Automatic Recognition Of Marine Traffic Flow Regions Based On Kernel Density Estimation, Wei-Feng Li, Bin Mei, Guo-You Shi
Journal of Marine Science and Technology–Taiwan
The automatic recognition of traffic flow regions can provide decision support for ships’ automatic route design and route planning. This study analyzes the characteristics of ships’ trajectory structures and builds a course and distance model. Pearson correlation coefficients are used for measuring the similarities of the models and clustering trajectories, and kernel density estimation is used for estimating the probability density of clustered trajectories. An automatic recognition algorithm for traffic flow regions is proposed. This study examines ships’ automatic identification system data in Laotieshan channel, China. In recent years, the cosmetic industry has experienced an increase in litigation brought on by consumers in their efforts to protect themselves from cosmetics that are either unsafe or falsely advertised. The Supreme Court of the United States’ discussion in POM Wonderful v. Coca-Cola Co. of the Lanham Act, the United States’ principal false advertising statute, clarified the breadth and depth of allowable lawsuits brought under the statute in matters which also concern the Food, Drug, & Cosmetic Act (FDCA). The paper examines three potential safety solutions for the protection of port workers, which are based on a junction of Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID), as an automatic identification, data collecting and positioning system from one side, and ZigBee, as a low energy consumption communication technology from another. The considered solutions are placed in the context of the individual needs and capacities of the developing Port of Bar in Montenegro (South East Europe), which has been operating in the transitional environment for the past two decades. This study developed and evaluated an integrated inventory model incorporating production programs and maintenance to model an imperfect process of a deteriorating production system in firm’s activities of inbound logistics and production. Two preventive maintenance activities are performed during each production run period: perfect preventive maintenance and imperfect preventive maintenance. The perfect preventive maintenance’s probability depends on the number of imperfect maintenance operations performed resulting from the last renewal cycle. Communicating complex ideas to diverse stakeholders is central to reliable decision making. Stakeholders may vary greatly in their interest, familiarity, or expertise with data regarding a policy, program, or practice. Well-designed data visualizations provide a platform for engaging stakeholders in ways that are tailored to their interest, familiarity, and expertise. However, research indicates that visualizations are not always designed effectively to reliably motivate users to understand and ultimately use the data in their decision-making (Evergreen, 2011; Cawthon & Moere, 2007). Fiscal Policy, Consumption Risk, And Stock Returns: Evidence From Us States, Zhi Da, Mitch Warachka, Hayong Yun
Business Faculty Articles and Research
We find that consumption risk is lower in states that implement countercyclical fiscal policies. Moreover, firms with an investor base that is concentrated in countercyclical states have lower stock returns, along with firms that relocate their headquarters to a countercyclical state. Therefore, countercyclical fiscal policies lower the consumption risk of investors and, consequently, their required equity return premium. This conclusion is confirmed by smaller declines in market participation during recessions in countercyclical states. Overall, the location of a firm’s investor base enables state-level fiscal policy to influence stock returns.
