I had always wanted to enter healthcare, and due to my interest in chemistry and the allure of being able to create medications that help people across the world, pharmacy was what drew my interest. However, I was uncertain as to which school to choose.
While I don't remember the exact event, I attended some kind of school showcase where representatives from Gatton came to speak about the pharmacy school. From there, I learned about several things …

This paper contributes to a fuller understanding of macroeconomic outcomes to financial market disturbances and the central bank’s role in financial stability. Our two major contributions are conceptual and econometric. Conceptually, we introduce phases of the business cycle and econometrically we employ Bayesian VARs. We document that a shock that increases credit to non-financial sector leads to a persistent decline in economic activity. In addition, we examine whether the behavior of financial variables is useful in signaling the 2007–2009 recession. The answer is positive as our BVAR generates early warning signals pointing to a sustained slowdown in growth. We propose …

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2022) – What if East Tennessee State University became a premier destination for cutting-edge academic programs? What if the university, already known for enrolling a high number of students who are first in their families to attend college, doubled the number of first-generation students attending and graduating? Understanding The Effects Of Environment, Social, And Governance Conduct On Financial Performance: Arguments For A Process And Integrated Modelling Approach, Michael T. Lee, Ikseon Suh
Department of Accounting Faculty Research
To date, an overwhelming number of research findings on Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) conduct and financial performance remains inconclusive. Furthermore, research has not identified nor explained the “underlying mechanisms” behind this relationship. To encourage future research, we discuss the mechanisms by identifying the first-order, mediating, and moderating variables. We synthesize recent studies for emerging themes and implications; argue for a process and integrated approach for modelling causality between ESG conduct and financial performance variables; and suggest methods to analyze the models. We also advocate for researchers to explore the idea that balancing corporate conduct among the E, S, and …

The Economic Circumstances Of Sexual Minority Women In Utah, Claudia Geist, Marin Christensen, Susan R. Madsen
Marketing and Strategy Faculty Publications
When thinking of gender inequality in Utah, many people immediately consider the difficulties of combining motherhood and employment,1 sexism in everyday life,2 or recent studies that have deemed Utah to be the “worst” state for gender equality.3 Further, women of color have different experiences than white women, as they experience racism and gender discrimination at the intersection of both.4 Inequalities in economic outcomes based on race and ethnicity are well documented5 and shed light on the fact that “women” are not a monolithic category. This snapshot focuses on an axis of inequality that has been …

The Impact Of Internet Banking At Times Of Pandemic; Customer Experience, Satisfaction, Trust, Loyalty, E-Service Quality And Bank’S Financial Performance; An Application On Egyptian Public Banks, Madiha Metawie, Dalia Ahmed Mosallamy Faculty Of Business Adminstration, Economics And Political Science
Business Administration
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of Internet banking on customer experience, satisfaction, trust, loyalty, E-service quality and financial performance in Egyptian public banks. This study concentrates on public bank’s customers in Egypt as a developing nation in the Middle East, which limits the generalizations of the paper findings to other banks globally. However, the fact that all banks faced similar challenges at times of pandemics and typically adopt common standards in bank financial management implies that the findings are potentially robust for global bank management. Structural Equation Modelling was applied to examine the research hypotheses. …

How Is Immigrant Entrepreneurial Opportunity Formation Influenced By Interactions Between Home And Host Countries?, Kingsley C. Njoku, Thomas M. Cooney
Articles
This study examined how the entrepreneurial opportunity formation process among different ethnic groups was influenced by their origins and the cultural values accustomed to them. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data was collected from 20 participants (five each from four different ethnic groups) using an in-depth interview technique. The study found that the interactions between an immigrant's home and host environments can take different forms (i.e., enablers and threats) which will influence their career choices in diverse ways. The study model framework showed that participants are influenced distinctly subject to their ethnic backgrounds and the nature of their interactions with …
