JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 22, 2018) – Since the early 1990s, East Tennessee State University has been a leader in interprofessional education. The completion of a $13 million renovation project that transformed a historic building into a state-of-the-art education and research center will allow the institution to remain at the forefront of team-based learning and research for years to come.

Asian Immigrants In Leadership Roles In The United States: Exploration For Leader Development, Ramil L. Cabela

Cultural identity and resource availability aspects in traditional leadership development literature remain understudied, especially among minority populations like Asian immigrants.

This study explores the leadership journeys of 24 United States immigrants from China, India and the Philippines using a phenomenological approach, primarily with semi-structured interviews. Experiences of 18 additional immigrant leaders published in popular media were also analyzed.

Data from the study reveals that Asian migrants’ roads to leadership in U.S. organizations are heterogeneous and characterized by either linear or nonlinear, overlapping phases of leader development where migrant leaders overcome assimilation challenges and leverage their unique, individual human capital to …

In a former life, the site of Nebraska Innovation Campus’ newest building was a copse of trees and vendor stalls near the eastern edge of the midway of State Fair Park. A century later, the Rise Building near 21st Street and Transformation Drive is 80,000 square feet of bright and modern potential campus officials hope attract rising businesses to the up-and-coming research park. Modeled on tech company headquarters in San Francisco and Montreal, the Rise is the “first building built 100 percent on spec” at Innovation Campus, according to Dan Duncan, the campus’ executive director.

This appraisal attempts to remove subjectivity from the appraisal process and replace it with quantitative analysis of known data to generate a fair market value of the subject property. Two methods of appraisal were used, the income approach and the comparable sales approach. For the income approach, I used the average cash rent for the region, the current property taxes for the subject property, and a capitalization rate based on Stokes' (2018) capitalization rate formula to arrive at my income-based valuation. Quality Management (QM) in one of its many forms has become an integral part of contemporary business. Most research in this field was conducted within the context of large business. This study is one of the first to examine QM for small to medium enterprises (SMEs). This article used the action research methodology to explore how a SME located in the southeastern United States implemented a climate of quality. QM implementation in this company was executed in two separate interventions. In this dissertation, I present three studies that independently contribute to the literature on credit securities from an information perspective. In the first chapter, I examine the informational role of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to the corporate bond market. Considering the dramatic growth of ETFs and the fact that they trade on exchanges, I posit that ETFs provide information to market participants about the underlying market, but not all information provided may be relevant. Indeed, I show that higher levels of ETF ownership of bonds are associated with lower transactions costs, higher liquidity, but also contain less firm-specific information.
