Milled Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composition, Brian Massengale, Paul Schauer, Charles Dahle, Barry Gregerson, Bonnie Bachman, Thomas Oesterle

Economics Faculty Research & Creative Works

A milled carbon fiber reinforced polymer having increased abrasion resistive characteristics. The reinforced polymer comprises a base resin selected from the group consisting of polyolefins and polyamides. The base resin is combined with an amount of milled carbon fibers and further may be combined with polytetrafluoroethylene. The resulting composite materials have excellent friction and wear characteristics and are useful in the production of injection molded parts. The molded parts have a high impact strength, exhibit dimensional stability, are abrasion resistive, and are static dissipative, with the composite materials having particular utility as support fixtures for semiconductors during certain processing operations.

The Soul Of The Firm (Santa Fe, Nm), C. William Pollard

C. William Pollard Papers

This speech was delivered at the 1997 fall seminar of the Evangelical Christian Publishing Association in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In it Pollard addresses what he calls the "confusion" and "insecurity" felt by many Americans at the turn of the century. To remedy this situation the corporate leader must adopt a servant attitude, one that helps her prioritize the well-being of the people who make up any given institution.

Tqm In The Construction Industry In Hong Kong : A Supply Chain Management Perspective, Shiu Ho, Alfred Wong Nov 1997

Tqm In The Construction Industry In Hong Kong : A Supply Chain Management Perspective, Shiu Ho, Alfred Wong

Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies Working Paper Series

TQM is increasingly being adopted by construction companies as initiatives to solve quality problems in the construction industry and to meet the needs of the final customer. However, TQM should incorporate the integrated quality management activities of members in the supply chain. This supply chain context is especially salient in the qua1ity assurance of construction projects as a general contractor often out-sources most of the construction work to other members in the supply chain i.e. its suppliers and subcontractors. Therefore, this paper aims to delineate the supply chain management issues in total quality for construction projects. Through the use of …

從公有到私有企業 : 中國勞資關係的轉型, Kwok Keung Chow Nov 1997

從公有到私有企業 : 中國勞資關係的轉型, Kwok Keung Chow

Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies Working Paper Series

Ua3/9/2 Wku Institutional Review, James L. Fisher, Ltd. Nov 1997

Ua3/9/2 Wku Institutional Review, James L. Fisher, Ltd.

WKU Archives Records

Institutional review conducted during Barbara Burch's interim presidency of WKU and presidential search.

Western Kentucky is a good university essentially trapped in time and therefore unable to change significantly. Until these constraints are eliminated or modified, the University will not be able to effectively address major issues of focus, enrollment, organization, personnel, curriculum, governance, athletics, planning and increased public and private support. Rather, it will continue to drift with occasional peripheral and cosmetic changes, none of which will be sufficient to successfully relate to Kentucky's new plan for post-secondary education.

The problems that prevent significant institutional transformation are several, but …

Eastern Traditional Business Values : Mercantile Patron Gods In Hong Kong = 東方傳統企業價值 : 香港的行業神崇拜, Kwok Keung Chow

Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies Working Paper Series

During the past decade there has been an increasing recognition in business organizations of the importance of establishing their organizational culture in Hong Kong. Executives and managers want to know how to manage organizational culture for achieving excellence in performance but they always ignored some important functions played by the worship of mercantile patron gods. This paper represents the culminated review of a series of case studies based on many interviews with some traditional guilds, trades and organizations in Hong Kong on their worship practice of their mercantile patron gods from a variable perspective of organizational culture. It acknowledges that …

Breaking Trends And The Money-Output Correlation, David Fernandez Nov 1997

Breaking Trends And The Money-Output Correlation, David Fernandez

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

This paper examines the impact on the money-output correlation of a univariate specification that allows time series to be characterized as stationary around a broken trend function. Though pretesting suggests that U.S. real output (industrial production) can be described as broken-trend stationary, this result has only limited impact on the money-output correlation. Before 1985 there is a strong Granger causal relationship between money and broken-detrended output (hut not first-differenced output), even when different short-term interest rates are used as regressors. However, after 1985 this relationship weakens significantly, whether or not one determines that output has a unit root.
