The nature of this study was three-fold: (a) histor­ical, (b) statistical, and (c) descriptive.

New Mexico is one of nine states with written cri­teria for a point system 􀀰or admission of retardates to institutions from waiting lists. The historical portion of this study presented a background of the three insti­tutions in New Mexico and the development of the point priority system upon which their admission procedures are based.

The statistical analyses were utilized to test the admission procedures of the three institutions over the past five fiscal years.

The essential base for the construction of a general theory about drug addiction and its individual and social implications, undoubtedly takes its roots from research and case studies differentiated by (1) personality types, (2) ethnic groups, (3) social class origin, (4) different types of drugs, (5) circumstances of addiction, and (6) various forms of rehabilitation.

It is a basic premise of this thesis that an environmental crisis exists in the world today and has been worsening at least since World War II. The crisis is evident in the population explosion, the deteriorating air and water quality, and the depletion of our natural resources. With the feeling that all persons must become aware, concerned, and involved with the environmental crisis if the trend is to be reversed, this study is concerned with one segment of the population – high school students.

The Development And Empirical Validation Of A Teaching Program, Arlene Chmil

The original purpose of this study was to teach college students to write psychology laboratory reports. A programmed text on how to draw a graph that would meet the publication requirements as specified by the American Psychological Association was written and tested on a small sample of psychology stidents. Results showed that the rules were not adequate discriminative stimuli for controlling behavior. It was necessary to give the students discrimination training with examples related to those rules. There was a high percent of errors on rules that pertained to the concepts of the independent and dependent variables, and the task …

The schedule is designed to provide the user with maximum ease of access to the materials contained in the collection and relieves the curriculum librarian of many of the clerical routines common to the processing of new materials. This study was designed to measure attitudinal interactions of selected vocational school teachers and students concerning grades and attendance, school policy problems, at a Technical Vocational Institute. This was done in an attempt to determine whether students and teachers viewed themselves and existing attendance and grading policy as constants or variables. It was assumed that those receiving scores indicating they considered themselves constants would be more likely to support the existing policy while those receiving scores indi­cating they considered themselves variables would be more likely to desire a policy change.

A Survey Of Qualifications And Job Activities Of Employees Responsible For Space Analysis In Public Four Year Institutions Of Higher Education, Duane Marvin Skeen

This paper presents the results of a national survey of 342 four year public institutions of higher education. The survey was conducted by questionnaire. Its purpose was to determine the administrative level, educational background, and major job responsibilities of persons performing analysis of physical facility needs in colleges and universities. The survey revealed that 115 (46. 18 percent) of 249 responding institutions had such an employee. The most frequently reported job title was Campus Planner, and Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Education were the most common undergraduate majors. Relationship Of Convergent And Divergent Teaching To Creative Performance, Robert Bruce Kibler

This study investigated the effect on test scores on the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking. Form A, resulting from convergent and divergent methods of teaching fifteen half-hour mini-lessons in social studies to fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. Results favored the Divergent Group, and their scores were more widely dispersed. Recommendations included a follow-up study, replication of the experiment with variations in the sample and treatments, and investigation of the possible utility of a two-score achievement test.

The Teacher's Contingent Use Of Praise And Privilege To Improve Classroom Study Behavior, Margaret E. Taylor

It was the purpose of this experiment to determine if the study behavior of an entire classroom and two target students could be increased by teacher implementation of a program of contingent praise and privilege for appropriate study behavior. It was proposed in this study that a regular classroom teacher receiving instructions in the concepts of reinforcement theory from a school psychologist intern, would be able to elicit significant behavioral changes in the classroom as the result of the implementation of this contingency program.
