Do Fas Large Export Sales Reports Move Commodity Futures Markets?, William Johnson

This study sought to determine if the Large Export Reports from the USDA Foreign Agriculture Service have any discernible market-moving impact on particular commodity futures markets. The effect of the reports on futures markets is investigated using four different methods: the average return event study approach, the multiple regression with binary variables model, the autoregressive time series model, and the event spline model. The average returns showed that the FAS's Large Export Sales Reports had no influence on the pricing of wheat futures, but did have a considerable impact on the returns from days before and after the release of …

Diversification is a familiar strategy for managing risk in agriculture. It can take several forms including growing more than one crop or operating a farm with both crop and livestock enterprises. As with other strategies for managing risk, diversification comes with a unique set of costs. Managing a farm with multiple enterprises creates additional overhead as well as additional demands on management, labor, land, capital, and other resources. Diversification adds complexity to an operation and too much complexity can lead to inefficiencies.

The study aimed to reveal the most important skills that help to employ graduates of media faculties in the labor market from the point of view of media practitioners. The study used two approaches, the qualitative methodology and the inductive approach, by conducting in-depth interviews with seventeen media practitioners in Jordan, and the sample was taken in an intentional way. This study aimed at identifying the reflection of media academic education on professional practice. The study adopted the audience survey method. A questionnaire was distributed to an available sample of (102) professionals in Jordanian media institutions who hold a media certificate. The study’s results showed that the primary academic education of media professionals was represented in: “the predominance of theoretical aspects over practical aspects in academic courses,” with a mean of (4.30). The article aimed to identify the reality of media training in Jordanian media institutions from the point of view of journalists in Jordan. It adopted a descriptive approach using a questionnaire distributed to a simple random sample of (66) journalists in the Radio and Television Corporation, Petra Agency, daily newspapers, some electronic news websites, the Journalists Syndicate and some satellite channels. The results revealed that 43.9% of the media institutions have departments for training, and 51.5% are interested in holding training courses at a medium rate. This study aimed to identify the role of radio and television programmes in providing drug information to the Jordanian society. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach, and two special questionnaires were developed for the study. African American, Black, Hispanic, Latino, and low-socioeconomic communities have lower swimming ability and higher relative drowning rates than White and high-socioeconomic communities, distinguishing the former as high-priority populations to engage with effective learn-to-swim programming. This article demonstrates how prioritizing the reduction of fear-producing brain processes while learning to swim can result in 79.5% of high-priority population non-swimmers being able to jump into deep water, roll onto their backs and either float or tread for 60 seconds, and swim 25 yards after an average of 14 practice sessions. This article provides an analysis of self-reported water competency skills at a Historically Black University (HBCU). A survey was administered to undergraduate students who lived on campus at one HBCU. Of the 254 respondents that reported the ability to swim, only 187 respondents self-reported the ability to swim and the ability to perform water competency skills. The biggest discrepancy occurred within individuals that identified as Black or African American. In this group, 142 out of 250 participants proclaimed the ability to swim. Why Agriculture Productivity Falls: The Political Economy of Agrarian Transition in Developing Countries offers a new explanation for the decline in agricultural productivity in developing countries. Transcending the conventional approaches to understanding productivity using agricultural inputs and factors of production, this work brings in the role of formal and informal institutions that govern transactions, property rights, and accumulation. This more robust methodology leads to a comprehensive, well-balanced lens to perceive agrarian transition in developing countries.
