Delays in obtaining development approvals have been advanced as a major reason for shortages if not also increase in cost of housing. This paper is the first systematic attempt to examine whether the apparently long period of time taken to obtaining statutory planning permissions by developers for major development projects under Comprehensive Development Area (CDA) zoning is due to Town Planning Board rejections or developers’ strategy to hoard land or improve building design. The motivation for this dissertation is rooted in a real business need. The Property Registration Authority is the state organisation tasked with maintaining a register of land ownership on the island of Ireland. The PRA currently faces a series of challenges; a high level of staff retiring and the inherent loss of knowledge associated with this trend, a lack of recruitment in recent years and a large increase in lodgement of applications for first registration as a result of legislation. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, resorts started popping up among Otter Tail County’s wooded hills and 1,048 crystal clear lakes. Those early resorts are responsible for much of the County’s early infrastructure and economic development. Today, tourism and hospitality remain Otter Tail County’s second largest industry. However, resorts are disappearing. Since 1985, over 50% of Otter Tail County’s resorts have closed. Given the cultural and economic significance of resorts in Otter Tail County, it is important to better understand the implications of their decline. Rural Nebraskans continue to feel positive about their current situation. Just over one-half (52%) of rural Nebraskans believe they are better off than they were five years ago (holding steady from 53% last year, the highest proportion in all 21 years of this study, tied in 2008). And, rural Nebraskans’ outlook on their future continues to be optimistic. Almost one-half of rural Nebraskans (46%) believe they will be better off ten years from now. In addition, most rural Nebraskans disagree that people are powerless to control their own lives. This year, 55 percent strongly disagree or disagree with that statement. …

Soil erosion is a constant challenge to farm productivity and profitability. However, extending the effect to food expenditure and children’s nutrition is yet to be explored. In this research, an attempt was made to establish the path linking soil erosion to children’s calorie intake levels. Using the geo-coordinates of Mindanao soil erosion areas from the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR), Geographic Information System (GIS) was used to identify the research sites for corn producing households in Davao region. The main aim of this paper is to institute a set of regulatory policies drawing upon the practices and experiences of other countries and in light of the local context to improve the recruitment of the domestic worker sectors. The goal of these policies will be to make the recruitment process more transparent and ethical in order to protect the rights and ensure welfare of the domestic workers as well as the employers. The paper will highlight the mechanism of improving the recruitment agencies sector and facilitate an amicable and productive relationship between employers and employees.

By establishing a central licensing authority (CLA) in the UAE that is managed by reputable placement agencies in the UAE and overseen by a government entity (including but not limited to MoHRE) can largely resolve many issues involved in the recruitment process, while imposing minimum administrative costs. The CLA has two key responsibilities, the first of which is to reform the recruitment process through Models 1-3, and the second is to create a clearing house for jobseekers and employers.

Global Private-Label Convergence: Fact Or Fiction?, Katrijn Gielens, Marnik Dekimpe, Anirban Mukherjee, Kapil R. Tuli

This study considers a set of 67 countries to study whether PLs sharesconverge globally and if so to what long-run level PL shares in 60 product categoriesare expected to converge. The authors draw upon the economic convergenceliterature to establish an empirical specification that measures long-run PL sharedifferentials relative to a stabilized reference country. As such, they use the notionof β-convergence, taking place when countries with an initially lower PL level growfaster than countries already closer to a common steady state.

This process has been deemed by the Deans of the Enterprise Schools at Clark University as one that needs further investigation. Over the past 50 years, cooperative forms of governance such as equity joint ventures and other strategic alliances have received tremendous attention in international business and management research. This article traces the history of this research over these past five decades with particular emphasis on the critical role that (Columbia) Journal of World Business has played in disseminating scholarly and managerial expertise on the successful management of cross-border, inter-firm collaboration. We highlight the evolution of interest in different contexts, phenomena, theories, and methodologies, along with the factors that have driven interest in these topics. PurposeThe purpose of this study is to identify the factors that impact the exchange-traded funds net fund flow changes on a daily basis.Design/methodology/approachA total of 1,212 different exchange-traded funds with a proprietary daily net fund flow data and logistic regressions were studied because the majority of the 1,212 exchange-traded funds have mostly zero daily net fund flow changes.FindingsIt was documented that in the period December 22, 2005 to July 28, 2010 autocorrelation at the daily frequency is not universally present for the 1,212 exchange-traded funds that we study, despite the fact that this is the case in the monthly data …

The Leading Economic Indicator – Nebraska (LEI-N) rose by 0.11% in January 2016. The increase in the LEI-N, which predicts economic growth in the state six months in the future, suggests that economic growth will be modest in Nebraska during the summer of 2016. Four of the six components of the LEI-N improved during January. Business expectations, in particular, were strong during the month. Respondents to the January Survey of Nebraska Business predicted strong growth in both sales and employment over the next 6 months. Initial claims for unemployment insurance also fell during January, on a seasonally adjusted basis. Further, …

The Leading Economic Indicator – Nebraska (LEI-N) fell by 0.28% in May 2016. The decline in the LEI-N, which predicts economic growth in the state six months in the future, followed rapid increases during both March and April. Taken together, results suggest that economic growth will be strong in Nebraska during the summer and fall of 2016 before moderating late in the year. Four of the six components of the LEI-N declined during May. There was a decline in manufacturing hours during the month and a slight decline in airline passenger counts. The Impact Of Authentic, Ethical, Transformational Leadership On Leader Effectiveness, Mary Kay Copeland

Authentic, ethical and transformational leadership in 21st century business leaders is needed. This research posits that ethical, authentic and transformational leaders are more effective, that there are incremental improvements in a leader’s effectiveness for each of these leadership qualities, and that transformational leadership moderates the impact of the leader’s authentic and ethical leadership on the leader’s outcomes. Analysis shows that authentic, ethical and transformational leadership behaviors make incremental independent contributions to explain leader effectiveness. The study did not find support for transformational leadership as a moderator of the relationships between authentic and ethical leadership behaviors and a leader’s effectiveness.

Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) use in healthcare facilities was examined for utilization and efficacy, although the advantages are abundant, healthcare facilities have been reluctant to adopt it due to associated costs. The purpose of this study was to analyze the feasibility of a U.S NHIN by exploring and determining the benefits of and assessing the barriers to its implementation. The results of this study suggest that implementation and utilization of NHIN by healthcare industry stakeholders leads to an increased quality of patient care, increased patient-provider communication, and cost savings opportunities. This study examines the impact of emotional intelligence, academic self-efficacy in science and technology, and family background on academic achievement of alternative high school students. Gender, age, learning style, and ethnicity of the student are analyzed to determine any moderator effect on these relationships. Seventy-five students, ages 14 to19, who attend a public alternative high school were surveyed. Analysis of the data revealed a positive relationship for males between self-efficacy in STEM classes and family background (support) and their academic achievement in science class.
