Voluntary Disclosure With Multiple Channels And Investor Sophistication, Richard M. Crowley

Research Collection School Of Accountancy

An analytical model of voluntary disclosure in which a manager can disclose through two channels with different ease of processing, and with two types of investors. The model shows that in the presence of a second channel, managers have an incentive to decrease disclosures that will be quickly processed by unsophisticated investors and to increase the disclosures that will be quickly processed by sophisticated investors. The model has implications for post Reg-FD market efficiency, as well as the efficiency of firms having multiple disclosure venues.

Different geographic regions in the United States have experienced varying degrees of entrepreneurial activity that give rise, maturity and in many cases declines in regional industry vertical strengths. We investigated the medical device industry in Minnesota to explain how entrepreneurial or new venture communities emerge, operate and perform. Absorptive capacity, social network theory, agent-network theory and technology diffusion are clearly evident phenomena observed. We used a qualitative, grounded theory methodology to interview 20 experts with knowledge of the ecosystem studied. Consumer and business confidence declined in Nebraska during December 2017. The Consumer Confidence Index – Nebraska (CCI-N) fell to 93.3 in December, well below the neutral level of 100.0. The index had reached a record level of 106.2 in November, but that high level of confidence was not sustained. The Business Confidence Index – Nebraska (BCI-N) fell from 114.1 in November to 107.5 in December. While lower, the December reading remains well above the neutral value of 100.0. Interviewing clients about their strengths is an important part of developing a complete understanding of their lives and has several advantages over simply focusing on problems and pathology. Prerequisites for skillfully interviewing for strengths include the communication skills that emerge from a stance of not knowing, developing a vocabulary of strengths that allows practitioners to identify and name them, and having a “ear for strengths.” Building on this, Saleebey (2008) offers a framework of eight types of questions that allow us to explore strengths in depth with clients.

This study aims to analyze the effect of workplace spirituality on auditor dysfunctional behavior and its implication to audit quality at The Audit Board of The Republic of Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the development of Indonesia environmental performance and environmental compliance from the period 2011-2015 through the PROPER program. Statistic descriptive, along with trend analysis, was applied in this study. The result indicates that achievement of the environmental performance of the PROPER program is on adequate level (63,2%), Poor level (25,9%), good level (7,5%), very poor (2.8%) and excellent level (0.6%). Meanwhile, Indonesia environmental compliance level on average is 72%. Based on a longitudinal national survey, this study examines the adoption of electronic medical records (EMR) by clinics in the USA between 2004 and 2014. A trend analysis suggests that government incentive, technological breakthrough and patient-centered care push the diffusion forward. The interaction among policy, technology and practice is likely to affect the decision-making of practitioners regarding EMR adoption. This study identifies clinic-, patient- and visit-related variables from the survey, and uses them to predict EMR adoption intention and usage in each year. This survey research examined social networking sites (SNS) internal to the company to determine how SNS use affects attitudes, and ultimately turnover intentions. We hypothesize that due to social capital, emotional dissonance, and conservation of resource theories, work SNS use will decrease work isolation, which will decrease work-related attitudes and increase turnover intentions. Due to social capital theory, we propose that work SNS use will decrease work isolation. Due to emotional dissonance theory, we hypothesize that work isolation will decrease positive emotions and job satisfaction, and increase job tensions, such as work stress. On the first day of class most management faculty review or “go over” the syllabus, typically through an instructor-led presentation. However, research indicates that students retain little, if any, of the syllabus material, leading to frustrating outcomes for both students and instructors. Here we report the results of a post hoc natural experiment, where we compared the effectiveness of the traditional, review-and-discuss method to the effectiveness of a mind map approach used in another undergraduate management course. A multi-theory framework is offered for guiding managerial decision making in complex professional human service organizations; a growing segment of the economy for which the ability to proactively and dynamically manage knowledge assets is naturally critical to performance. Following a call for greater theoretical integration, this framework synthesizes essential and complimentary elements of three theoretical domains. Adopting a dyadic approach, we examine the processes through which leader–member exchange (LMX) mediates the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and work outcomes. Fitting the data from a survey of 204 unique pairs of leaders and followers to an actor–partner independence model (APIM), we found that follower EI positively affects LMX as perceived by both dyad members, whereas leader EI is positively related to only leader ratings of LMX. Using polynomial regression, we also found that EI similarity between the leader and follower has a positive relationship with both leader and follower ratings of LMX.
