Economic theory suggests that Structural transformation usually takes place when resources are reallocated from low productivity agriculture to high productivity industry and services sectors. Cities and urban areas are the magnets for location of these sectors which benefit from migration of the surplus and underemployed labour. Rapid economic growth is therefore associated with urbanization. The pace of urbanization is, in turn, accelerated with a larger response of migration. Empirical evidence shows that no country has grown to middle income status without industrializing and urbanizing. None has grown to high income without vibrant cities. In today’s media environment, crises are magnified as media events and are rich sites for theinception ofimages. Particular images, like a photograph or a sound bite are found to endureas representations of defining moments of crises. This study seeks to examine the concept ofan enduring image, how it is engendered and how it impacts crisis communication efforts.The study utilizes five case studies of crisis with an inherent enduring image. An enduringimage constitutes a prime representation of the accused in a given crisis. Multi-Task Setting Involving Simple And Complex Tasks: An Exploratory Study Of Employee Motivation, Maia Jivkova Farkas

In this study, employees are given autonomy in effort allocation across two tasks - complex and simple tasks, where the return to the organization is significantly higher for the complex task requiring high skill than for the simple task requiring low skill. An unavoidable feature of multi-task settings is that effort expended on one task detracts from effort that can be expended on another task. This effort trade-off among tasks becomes problematic when the returns from different tasks are unequal, with important consequences for a firm's overall performance. The Center for American Progress recently released a report titled, “The State of Women in America: A 50-State Analysis of How Women Are Faring Across the Nation.” This September 2013 document ranked Utah last in terms of women being in positions of decision making and leadership. The focus was on both the percentage of women in elected office (state and national levels) and also women holding private sector management positions, but it did not provide the depth needed to fully understand the issue. Interest rates have remained at historically low levels since 2008; however, with the recovering economy and the prospect of the Fed reducing its intervention, it is likely that interest rates will rise. Such a move will reduce bond prices, particularly longer-term bonds, so what asset classes should investors consider? A recent Wall Street Journal article suggests that certain equity sectors (e.g., energy, financials, and consumer discretionary) tend to perform well (at least relatively) in such environments. In the outskirts of Medellin, Colombia, impoverished rural schoolchildren have cause for hope. The Colombian Coffee Growers’ Association wants to hire them. Why? Because these children have developed the independent thinking, communication, and work skills that will make them an asset to the industry. They developed these skills in their multigrade primary schools, where children do most of their learning in competence-based groups, while the teacher functions as guide and coach.

Small business is the backbone of the U.S. economy; when the financial literacy skills of entrepreneurs fall short of those needed to operate a successful business, it is more than the individual business at risk. In 2012, 14 small businesses requesting growth-acceleration consulting services from the Florida Small Business Development Center at the University of South Florida were assessed financially as part of the service provided by the Center. The Pepperdine private cost of capital survey was originally launched in 2007 and is the first comprehensive and simultaneous investigation of the major private capital market segments. This year’s survey deployed in October 2014, specifically examined the behavior of senior lenders, asset‐based lenders, mezzanine funds, private equity groups, venture capital firms, angel investors, privately‐held businesses, investment bankers, business brokers, limited partners, and business appraisers. This quantitative correlational study was focused on how consumers’ perceptions affect their intention to use mobile banking in the United States. Among U.S. consumers with smartphones, Internet access, and a bank account; 68% used Internet, 33% used telephone-based banking, and only 21% engaged in some type of mobile banking activities in 2011. The web-based survey used in this study was derived from the technology acceptance model extended by the innovation diffusion theory. Data Table, Charts, Scenario Manager, Goal Seek, and Solver are powerful Excel tools in solving financial problems. Incorporating these tools into finance teaching can help students understand finance concepts intuitively, and bridge the gap between financial theories and real-world applications. The learning goals defined for an Excel-integrated finance course have all been achieved. Students who took this course are more confident on their Excel skills and financial knowledge.
