Situating Grammar Instruction In The World Language Classroom: Four Content-Enriched Strategies, Todd A. Hernández
Spanish Languages and Literatures Research and Publications
The role of grammar instruction in promoting communicative competence continues to be a controversial issue for the world language classroom teacher. Second language acquisition research suggests that critical to sustained progress in language use is a focus on form, which we define as attention to linguistic form in the context of performing a communicative task. We therefore offer here four content-enriched strategies for situating grammar in a communicative context: textual enhancement, input flood, structured input, and dictogloss. In the last two decades, scholars in Rhetoric and Writing Studies have been calling for a greater representation of voices of those from other cultures who participated in rhetorical practices. As Jacqueline Jones Royster contends, rhetoric has been framed as mostly white, male, and elite, and that these positions distort the democratic perspective of our discipline. Claiming the Discursive Self: Mestiza Rhetoric of Mexican Women Journalists, 1876-1924 presents women rhetors who were participating in not only creating a national identity, but also in constructing a public identity that would insure women's contribution and participation for future generations. This article presents an analysis of the 2010 grammar of Spanish jointly published by Spain´s language academy and the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language. It places this grammatical project in the context of Spain´s geopolitical interests in Latin America.

Un hecho muy conocido dentro de la comunidad académica internacional es que el español hablado por los dominicanos constituye uno de los dialectos hispánicos más radicales en cuanto a la variabilidad de algunas de sus consonantes. Esto se puede ilustrar, por ejemplo, con los procesos de cambio a que estan sometidos los sonidos /r/ y /l/ tanto en posición final de silaba interna de palabra como al final de palabra, y la nasal /n/ al final de palabra. En este sentido, en las diversas regiones del país se producen distintas realizaciones fonéticas, condicionadas casi siempre por el estilo de habla …

La trayectoria del teatro contemporáneo en España es una historia de supervivencia.
