Trust is the single most important factor in the legitimacy of an educational leader. Administrators can have a multitude of great characteristics from personality to organizational skills, but without trust they are not part of the daily, weekly, monthly, even yearly operations of the building. If the leader is not going to be immersed in the educational process of the building or district through positive relationships, quality communication and trustworthy actions, then do not be there.

An educational leader should strive to create an atmosphere of professionalism rooted in trust, dedication and commitment to preparing young people for an ever-changing future. This can take place by using the change-process outlined by Speck (l999). One major component is that the learning community must be an open system, include a representation of all stakeholders and be a collaborative effort. The other major component is the idea that the process is cyclical. Change is not a culminating end, but an ever-evolving process. An effective leader will facilitate this change for the benefit of all stakeholders in the learning community.

A Coordinator's Manual For The Recruitment And Training Of Volunteer, Elementary Level Tutors In Reading And Mathematics, Lara Cole

The purpose ofthis project was to develop a manual for the coordination of a volunteer, elementary level tutoring program. To accomplish this purpose a review of related literature was conducted. Additionally, related information from selected resources was obtained and analyzed.

A Crisis Management Guide For Ilalko Elementary School, Ryan Brent Foster

The current building level emergency procedmes manual for Ilalko Elementary School in the Auburn School District in the State of Washington was reviewed and critiqued. The manual contains the school's emergency preparedness policies and procedmes to be implemented in the event of a disaster. The results of the review showed a need for updating policies and practices at the building level as well as creating additional resources to guide the school should other disasters occur which were not addressed in the current manual. A handbook was also created to increase teacher response effectiveness in the event of an emergency situation.

A Model Athletic Director's Handbook For Sunnyside High School, Brian P. Hart

The purpose of this project was to develop a model athletic director's handbook of procedures/practices for use in guiding athletic program development at Sunnyside High School. To accomplish this purpose, a review of related research and literature was conducted. Additionally, related information from selected school districts was obtained and analyzed.

An Administrative Model For A Bilingual Education Program For Middle-Level Students In Taiwan, Po-Chun Hsieh

The purpose of this project was to develop an administrative model for a bilingual education program for middle-level students in Taiwan. To accomplish this purpose, a review of related literature was conducted. Additionally, selected materials were obtained adapted for use.

Helping School Administrators Involve Hispanic Parents In Their Children's Education, Ricardo Iniguez

The purpose of this project was to help school administrators more effectively involve Hispanic parents in the education of their children both at school and in the home. To accomplish this task, principals and parents from four heavily impacted Hispanic school districts were interviewed. Research was undertaken of pertinent literature and a study of parent involvement programs was also included. Based upon analysis of interviews and research a conceptual framework on how to involve Hispanic parents in the education of their children was developed along with examples of specific programs and activities.

Special Education Discipline: A Procedural Manual, Barbara Townsend

The purpose of the project is to create a systematic procedural manual for the disciplining of students protected under the mandates of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Research on the IDEA Amendments of 1997, as it pertained to the disciplining of students with disabilities was studied. A procedural manual, for administrators, and teachers was created. The manual includes case histories, which helped develop the discipline changes in IDEA Amendments of 1997. It also includes information and sample forms, which can be used to help navigate the discipline process.

Discusses service learning research, emphasizing: why institutions are interested in service learning; service learning to promote community involvement; college presidents' role in promoting service learning; creating the capacity for change; and a research agenda. Emphasizes how much can be gained from communication between higher education researchers, program managers, and campus leaders, with the scholar/president as the bridge between them.

The wonders of the information technology (IT) revolution have landed hard and fast on college campuses bringing with them a myriad of challenges for academic leaders. A group of Chief Academic Officers met to discuss the challenges of technology on their campuses. They identified three categories that have implications for organization and planning: 1) Finances and Economic Capacity, 2) Priority Setting and Assessment of Value and 3) The Role of the Faculty.

An Assessment Of The Perceived Administrative Effectiveness Of Boarding School Principals In The North American Division Of The Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Malcolm E. Hutchinson Jr.

Purpose. The purpose of this study was to examine the views held by those whose duties include the management and day-to-day operations of the secondary boarding schools within the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This refers specifically to superintendents, principals, and staff members

Method. The survey method was used to gather the data. Respondents were asked to complete an 84-item questionnaire. The population sample was made up of 320 staff members, 32 principals, and 31 superintendents. The data were analyzed using mean scores, percentile rankings, and ANOVA at an alpha of p < .05.

Problem. Small church-related colleges and universities are experiencing financial difficulties. This study assesses the institutional advancement programs at selected Seventh-day Adventist colleges and universities. The purpose of this examination was to analyze "what is" to determine the present-day process of the advancement function, and what "ought to be." These data will also suggest potential areas for growth and development.

Method . The study uses a non-experimental, descriptive design. To accomplish the purpose of the study, the literature on institutional advancement was reviewed to find a useable framework. The instrument used for this study was the one used in Willmer's …
