Insurance, Policy, And Education For Livestock Producers, Milan Chauhan, Bradley D. Lubben

Cornhusker Economics

Federal crop insurance programs have existed since the 1930s, but for livestock producers, federal insurance programs were virtually nonexistent until the past 20 years. Livestock producers may not face exactly the same production risks that crop producers face, but they do face similar production risks related to grazing capacity and forage production and of course face price risks just like crop producers do.

ETSU News

Now is the time to plan your excursion into the region’s highest elevations, as fall color is likely to peak now through next weekend.

“I think that these cold temperatures are going to really start to speed things up,” said Travis Watson, the campus arborist at East Tennessee State University. “I would look for this weekend through October 22 to be the best times to travel to higher elevations.”

Recent high winds did bring down some leaves throughout the Appalachian Highlands, though that mostly happened with poplar and “less showy hardwoods,” Watson said.

“Monday’s rainfall was also much needed …

Based on aesthetics and inspiration perspectives, this study applied fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis to investigate the configurations of aesthetic and travel inspiration variables that lead to audience’s intention to share SfTV. The study identified six configurations between the four aesthetic value constructs and the two travel inspiration constructs explaining audience’s sharing intention, which can be further summarized into four typical modes: ‘destination reputation-inspiration’, ‘presenter physical beauty-inspiration’, ‘video aesthetics-inspiration’ and ‘presenter physical beauty-video aesthetics-inspiration’. The study emphasized the key role of travel inspiration, as it always presents as the core condition in each configuration, while obvious substitution can be found with …

Curating A Consumption Ideology: Platformization And Gun Influencers On Instagram, Jenna M. Drenten Ph.D., Lauren Gurrieri, Aimee Dinnín Huff, Michelle Barnhart

School of Business: Faculty Publications and Other Works

This study explores how a platform enables social media influencers to promulgate a consumption ideology. We show how gun influencers, or “gunfluencers,” use Instagram to link products, activities, and meanings to Second Amendment ideology – a gun-centric belief system in the United States colloquially known as “2A ideology.” Through a qualitative study of 25 Instagram gunfluencers, we identify a process of curating a consumption ideology wherein social media influencers employ four curatorial tactics: glamourizing, demystifying, victimizing, and tribalizing. Findings suggest gunfluencers extend audiences and leverage algorithms to prescribe and model how supporters of 2A ideology should look, act, speak, feel, …

The Status Of Women On Utah State Boards & Commissions: A 2023 Update, Susan R. Madsen, Natasha Birchard, Brooke Scheffler

Marketing and Strategy Faculty Publications

Research shows that organizations will increasingly thrive when both men and women hold leadership roles.1 Gender inclusivity benefits not only businesses, but also entities such as churches, state legislatures, city councils, state governments, and state and local boards and commissions. Studies have shown that there are numerous benefits to attracting, retaining, promoting, and empowering women within organizations and entities. More specifically, research demonstrates the need for the government—and democratic governance processes in general—to reflect gender diversity accurately within its constituency at all levels.2 Utah is no exception. In fact, in Utah (Code 67-1-11), since 1992, appointing authorities were …
