่มีผลต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มสำหรับเด็กอนุบาล 4) เพื่อเสนอแนะแนวทางการส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มของเด็กอนุบาลสำหรับผู้ปกครอง ครู ผู้บริหารและศึกษานิเทศก์ ตัวอย่างประกอบด้วยนักเรียนชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 3 จำนวน 2864 คน และครูที่สอนนักเรียนระดับชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 3 จำนวน 53 คน ซึ่งเก็บข้อมูลจากโรงเรียนจำนวน 35 แห่ง สังกัดสำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษากรุงเทพมหานคร สุ่มตัวอย่างโดยใช้วิธีการแบบหลายขั้นตอน (Multi-stage Random Sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วยแบบบันทึกข้อมูลนักเรียน แบบสอบถามสำหรับครู การวิเคราะห์สถิติบรรยายด้วยโปรแกรม SPSS และการวิเคราะห์โมเดลสมการโครงสร้างพหุระดับ ด้วยโปรแกรม Mplus ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) เด็กอนุบาลที่มาจากครอบครัวที่มีภูมิหลังด้านเศรษฐานะต่างกันส่งผลต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มต่างกัน 2) โมเดลสมการเชิงโครงสร้างพหุระดับปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มของเด็กอนุบาลที่พัฒนาขึ้นมีความสอดคล้องกับข้อมูลเชิงประจักษ์ (χ2 = 258.664, p = .00, χ2/df = 2.694, CFI = 0.847, TLI = 0.751, RMSEA = .024, SRMRw= 0.242, SRMRb= 0.062) โดยระดับนักเรียนพบว่า สภาพแวดล้อมทางด้านภาษาที่บ้านมีอิทธิพลทางตรงเชิงลบและพัฒนาการของเด็กมีอิทธิพลเชิงบวกต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มของเด็กอนุบาล 3) ตัวแปรในระดับห้องเรียนที่มีผลต่อการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มสำหรับเด็กอนุบาล พบว่า การจัดสภาพแวดล้อมทางภาษาในห้องเรียน และสมรรถนะการสอนภาษาของครูมีอิทธิพลทางตรงเชิงบวกอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ตัวแปรทำนายทั้งหมดในระดับนักเรียนและระดับห้องเรียนสามารถอธิบายความแปรปรวนของการเรียนรู้ภาษาระยะแรกเริ่มสำหรับเด็กอนุบาลได้ร้อยละ 24 และ 95 ตามลำดับ 4) ผลการวิเคราะห์จากโมเดลการส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ภาษาในห้องเรียนอนุบาล นำไปสู่ข้อเสนอแนะ 3 แนวทาง ดังนี้ (1) ผู้ปกครองไม่ควรเคร่งครัดด้านวิชาการที่บ้านกับเด็กมากเกินไปแต่ควรตระหนักถึงพัฒนาการที่สมวัยของเด็ก (2) ครูควรตระหนักถึงการจัดสภาพแวดล้อมในห้องเรียนให้มีความน่าสนใจด้วยการเปิดโอกาสให้มีประสบการณ์ทางภาษาที่หลากหลาย การอ่านหนังสือกับเด็กและการมีแหล่งทรัพยากรทางภาษาในห้องเรียน สำหรับตัวครูผู้สอนควรจะมีพื้นฐานด้านการสอนภาษาสำหรับเด็กอนุบาลและครูควรมีความถนัดและรักในการสอนภาษา (3) ผู้บริหารและต้นสังกัดควรกำหนดนโยบายส่งเสริม สนับสนุน และสร้างความเข้าใจให้ผู้ปกครอง ครู ผู้บริหารและศึกษานิเทศก์เข้าใจถึงการจัดการเรียนการสอนภาษาสำหรับเด็กปฐมวัยให้ตรงกัน

The Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence, Second Edition (WASI-II; Wechsler, 2011) and the Reynolds Intellectual Assessment Scales, Second Edition (RIAS-2; Reynolds & Kamphaus, 2015) are two intelligence tests created to assess general intelligence, using four subtests reflecting two verbal and two nonverbal (perceptual reasoning) tasks. Both tests overlap to assess individuals between the ages of 6 to 90, and while the WASI-II is specified by the publisher as a screening measure, the RIAS-2 is not. Tests like the WASI-II and RIAS-2 may provide more efficient assessment of general intelligence, which can reduce assessment time and allow professionals to engage in …

This poster provides the findings from a qualitative study of four housing professionals responsible for Resident Assistant (RA) training at four institutions in the Great Lake Association of College and University Housing Officers (GLACUHO) professional association that includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. This study looked at how those four institutions assessed, evaluated, and improved the centralized training provided to RAs by the department. Key findings include the importance of the use of learning outcomes for training sessions, developing, and maintaining strong relationships with key campus partners, and the issues around prioritizing session topics and departmental needs …
