Research Of Entiche Du Cholcolat’S Retail Market And The Implementation Of An Advertising Campaign, Marivic Perez-Robles
Whittier Scholars Program
This project looks at a local small business and how advertising played a role in its success. The student does research of the retail market and conducts surveys to gauge the consumers. From there, the student uses their findings to design and produce an advertisement campaign for the business. They say that, “the experience was valuable and I did find myself thinking through the research in search of marketing ideas.” They overall did not have success in the advertisement but instead success in the experience and value of learning from trial and error.
Company Turnaround Strategies: A Context For Marketing, James Wrynn, Timothy O'Mahony
Company Turnaround Strategies: A Context For Marketing, James Wrynn, Timothy O'Mahony
Articles
This article considers the literature on corporate turnaround. It examines the nature of decline as well as the causes and the various indicators of decline. Following this Hofer’s now well-established framework of analysis for the development of a turnaround strategy is described. This analysis falls into two stages: firstly, an assessment of current operational and strategic health of a firm and secondly, a consideration of turnaround options which may incorporate strategic and/or operational change. This model is then assessed in the context of a number of Irish firms in a turnaround situation. Important issues in turnaround strategy, such as management …

IIMB Management Review
Exponential Pvt. Ltd. (EPL) — a Bombay—based pharmaceutical company was engaged mainly in manufacturing formulations and marginally some bulk drugs. It achieved an annual turnover of about Rs. 10 crores, the result of a fast and consistent growth for eight years practically around 35% compounded annually, against the industry average of 25%. Growth was achieved partly due to the governmental policy supports for the Indian sector in this industry, but primarily because the company’s strongest product (a painkiller-cum—tranquiliser particularly effective for the smooth muscles of the body) had done exceedingly well and captured about 40% of the total analgesic market. …

Law Enforcement Marketing: Perceptions Of A Police Force, Peter Bohan
Law Enforcement Marketing: Perceptions Of A Police Force, Peter Bohan
Articles
This article examines the role and applicability of marketing in a public service organisation. It is argued that the changing external environment now facing many police agencies requires them to develop a marketing orientation if they are to continue to be effective. Obstacles to achieving this as well as the key factors that impinge on the public "image" of the police force are discussed. The authors then focus on a major study of the Dublin population's perception of its police force, the Garda Siochana, over a wide range of concerns. The research indicates that in general the Irish police force …

Are Publishers Immune From The Marketing Concept: An Empirical Investigation Of Student Textbook Retention, Judith D. Powell, Donny Layne Rich
Robins School of Business White Paper Series, 1980-2022
Textbooks have been ignored in the application of the marketing concept to higher education, despite the fact that they are an important component of the product offering. This study suggests that students feel that their textbooks are meeting their needs, but that need satisfaction does not affect textbook retention. The decision to keep or sell textbooks appears to be largely a function of the perceived value and relevance of the book and the manner in which presents material.

Common Market Competition Policy As A Strategic Planning Issue For Transnational Firms, J. Patrick Raines
Robins School of Business White Paper Series, 1980-2022
Managers in charge of international business decisions must recognize competitive conditions to make production, distribution, and marketing decisions. They must be cognizant of competitors' strategies as well as institutional arrangements which affect competition. As the international business environment has expanded, government regulations designed to control unfair or restrictive business practices have proliferated. Today, nearly all major developed countries with market economies prohibit the abuses of monopoly power and proscribe certain enterprise activities which restrain competition. Furthermore, governments have become less reluctant to apply their antitrust law extraterritorially. The ability of multinational firms to compete in international markets will increasingly depend …

Questionnaires were sent to growers, buyers, transporters and market tenants. A low response rate from growers and buyers is interpreted as indicating the changes to market hours made by the Trust in winter 1983 were largely a non issue. Failure to respond can be interpreted as a positive reaction or ambivalence to the issue. Of those responding 89 per cent of growers and 55 per cent of buyers said the changes had no effect on their business. Transporters and market tenants were divided as to whether the changes had affected them and whether they were an improvement or not. On …

Forward Contracts For Marketing Beef Cattle, D J. Barker
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
Beef producers in Western Australia have established a scheme for marketing cattle of specified quality, at a price negotiated in advance with the buyer. This eliminates the financial risk for the producer in feeding beef cattle and ensures a supply of quality beef for the meat industry and the consumer. However the contracts can only be profitable if the producer 'does his homework' properly. This article outlines the items he should consider.
