This article presents a study on the publication patterns of male and female faculty members in the communication administration in the U.S. Male faculty published more than female faculty in multiple ways. Specifically, men were more frequently sole authors that women, and men were more often in the first and second position in cases of joint authorship. while no sex difference were found overall for frequency of co-authored articles, there were male-only than female-only co-authored publications. The investigation examined whether reading books to children about sharing would increase sharing behaviors in a classroom. Previous work completed in this area reported positive results. This study addressed the use of certain noncognitive variables and their relationship to the academic achievement and persistence rate of African-American freshmen students attending a large, predominately white institution. Academic achievement was defined as a student's cumulative college grade point average and cumulative credits earned at the end of the freshmen year of study. Persistence rate was defined as the number of freshmen who enrolled compared to the percentage of those who re-enrolled for the Fall semester of their sophomore year. School teams perform assessments to aid in the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. In this thesis, a post-hoc descriptive study looked at what diagnostic model school teams in 3 Iowa Area Education Agencies used in assessing children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Three categories were used to describe the assessment process for this study, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th Ed.) This study was designed to describe selected characteristics of certified substance abuse counselors in the state of lowa. Specifically, the following characteristics were considered: education, age, gender, length of time in profession, salary range, and if the counselor considers himself/herself recovering or not. Also, substance abuse treatment approaches, knowledge, and experiences of the substance abuse counselors were compiled. A questionnaire was designed and sent to 224 substance abuse counselors in Iowa. Sixty useable questionnaires were returned yielding a 26. 78% return rate.
