The American Public Art Museum: Formation Of Its Prevailing Attitudes, Marilyn Mars
The American Public Art Museum: Formation Of Its Prevailing Attitudes, Marilyn Mars
Theses and Dissertations
The history of the art museum's growth in America is presented in this thesis to place the development of the public art museum in the proper context. The museum has absorbed its sense of worth and power from the people who shaped its policy and believed in its ability to accomplish positive feats. Its growth as a force in the art world was subtle and studied, but amazingly complete. The museum which doubts its ability to persuade, convince, educate and entertain does not long survive. Examining the people and their attitudes with whom the museums had the most contact and …

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials
This NebGuide contains information on designing and installing drip irrigation systems, which can help your trees become effective windbreaks at an earlier date than non-irrigationd trees.
Windbreaks can be a valuable asset to farmers ranchers and rural residents. A properly designed tree windbreak or shelterbelt provides protection for livestock, crops and farmsteads. A windbreak can also mean significant energy savings for heating a rural residence.
Drip or trickle irrigation can help establish successful tree plantings and help them become effective windbreaks at an earlier date than non-irrigationd trees. Drip irrigating windbreaks can mean significant labor savings and less water use …

The seminar from which these papers flow was the product of many minds, multiple energies and much co-operation during the many months prior to its final implementation. The idea of a women's seminar oriented to the issues and concerns of contemporary Egyptian society was initially put forth in the fal I of 1974 to coincide with efforts that were developing on a national level in Egypt to commemorate 1975 as International Women's Year. It is with deepest gratitude that I extend special appreciation to Mrs. Marlene Michel Anawati, then a Post Master's Fellow in the Department of SociologyAnthropology and Psychology. …

Ability to read well is the most important ability that can be developed in the elementary school. Reading, properly mastered, not only renders excellent service throughout life but it greatly reduces the time and effort required to master the other school subjects. The elementary school, then, should strive to develop in each child the ability to read well. If it does this, it has succeeded in its most important work.
