Research and Evaluation in Education, Technology, Art, and Design

This poster examines the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on computer science education in Nebraska. Data collected by Code.org on student and teacher engagement in CS education in Nebraska public and private schools helps paint a picture of the changing landscape.We reveal a significant decrease in rural student participation since the 2019-20 school year, a minimal increase in the number of teachers teaching with Code.org, and a significant drop in participation of girls at the secondary level. By uncovering these trends in engagement, we hope to inform and inspire educators and administrators to take action.

While it is true that Utah becomes more urbanized each year, it is also true that agriculture continues to play a vital part in our state. As the population of Utah and the United States continues to grow, food production is more important than ever before. Utah State University (USU) Extension has led the way for 105 years in providing non-biased, research-based technical assistance to producers and the Utah agricultural industry.

Teacher voice is missing in systemic change. This PAR study explored some of the barriers in education today that prevent teachers from using their voices and the leadership skills needed to empower teachers to use their voices in change processes. This qualitative phenomenological study examined the results of semi-structured interviews conducted with six parenting adult learners (ParentALs) enrolled in three public two-year community colleges in the United States. This study investigated the problem of a lack of understanding of the experiences of ParentALs enrolled in community colleges. A gap in the literature shows the need to find the effects of teachers’ self-efficacy, specifically with in-service science teachers. A pretest-posttest, non-equivalent control group, quasi-experimental research design was used in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 to find the effects of in-service science teachers’ self-efficacy on science achievement, using the 5E Instructional Model. To accomplish this, an extensive review of existing literature in both the field of education and the field of juvenile justice and existing frameworks and processes were reviewed to create the new framework, Milanowski’s (2023) Facility Wide – Equity Audit Framework, suitable for juvenile justice and restrictive settings. This dataset contains findings from a 2023 survey conducted by the Creative Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CASSH) affinity group within NORDP, which examined institutionally funded internal grant programs supporting CASSH faculty. With federal support for the arts and humanities declining in 2025, internal funding mechanisms have become increasingly vital. The survey, distributed to 66 CASSH members, yielded 24 responses describing 48 internal grant programs across R1 and R2/baccalaureate institutions. Key findings include median grant size, average program staff size, and tools and practices used to evaluate program impact.

Reaching Rural Students With Resources And Enrichment-Focused Learning In The Summer Months, Kathrina M. O'Connell

This promising practice describes the summer programming transformation at a rural, Title I school. After eliminating barriers to education and remediation overtones, the school now provides free transportation, meals, and books for all participants and engages them in research based, enrichment focused literacy learning. The program’s first year experienced a 746% increase in registration, 34% increase in retention, and 18% increase in attendance. Similar registration and participation numbers were reported in years two - four, with reading growth demonstrated in all four summers. This case study assesses the current, self-reported grading practices among Arkansas teachers. We distributed a Teachers’ Grading Perceptions survey in November, 2022, and we conducted semi-structured interviews with teachers and principals in January-February, 2023. We gathered both quantitative and qualitative data from the teacher survey, and we used interviews to collect themes for current grading practices in Arkansas’s schools. We generated a grading equity scale from the survey questions, verified by a reliable alpha coefficient = 0.83, and we use this in a multivariate regression to explore teacher characteristics and their likelihood of favoring grading equity practices. This study uses data analysis in the form of percentage descriptive techniques and t-tests, namely (1) tests to determine the effectiveness of the among rasa learning model for passion and (2) tests to determine the effectiveness of the among rasa learning model for inner acting. This research aims to create a digital pocket book that supports reading skills and is based on Realistic Mathematics Education. Research and development are the term for this type of study. This development study was carried out with the use of a 4-D model. A total of 30 students from SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi participated in field trials. The digital pocketbook met the validity, practicality, and effectiveness requirements, according to the findings. The purpose of this study was to determine curriculum developers in determining curriculum objectives, learning outcomes, and aspects of the design of English study programs. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. Data triangulation, observation, interviews, and documentation were used to collect data using a list of questions related to the curriculum and documentation. The result of this finding is that the English department curriculum is by the applicable standards in Indonesia. In designing the language curriculum, there is only one aspect that has not been applied as an indicator in its design, namely environmental analysis.

Today's retail architecture is developed by creating experiences, sensory experience is one of its aspects. Design students are expected to understand the concept, so this study aims to explore the sensory experience of students in a special retail space, namely art fashion retail. This research uses the qualitative photo elicitation method, participants are brought into real retail space and follow-up interviews are accompanied by photos. The findings revealed that only a small of participants paid attention to both tangible and intangible elements. So, for further assessment, it is necessary to match knowledge between education and the real world.
