Research has shown that hiring R&D scientists from competitors fosters organizational learning. We examine whether hiring scientists who have many collaborative ties with the hiring firm prior to the mobility event produces different learning outcomes than hiring scientists who have few or no such ties. We theorize that prior ties reduce explorative learning and increase exploitative learning. Namely, we posit that prior ties lead the hiring firm to focus on that part of a new hire’s knowledge with which they are already familiar and that they help appropriate the new hire’s newly generated knowledge. This study examines the perceptions and preferences of hospitality and tourism educators and learners. Similarities and dissimilarities in the preference, perception and its link with gender, and scope of the degree course what the respondents teach and learn are analyzed. Data was collected from both students and teachers of hospitality, tourism and culinary degree program at a private university located in Karnataka, India. We investigate the stochastic integrated inventory model wherein the buyer's lead time demand follows the mixture of normal distributions. Due to the high acquisition cost of land, we assume that buyer's maximum permissible storage space is limited and therefore adds a space constraint to the respective inventory system. Besides, it is assumed that the manufacturing process is imperfect and produces defective units, and hence each lot received by the buyer contains percentage defectives. Technology empowers entrepreneurs to pursue alternative funding through platforms like crowdfunding. This research explores significant startup funding factors using Crunchbase. Controlling for common factors (acquisition/funding-rounds/IPO), the research uniquely focuses on web attention - the visibility on social media - and its impact on funding. It also examines the moderating influence of startup’s home country culture (individualism/collectivism). Findings show stronger positive impact of web attention on startup funding for collectivist countries. While individualistic investors value personal goals, collectivists value collaborative goals - inclinations that align with crowdfunding behavior. Therefore while increasing web attention, crowdfunding efforts can be targeted towards collectivist countries.
