A Fuzzy Algorithm To Evaluate Competitive Locations For International Transport Logistics System, Shu-Chen Lin

This paper evaluates competition location decisions in a fuzzy environment and assesses international transport logistics service systems using a fuzzy model. First, the study introduces the concepts of fuzzy set theory. Second, a stepby-step fuzzy algorithm, including ten systematic procedures, is effectively represented and processed to assure convincing and effective decision making. Third, three major competitive locations in the Pacific Asia region are presented as examples to analyze the rank order and competitive scenario of international transport logistics service systems. In the keen competitive port market, service effectiveness has become a key to customer satisfaction and loyalty for port operators in future business endevors. The main purpose of this article was to apply the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) model to evaluate key factors influencing service effectiveness for Keelung Port in Taiwan. Based on the port literature and experts’ opinions, a hierarchical structure with 5 assessment aspects and 15 assessment criteria was first constructed. A fuzzy AHP model was then proposed. Kinmen is suited as an important tactical location for Taiwan, despite being a small island with scarce resources. A number of soldiers defend Kinmen for essential military reasons. Therefore, logistics in Kinmen are very important, especially with regard to the military. Generally, necessary goods and materials for Kinmen are transported from Taiwan by ship or air. However, inclement weather in Kinmen often causes delays and difficulties in transportation. This is a serious problem for Kinmen military logistics. You’Ve Got Mail: Examination Of A Brief Online Email Training, Jake R. Mathwich, Keaton A. Fletcher, Wendy L. Bedwell
Human Factors and Applied Psychology Student Conference
Many companies train employees on writing emails in seminar-style training sessions. However, in-person, seminar-style trainings are costly. This study aims to create a training program, rooted in the science of training to address these needs. We examine the mechanisms of action by which the training influences performance and intent to transfer. To do this, we call upon several models of training effectiveness (see Alliger, Tannenbaum, Bennett, & Traver, 1997; Baldwin & Ford, 1988; and Kirkpatrick, 1959). Taken together, these models suggest that individual differences will predict affective reactions, which will lead to utility reactions, ultimately leading to learning. We aim …

Asset allocation is the biggest driver of portfolio performance, particularly over the long-term. Moreover, it also is reflective of an investor's risk tolerance. The recent financial crisis has negatively impacted investment psychology, particularly among younger investors. As a result, the so-called "Generation-Y" has over half of their assets held in cash -- a "non-earning" asset. While this is safe, there is a risk of loss in value, as cash does not even hold up with inflation. In the long-term, such an allocation means a lower retirement balance--i.e., shortfall risk. Thus, these investors have essentially traded one type of risk for …

This study investigates the effectiveness of an automatic system for detection of deception by individuals with the use of multiple indicators of such potential deception. Deception detection research in the information systems discipline has postulated increased accuracy through a new class of screening systems that automatically conduct interviews and track multiple indicators of deception simultaneously. Understanding the robustness of this new class of systems and the limitations of its theoretical improved performance is important for refinement of the conceptual design. The growth in the manufacture and distribution of electronic devices presents a source of continuing innovation. Electronic devices are products that integrate physical forms (i.e. hardware) and virtual forms (e.g. software) to deliver value to customers. These forms are very different from a product design and supply chain perspective, but nevertheless they need to work closely together in order to create value for the customers. Many schools have adopted programs that allow for this type of learning, including The Carl and Winifred Lee Honors College at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This foundation is especially important in not-for-profit entities because government grants and contributions often compose significant portions of overall revenues and receipts. An overview of non-profit standards and the government system of distributing funds provides insight into non-profits as a whole and enables the study of specific organizations. Members of the Millennial Generation have higher rates of turnover compared to other generations. This can represent significant costs to organizations, and therefore is important to minimize. Job satisfaction has been shown to increase motivation and productivity as well as decrease turnover, and can be maximized by adjusting economic factors, fostering interpersonal relationships, and adjusting activities, tasks, and work conditions to the personality of the worker. All three types of organizational commitment (affective, normative, and continuance) also decrease turnover rates. Both job satisfaction and organizational commitment depend on a worker’s personality, needs, and expectations, which are influenced by the generation …
