Anatomy Of The Short Squeeze: Using Technical And Statistical Analysis To Forecast Price Volatility, Gianni Demerski
Honors Projects in Finance
A short squeeze is a phenomenon in the stock market that occurs when the price of a security surges drastically higher over a short period of time. The main known cause of a short squeeze is due to short sellers aggressively covering their positions creating a short-term artificial increase in the demand for a given stock. The purpose of the present study is to determine whether the stock return volatility of a short squeeze can be forecasted using variables such as trade volume, price patterns, short interest, market capitalization, and a stock’s outstanding shares. The study attempts to determine which …

How Are Intrapreneurs Successful In Product Development? A Study Of Intrapreneurs In Established Firms, Christopher Johnson
How Are Intrapreneurs Successful In Product Development? A Study Of Intrapreneurs In Established Firms, Christopher Johnson
Dissertations
The term Intrapreneur dates to the 1980s and refers to an entrepreneurial thinking employee within an established organization who thinks across the boundaries of organization units. Due to business competition and the pace of innovation, large firms rely on intrapreneurs to lead process improvements, incremental innovations, new product development, or vertical technology development. These individuals often lead activities positioning the firm to innovate and differentiate from the business competition. Despite the need for firms to turn to the front-line intrapreneurs to reinvigorate the business, it is still unclear what separates the successful intrapreneurs from the unsuccessful. This study contributes to …

When "First, Do No Harm" Fails: A Restorative Justice Approach To Workgroup Harms In Healthcare, Pedro L. Flores
When "First, Do No Harm" Fails: A Restorative Justice Approach To Workgroup Harms In Healthcare, Pedro L. Flores
Dissertations
In healthcare, workgroup mistreatment is a pervasive problem that begins during medical education (medical and nursing school) and becomes embedded in the “hidden curriculum of professionalism,” which dissuades and even punishes learners for talking about abuse they witness. Furthermore, the mistreatment of healthcare providers (HCPs) pervades all disciplines in the healthcare delivery chain due to a combination of cultural factors, systemic pressures, dysfunctional hierarchies, and leadership’s tolerance of intimidating and disruptive behaviors. Not surprisingly, 18% of U.S. HCPs have left the medical field since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and burnout, stress, anxiety, and increased workloads have been identified …

Honors Theses
Responsible technology development, use, and communication is crucial as technological innovations scale. An increasing topic of conversation in the technology and education industries is how to educate individuals to interact with technology in an ethical way, as harmful technologies and use of technologies are creating negative impacts on individuals, businesses, and society. This research examines the extent to which responsible technology is taught in major Michigan universities.
An analysis of courses and course descriptions at 8 R1 and R2 universities shows that there is a lack of responsible technology education in business colleges, courses teaching technology development, and courses teaching …

ATU Theses and Dissertations 2021 - Present
The demands for adequate nursing workloads in public schools have increased with special needs children in Arkansas. School nurses are a necessary component of student academic achievement and physical well-being. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects that nurse-to-student ratios have on absenteeism by providing a convenience sample questionnaire to Arkansas K-12 public school superintendents. The questionnaire has examined the relationship between school nurse ratios and school absentee numbers. Nebraska Monthly Economic Indicators: April 20, 2022, Eric Thompson
Leading Economic Indicator Reports
The LEI-N rose by 0.89% during March 2022. The increase in the leading indicator, which is designed to predict economic activity six months in the future, signals continued economic growth in Nebraska through the 3rd quarter of 2022. The indicator improved for two primary reasons. First, initial claims for unemployment insurance fell during March suggesting continued strength in the Nebraska labor market. Second, respondents to the March Survey of Nebraska Business reported plans to increase sales and employment. By contrast, building permits for single-family homes fell during the month. There also was an increase in the value of the U.S. …

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has presented as a therapeutic challenge for clinicians worldwide due to its rapid spread along with evolving evidence and understanding of the disease. Internationally, recommendations to guide the management of COVID-19 have been created and updated continuously by the WHO and CDC, which have been locally adapted by different countries. Similarly, Pakistan's National Command Operation Center (NCOC), in its national COVID-19 management strategy, generated guidelines for national implementation. Keeping the guidelines updated has proved challenging globally and locally. Here, we present a summary of the process to assess the evidence, including a time-restricted …
Ethical Monetization For Social Media Companies, Leo Phillips
Ethical Monetization For Social Media Companies, Leo Phillips
Honors Theses
The most popular social media companies today all monetize primarily through the same revenue stream, advertising. Popular social media strategies have developed similar methods to increase the advertising revenue that each user generates. These strategies for monetization have become ever increasingly exploitative and harmful to the social media user population as these major companies are gripped in a technological arms race to capture as much of their user’s time and attention as possible. The effects of increased social media use are a general overall decline in our society’s physical, emotional, and social health (Haugen, 2021 & Harris, 2019). These health …

Business Financing: Bonds, Joshua Davis
Honors Theses
For my thesis, I researched information on financial bonds to contribute to a developing college textbook written by Dr. Bret Wagner called “Fundamentals of Business”. After having gathered the research, I then began writing to match the style in which Dr. Wagner had written the other chapters. Overall, this was a completely different experience for me as I have done research plenty of times before but opening my brain to a creative writing aspect and deliberating the research I had gathered into a form that would be consumed by future young adults was both exciting and difficult. I had to …
