Magnet Hospitals: An Update On The Impact On Nursing Burnout, Jonathan Settle, Michael Davis, Alberto Coustasse

Management Faculty Research

Nurse burnout has been associated with worsened outcomes for nurses, such as increased turnover or quitting and lower job satisfaction. This study utilized a literature review complemented by two semi-structured interviews. The results showed that Magnet hospitals kept lower levels of burnout, better job satisfaction, and less turnover than non-Magnet hospitals, but this was only the case for some studies of Magnet hospitals. Some outcomes could be attributed …

Building, maintaining, or scaling a sustainable music ecosystem business can be challenging due to a lack of resources to improve business operations, a lack of consistent goals, or know-how to capture and enhance customer value in an oversaturated and competitive music industry. According to Amy Wang, most musicians in the United States make $25,000 a year or less, and Next Big Sound follows up by stating that approximately 91 percent of artists go undiscovered. This study interviewed twelve independent musicians and used four common themes of the business of music, access to resources, digital technology, and performing rights organizations to …

High Health Care Cost In The U.S. And Its Impact On An African American Church Community In East Orange, New Jersey, William Charles

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Access to affordable quality health care has been a long debating issue in the United States. Many scholarly research articles indicated that the cost of insurance premiums, deductibles, co-payments, and prescription drugs continue to rise every year. Despite various efforts to reduce the cost of health care in the United States, the trend remains the same. Au contraire, more Americans are unable to afford the cost of prescription drugs. More Americans postpone their medical treatments. More Americans find it difficult to financially address their health care needs. It can be inferred that high health cost has a significant impact in …

Effectiveness Of Checkout Charities: Exploring Generational Differences, Shaylee R. Ferguson, Lauren Beverly, Jamye Foster

AMTP Proceedings 2023

As consumer-brand relationships continue to evolve, the role of cause-related marketing (CRM) is becoming increasingly complex (Mohr et al., 1998). A specific type of CRM, checkout charities, is becoming common in brick-and-mortar and online retailers (Sudbury & Vossler, 2021). Previous check-out-charity research has focused on consumer stress and cause fit while ignoring the influence of generational differences on perceptions and participation. Research has found that some generational groups differ in motivations for giving and donation expectations, thus impacting consumer behaviors in the context of checkout charities. Therefore, this study will attempt to answer the following research question: Do younger generations …

Following The "Iron Lady" And Finding A University: A Phenomenological Study Of Organizational Identity, Erin Pearson

College of Education and Human Sciences: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research

Higher education culture is steeped in institutional identity and ties to history. But what happens when that history is challenged, and an institution must change its name? While a merger was not initially intended for Kearney State College, merging into the University of Nebraska system was the only way to reflect the change and growth that emulated the type of institution it had become. By interviewing sixteen participants that lived the experience of the merge, a concise and collective history of the events that led to the creation of the University of Nebraska at Kearney was obtained and studied. Through …

Marketing & Entrepreneurship Faculty Publications

More organizations use AI in the hiring process than ever before, yet the perceived ethicality of such processes seems to be mixed. With such variation in our views of AI in hiring, we need to understand how these perceptions impact the organizations that use it. In two studies, we investigate how ethical perceptions of using AI in hiring are related to perceptions of organizational attractiveness and innovativeness. Our findings indicate that ethical perceptions of using AI in hiring are positively related to perceptions of organizational attractiveness, both directly and indirectly via perceptions of organizational innovativeness, with variations depending on the …

Is It Worth Promoting Battery Swapping? A Social Welfare Perspective On Provider- And Consumer-Side Incentives, Zhaojun Yang, Xu Zu, Jun Sun, Quanlong Lei, Yali Zhang Mar 2023

Is It Worth Promoting Battery Swapping? A Social Welfare Perspective On Provider- And Consumer-Side Incentives, Zhaojun Yang, Xu Zu, Jun Sun, Quanlong Lei, Yali Zhang

Information Systems Faculty Publications

In countries that promote further EV diffusion, battery swapping opens up a market outlet for time-sensitive consumers as well as another green policy channel. To better understand this phenomenon from the perspective of policy-making, this study establishes a Hotelling model of a competitive market comprising a battery swapping service provider and a charging service provider. The analyses of three scenarios, no subsidization, consumer subsidization, and provider subsidization, reveal how to maximize social welfare. Considering subsidy amount, consumer time preferences, service time, and operating costs, the findings provide valuable insights for policymakers. Whereas incentive programs are generally helpful for battery swapping …

Do Tourism Clusters Contribute To Low-Carbon Destinations? The Spillover Effect Of Tourism Agglomerations On Urban Residential Co2 Emissions, Qiang Zhou, Shen Qu, Wanrong Hou Mar 2023

Do Tourism Clusters Contribute To Low-Carbon Destinations? The Spillover Effect Of Tourism Agglomerations On Urban Residential Co2 Emissions, Qiang Zhou, Shen Qu, Wanrong Hou

Management Faculty Publications

A burgeoning literature has investigated the relationship between tourism and regional CO2 emissions. However, the results are equivocal. Some scholars find that tourism induces more emissions, while others find that tourism benefits emission mitigation. Previous research suffers three deficiencies: (1) the CO2 emissions induced by tourism beyond the tourism sectors are neglected; (2) the role of tourism agglomerations in sustainable destination development is underrated; (3) the tripartite mechanism of tourism agglomerations, household income, and urban direct residential CO2 emissions (DRCEs) remains to be determined. Based on the theories of complex adaptive system and an empirical study of 30 provinces in …

Teaching Tip: A Teaching Module Illustrating Erp Item Value Automation, Anil Singh, Vikram Bhadauria, George Mangalaraj

Information Systems Faculty Publications

Large parts of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) processes are automated. One example is the item values in the sales order process. To execute a sales order, the ERP system applies a specific “find” strategy on a wide variety of data sources such as customer master, material master, and customer price-specific data tables, and extracts information such as customer class, discounts, and dates for computations of line items, namely, prices, discounts, and taxes. While completing their ERP assignments on the sales order process, students often see only the final sales order amount and ignore—and thereby fail to appreciate and understand—the …
