The history of the art museum's growth in America is presented in this thesis to place the development of the public art museum in the proper context. The museum has absorbed its sense of worth and power from the people who shaped its policy and believed in its ability to accomplish positive feats. Its growth as a force in the art world was subtle and studied, but amazingly complete. The museum which doubts its ability to persuade, convince, educate and entertain does not long survive. This paper describes the creation and first year of development of a three-component conversational ESL and acculturation program for Soviet Jewish immigrants. The project was designed to meet the needs of a private social service agency engaged in resettlement in Long Beach, California. It consisted of reorganization and development of a newly formed volunteer tutorial project, and the creation and development of a weekly class program and a series of cross-cultural communication gatherings.

The purpose of this study was to collect, describe, and interpret source materials pertaining to the history of the three area vocational centers and the three area vocational schools in Utah. The historical method of research was used, and the collection of data was from personal interviews, research of records, and publications of the six vocational institutions, the Utah State Board of Education, and the local school districts.

The three area centers and the three area schools began as an outgrowth of the 1963 Vocational Education Act and the 1968 Vocational Amendments. These vocational institutions were established to meet the …

The purpose of this study was to construct and validate an assessment instrument which could effectively measure the impact of implementing an environmental education component to the Level III program of the elementary teacher training program at Utah State University. It was the hope of this researcher that the test would also be administered to Level III students upon completion in subsequent quarters to indicate individual competence in environmental education.

This study was devised to determine the readiness of preschool children to learn about basic concepts of nutrition. Sixty preschool children enrolled in the Utah State University Child Development Laboratory, comprised the sample. Twenty children were taught at home by parents, 20 were taught at the Laboratory, and 20 received no instruction. The curriculum was based on the concept of nutrient density and used the Index of Nutritional Quality (INQ) in developing instructional materials. INQ is an index for comparing the amount of nutrients to the amount of calories in a food. Food Profile Cards, visual representations of this information …

The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) organizations serve the business youth of today--the business leaders of tomorrow. These organizations, founded by Hamden L. forkner, have been in existence since 1942. The first FBLA chapter was chartered at Johnson City, Tennessee; and the first PBL chapter was charted at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, (now the University of Northern Iowa).1

Chapter growth has been rapid with the latest figures showing 4,587 FBLA chapters and 461 PBL chapters now in existence in 44 states and 3 territories.2
