Recession And Recovery: Jobs In Nebraska: 2008 To 2012, Randolph L. Cantrell Jul 2014

Recession And Recovery: Jobs In Nebraska: 2008 To 2012, Randolph L. Cantrell

Cornhusker Economics

A commonly used resource for tracking changes in jobs and income at the county level is the Regional Economic Information System (REIS) data base produced annually by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). REIS data are derived from tax filings by employers, employees and the self-employed. The data base has been relatively unchanged (except for a reorganization of industry codes) since 1969. Reporting is always for the tax year two-years previous to the release date, so the data are more about historical than current conditions. However, REIS is generally seen as reliable and does provide a trend line that now …

America’S Transition To New Healthcare Policy: Applying Airline Pricing Models To Healthcare Providers, Westin Leavitt, Dr. Mark Hansen Jul 2014

America’S Transition To New Healthcare Policy: Applying Airline Pricing Models To Healthcare Providers, Westin Leavitt, Dr. Mark Hansen

Journal of Undergraduate Research

As America’s healthcare industry becomes increasingly regulated under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the economic effects of regulation are still in question. One of the most puzzling questions is the price at which hospitals and clinics will charge for treatment. Because hospitals’ costs and prices are usually proprietary knowledge, we suspect that hospitals are participating in first-degree price discrimination* to maximize profits. In addition, we seek to explain how the ACA’s partial reimbursement rates cause greater financial stress on hospitals by forcing them to cost shift**.

Social Supports From Organization And Customer, Jae Won Yoo Jul 2014

Social Supports From Organization And Customer, Jae Won Yoo

Asia Marketing Journal

This study applies the job-demands resource (JD-R) model to investigate the interactive effect of job demands and job resources in predicting the development of service employee work engagement and customer-oriented attitude. This paper proposed a theoretical model that suggests that the service employee`s work engagement is the consequence of the employee`s perceived support from the organization and its customers (customer participation) and leads to a customer-oriented attitude. However, the effect of organizational support is somewhat hindered by job insecurity, demonstrating the inability of an organizationally provided job resource to overcome the job demand of job insecurity. As a type of …

The Influence Of The Relationship Between Consumer And Tie-In Promotion On Loyalty, Eun Mi Lee, Hyun Hee Park, Jung Ok Jeon

Asia Marketing Journal

There has been recognition of the increasing importance of cooperation as an element of marketing strategy. Such cooperation is confined to four levels based on product development, sales promotion, pricing arrangements, and place (or distribution) mechanisms as the usual marketing 4Ps mixed (Varadarajan 1986). At present, however, little is known about the nature of tie-in promotion as a cooperative sales promotion comparing three other levels. The primary goal of this study is to examine the effect of consumer-tie-in promotion relationship on loyalty. The construct of consumer-tie-in promotion relationship is based on the previous research on consumer-brand relationship. In addition, this …

Information Security Governance For The Non-Security Business Executive, Michael Whitman, Herbert J. Mattord

Faculty Articles

Information security is a critical aspect of information systems usage in current organizations. Often relegated to the IT staff, it is in fact the responsibility of senior management to assure the secure use and operation of information assets. Most managers recognize that governance is the responsibility of executive management. The primary objective of governance can be achieved when the members of an organization know what to do, how it should be done, as well as who should do it. The focus on governance has expanded to include more aspects of the organizational hierarchy to include information systems and information security. …

Consumer Locus Of Control As A Moderator Of The Relationship Between Mood And Consumers` Likelihood To Purchase, Felix Septianto, Minghao Huang, Jaeseok Jeong Jul 2014

Consumer Locus Of Control As A Moderator Of The Relationship Between Mood And Consumers` Likelihood To Purchase, Felix Septianto, Minghao Huang, Jaeseok Jeong

Asia Marketing Journal

Although previous works have established that mood can considerably influence consumer behavior (Vohs et al. 2007), they provided inconsistent results (Cohen et al. 2008). In particular, previous works only examined the willingness of consumers to regulate their mood and implicitly assumed that consumers have the control to regulate their mood states. Thus, this research intends to fill the current gap in the extant literatures by investigating whether consumer locus of control (CLOC) can act as a moderator for mood effects on consumers` likelihood to purchase. In an experiment, participants` CLOC was initially measured. Afterwards, they watched different video clips to …

The Legal Practice Of Corporate Takeover And Mandatory Tender Offer (Mto) In The Indonesian Capital Market, Yozua Makes

The Indonesian Capital Market Review

The number of takeover transactions is relatively less compared to other corporate actions by publicly-listed companies, (e.g. IPOs, rights issues, or material transactions). There is no research that explains or contextualizes this fact, but one may speculate that this may be due to (a) the existence of block-holders in Indonesia’s corporate structure profile (structural barrier) or (b) because it is costly to carry out a takeover in light of the existing Mandatory Tender Offer (MTO) requirements (legal barrier). This article focuses on the latter problem, aiming to address the practical and legal issues pertaining to takeover transactions in Indonesia with …

In 2013, South Carolina’s Department of Juvenile Justice (SCDJJ) released data that listed Black male children comprising 57% of all juvenile referrals in the state. This disproportionate trend is also present in South Carolina’s correctional system. In 2013, South Carolina’s Department of Corrections (SCDOC) reported that out of 20,777 male prisoners, 13,631 were Black. For adolescents or young adults looking to continue their education, alternative programs are available. One program that captures educationally displaced children in South Carolina is …
