The present research aims to examine the relationship between features of the Human resource information system (hereinafter HRIS) and gaining the competitive advantage (hereinafter CA). The research adds new insight to the current HRIS/CA literature through emphasizing how HRIS characteristics help gaining CA. For achieving the research purpose, data was collected about HRIS features and the gained CA using structured questionnaire that is conducted with (110) HR professionals, (21) IT technicians and (124) sales managers working in the Egyptian Company for mobile service. Although the prevalence of Executive Doctoral Programs (EDPs) is increasing, little is known about their influence on management practice. To support further research and debate into this important area, this essay presents a dynamic model of EDP impact and discusses how the model can help reorient current knowledge on practitioner–scholar behaviors and careers. The model identifies six dimensions of EDPs’ personal impact: 1) cognitive development, 2) academic contribution, 3) practical impact, 4) career mobility, 5) identity transformation, and 6) community belonging. Abstract

Participant observation is an appropriate research method for engaged practitioner-scholars seeking in-depth insights available from qualitative field research. Conventional approaches to participant observation include ethnography and action research. However, conventional approaches were originally developed with the assumption that the roles of practitioner and scholar are separate. We propose a new approach, engaged participant observation, which recognizes the integration of research and practice roles. Employment research has asked diverse questions about job satisfaction, gender appropriate work, wage and compensation satisfaction and parity, and advancement. Most existing research has explored gender discrimination in traditional professions such as engineering, law, education, and medicine; notably absent is the billion dollar industry of sport. This research sought to remedy that shortcoming by exploring attitudes towards wage equality across gender for eight different professions, including coaching positions and that of a professional athlete. Survey results found that most respondents were in favor of wage equality across all professions, but the sport professions showed the greatest amount of variation. Differences …

The aim of this study is to examine the labour market performance of Brazilian students who have acquired international qualifications in the areas of engineering and science. A comprehensive analysis of the literature review demonstrates the importance of international qualifications covering both their benefits and challenges. The gaps found in the literature review are also discussed, as well as the need for a more concrete theoretical framework about the subject. We examine the corporate governance roles of information quality and the takeover market with asymmetric information regarding the value of the target firm. Increasing information quality improves the takeover efficiency however, a highly efficient takeover market also discourages the manager from exerting effort. We find that perfect information quality is not optimal for either current shareholders’ expected payoff maximization or expected firm value maximization. Furthermore, current shareholders prefer a lower level of information quality than the level that maximizes expected firm value, because of a misalignment between current shareholders’ value and total firm value. This case focuses on the factors that lead to the failure of new products in the marketplace. It discusses the case of Capri facewash in the beauty and personal care category in Pakistan. Capri was unable to sustain its facewash in the market mainly because of a disorganized and unsystematic marketing plan. This study examined the relationship between a non-Power Five Cinderella team in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament and institutional financial and admissions factors. The purpose of this study was to examine what, if anything, changes for a non-Power Five school who makes the March Madness tournament as compared to those similar schools who do not. Recently, Gatton’s chapter of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association and the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy, led by Dr. Kelly Covert, assistant professor of pharmacy practice, sought to raise awareness about organ donation through the 2017-18 American Society of Transplantation’s Organ Donation Challenge.
