This phenomenological study examined the perceptions and experiences of 22 traditional aged
students when their African American faculty used “accessibility cues” in the classroom. Examples
of “cues” include; encouraging students to actively participate in class, evaluate an assignment, or
share personal experiences related to the class topic. Students perceive this form of active pedagogy
as an indicator that the faculty member is willing to engage outside the formal classroom

This paper proposes and tests a conceptual model of educators’ Twitter adoption for professional learning and development based on technology adoption model and related literature. To understand the factors that may affect educators’ adoption of Twitter for professional learning and development, a questionnaire was designed and administered to 305 participants with the majority (88.5%) being 31 or older to measure the research constructs. A structural equation model was constructed to examine the relationships among factors that affect this adoption process. The present study was designed to determine the test-retest reliability of the Missouri Adaptive Behavior Inventory (MABI), a new measure of independent functioning and learning currently in development. The MABI consists of 10 subtests administered to the examinee and an informant. Fifty individuals were administered the MABI on two separate occasions; the average interval between tests was 20 days. Overall, correlations between the first and second administrations indicated good test-retest reliability.  Confidence bands for each subtest were also generated.  Finally, study limitations and implication for MABI test development are discussed.

Participants include 14 pre-service teachers who were enrolled in a Distance Education training course in Taiwan. This case study explores the use of WeChat’s recording tool as a solution to the challenges of teaching mixed-ability students in content courses offered in study abroad programs. The tool successfully reduced anxiety and boredom, created opportunities for students to engage in personalized learning tasks in real time, enabled instructors to provide individualized feedback, and helped course curriculums stay on track. Chinese characters have been an obstacle preventing the development of Chinese proficiency for learners of Chinese whose native language does not have characters. A substantial literature review identified linguistic, pedagogical, and political factors as causes of those difficulties. Tone changes represent different meanings of a word. Compound characters include the phonetic component radicals that do not always sound the same as the phonetic radicals. Psychological variables and growth mind-sets are beginning to be understood in retention research. Using the High Capacity-21 Scale (HCAP-21) and the Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI). data was collected from 327 incoming freshman consisting of two groups (Non-scholars; at-risk) and (Scholars; honor students). Groups were assessed at Time 1; beginning of semester and Time 2; end of semester. Groups were measured on Prudence, Ambition, and Approach to Learning from the HPI and traits associated with resilience being Hope, Commitment, Accountability, and Passion as measured by the HCAP-21. Despite the recognized importance of mathematical proof in secondary education, there is a limited but growing body of literature indicating how preservice secondary mathematics teachers (PSMTs) view proof and the teaching of proof. The purpose of this survey research was to investigate how PSMTs in Australia and the United States perceive of proof in the context of secondary mathematics teaching and learning. PSMTs were able to outline various mathematical and pedagogical aspects of proof, including: purposes, characteristics, reasons for teaching, and imposed constraints.
